April Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!
Serenity / Original Character
[She steps off the train, looking shell shocked if anything, and when the train leave she jumps, her pale blonde hair whipping around as she turns. Serenity can feel her heart beating against her chest, a panicked induced fear overtaking her as she takes a few steps back.
The last thing she could remember was speaking with Amir, trying to decide what to do about Markel. They hadn't reached a decision. She'd grown frustrated and left. She'd been on her way home and then...
Well then she woke up on a unfamiliar beast, and at present, stood in an unfamiliar city. Her stomach twisted, bright eyes looking all around.
What was going on?]
8-5
[Walking around with no shoes on can lead to several problems. Serenity has found one of these problems after stepping on what she presumes was a shard from a broken glass bottle. She'd managed to hobble away, taking a seat on the side walk to asset the damange.
She sighs, then, carefully ripping a strip off the end of her dress to make a makeshift bandage. It isn't too bad, it could be worse.]
8-5
The city itself tends to be pretty quiet, though, so he almost doesn't notice the lady sitting on the sidewalk. It's not a usual sight, though, and he pauses, then approaches just enough for her to hear him, not wanting to spook her.]
Ma'am?
[He keeps his wings folded small and non-threatening at his back.]
Could you use some assistance, ma'am?
Re: 8-5
Her shoulders remain tense, and she looks very much like she's torn between fight or flight instincts. It's an internal battle, but she manages to push them down. She swallows around a lump in her throat, licking her lips before she speaks.]
Un... Unless you have shoes, I'm not sure what you could do to help with my current predicament.
[She gives him a shake smile before looking back down to finish tying the makeshift bandage.]
You have wings.
no subject
[With the obvious sufficiently stated, he watches her bandage her feet for a second, then looks down at his own. His shoes aren't anything fancy--regular old boots, only a little bit worn from his patrols, but he balances himself on one leg and starts to wrestle one off.]
And since I do, these are kind of a superfluous joke. I'd pontificate on the irony of walking my beat when I'm literally too fly to do so, but unless you got a pen to write that shit down, I should probably keep a lid on that shit so it stays fresh till later.
[His boot finally slides off and he hops a little to keep upright, then tilts his head at her.]
What's your shoe size?
no subject
Suddenly she feels fairly flustered.]
Wh-What? But those are yours!
[She couldn't possibly take them!]
I only meant if you had a spare pair, not to take your own shoes.
no subject
[He sets the first boot down between them--without encroaching on her space--and starts to hover mid-air to remove the other. Also, that last comment is a joke. They don't smell that bad, especially given that a teenage boy (...more or less) has been wearing them.]
Look, ma'am, it's my job to help people, you know? It's not a big deal.
no subject
[Even if she was only borrowing them, it felt wrong. Of course seeing him hover in mid-air has her leaning more towards accepting the offer. It would be nice not to have to worry about stepping in any more glass or worse.
In the end she gives in, worrying her lower lip as she reaches over to take the boot he set down between them. It looks like it might be a bit big, but Serenity's borrowed her older brothers shoes in the past so she can make due at least until they find someplace safer for her feet.
Which means she'll possibly follow Davesprite around like a duckling until she can properly return his boots.]
You are very kind. Are you a city guard?
no subject
Kind of, yeah. I'm on the police force in a sort of junior capacity, but Saber--she's the chief--she has me work directly under her as her squire. [He frowns a little.] Which is a lot more paperwork than I figured when I signed up. You know King Arthur doesn't do her own paperwork? It's fucking incredible.
[With what he probably imagines is a surreptitious glance, he tries to check her over for other injuries.]
You know, I could point you to the clinic, if you want to slap a real bandage on that.
no subject
You're a squire to the King of this city?
[Besides her foot - which is now safely covered by his boot - she's uninjured. Frazzled, but uninjured.]

And she certainly can't walk around barefoot much longer. She's on her usual morning walk through the city when she sees all this happening, and she comes to the woman's side, crouching down to get on her level.]
Are you alright? That can't feel good.
no subject
She returns to bandaging the injury, her voice soft.]
It will be alright. In the past I have stepped on sharper things.
no subject
You must let me help you...please. There's a clinic in the city, I can take you there - they can look at your foot and clean it so it won't get diseased.
no subject
[Her eyebrows knit together, confused.]
I'm certain it will be alright. I heal quickly.
no subject
[She wonders what sort of world this woman comes from, at this point - though with Padme, she feels she's often wondering that about people here.]
Please...are you sure there's no way I can help you? My name is Padme. I don't like seeing people hurting.
no subject
[Serenity has to smile, finishing off the bandage. It's a shy smile, but still an improvement to the frightened rabbit look she had.]
I do not wish to cause you any trouble, but, could you explain where I am?
no subject
This is Ruby City...I'm not sure exactly where it is, but we've been taken from our worlds and dropped off here.
no subject
[She frowns, more bothered by that then the notion of other worlds.]
How do I return home?

prompt 2
How did that happen? [ He asks, kneeling down beside her with plain concern on his face. Looking up, he motions to her bleeding foot. ]
May I?
no subject
Outside of her family, and perhaps Amir and his, Serenity isn't very good with people. She's frightened of most really, and if she were to be honest it was only after years of interacting with Amir that lead to her feeling comfortable around him.
Still, she can't stay quiet, so she looks down. Hair automatically falling in her face as she busies herself with finishing tying the fabric.]
Glass. It's alright, I made sure there was no glass caught inside the cut.
no subject
You weren't wearing shoes or anything?
no subject
[The monster being the train.]
no subject
A monster? What was it that got you?
no subject
[Her nose wrinkles a little at the memory.]
whoops this is late bye
It's actually a piece of machinery-- you're right, it uses metal parts, fire, and fuel to operate. It transports things and people quickly. In my world, my District, we actually mine out the stuff that powers them.
[ Smiling at her as he continues kneeling at her feet. ] But otherwise we don't get to see much of them-- just the coal. Now are you sure I can't take you to the clinic or anything?
wow so late
His explanation didn't help either, though she does appreciate the effort.]
So it is like a wagon but without needing a horse to pull it?
[Her gaze goes back to his feet. Worrying her bottom lip she eyes her makeshift bandage.]
I suppose... Fresh bandages would be good. Perhaps you could, um, explain what you mean by District, sir?
yeah but i'm even later
