August Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

I understand. Sorry, I just- [...was used to selling himself short? Knew all along this trip was abut far more than him? Any other number of things with a sense of self-worth at rock bottom?] --never mind, it's not important.
As for that--yes, that's exactly the case. What it is, more or less, is a manifestation of one's own soul formed from energy and projected to fight and protect its user. Because that's the case, they're all vastly different in both appearance and function. I'll show you right now, so...please, try not to be too startled.
[With that fair warning, Kakyoin called up Hierophant as easily as breathing: a single coil wrapped around his arm and extended behind him, twisting and forming into the Stand's faintly glowing humanlike upper body.]
As it's an apparition that stands beside its user, it's simply called a 'Stand'. The name of mine specifically is 'Hierophant Green'--or just 'Hierophant', it's a bit shorter.
no subject
[Jonathan stares down at Hierophant with wide eyes, utterly astounded. It looks so much like a human, and yet it's a being made of pure energy? He's never seen anything like it before in his life, and this is a man who watched an Italian stranger hit a frog with all his might and not injure it. The color-themed naming gets points from him, too. His gaze follows Hierophant around, analyzing its every movement.]
Just what are these "Stands" capable of? If they are a being who represents your soul, what happens if they are injured in combat?
[Because as we all know, when Jonathan Joestar is truly interested in something, he fires off questions at a million miles per hour.]
no subject
My Hierophant is a long-range Stand who fights by firing projectiles--emeralds, actually. [Kakyoin seemed only too happy to talk about his favorite subject. As he spoke, the redhead held his hands together a few inches apart, his Stand moving in unison with him. Between Hierophant's hands formed a faceted shard of emerald, glowing faintly.] He's also well-suited to scouting and stealth, more than direct fighting.
no subject
[This is all a lot more complicated than Hamon was, but he feels like this can give way to many more possibilities - and a lot more unpredictability, for better or for worse. Jonathan has to assume that with Dio, it's the latter.]
Your fighting must be rather expensive, if you use gemstones so often. [He's relaxed enough to even test the waters for a joke here and there, but nothing too inappropriate.] Let's be serious. If that is the extent of your abilities, then...do you know what Dio can do with his Stand?
[Because as much as this is an exciting new prospect to him, the thought of Dio getting his hands on it in addition to his vampiric abilities is absolutely terrifying, just to put it mildly.]
no subject
[Hierophant retracted into just the single coil around its user's arm, Kakyoin's other hand nervously gripping the fabric of his uniform near his stomach.]
It's-... [His voice was halting and forced, the strained smile dropping off the student's face.] ...called 'The World'. And I...know what it does.
no subject
[Any inclinations of joke-making immediately vanish.]
Kakyoin.
[Jonathan places his hands on the smaller man's shoulders, looking down at him like a concerned father would, because Dio is his responsibility, and if he had hurt any of these kids, so help him...]
You're safe. Dio...
[He looks over his shoulder for a brief moment, expression suddenly uncertain, wanting to confirm something he really should have confirmed sooner.]
Dio...isn't here, right?
no subject
[He couldn't quite look Jonathan in the eye, even if what he'd said was completely honest. But Kakyoin lowered his hand, vaguely aware that was turning into an unfortunate nervous habit.]
...I've seen it, back in Egypt. I saw what his real power was, and it was something my Hierophant couldn't match.
no subject
Kakyoin. I've seen what Dio can do firsthand, even before he gained an ability of this magnitude, but let me say...the lengths he went to gain his power are so cruel, so inhuman, they're something I'll never forget.
Do not blame yourself. It isn't your fault. If you want to blame anyone for the atrocities he's committed, I'll shoulder that responsibility any day. But you didn't ask for any of this.
Look at me, please. I promise, if that man ever shows up here, you won't have to worry, because I'll give everything I am and more in order to purge completely him from this world. I will not let him touch you, or my descendants, or any other innocent people again, as long as my heart still beats proudly in my chest!
no subject
[Helaughed again, though that time the sound came out as more of a severely repressed sob. There was something very tired and broken to it, something he'd clearly been keeping well hidden until now.]
[Probably even hidden from himself.]
You're really...unbelievably kind, just like the rest of your family. [He shook his head slightly, still refusing to look up.] It's a quality I truly, truly admire about all of you. But I don't blame anyone but Dio himself for what he's done. [And....maybe himself, for being less than effective in stopping him along the way.]
He will absolutely be defeated, though I don't know how. As well as I know my own name, I know Jotaro doesn't know how to fail...and the others are just as stubborn.
But...I'm sorry, Mr. Joestar. It's already too late for me.
no subject
[No. He wouldn't--
He has no reason to doubt that he would.
Damnit.]
.......
[Jonathan is deathly silent as he lowers his head down away from Kakyoin's gaze. He can't help it - some part of him has to feel responsible for this, just a little, and hated it.]
Well, from what you've told me here today, that makes two of us.
[He may not be dead just yet, but Jonathan knows this place may as well be his grave. When he looks back up, his eyes are almost burning with a familiar intensity, a familiar hope.]
But we're here now, aren't we? It has to count for something. This may never be our old lives, but we are breathing here just the same, moving forward every second. I cannot presume to speak for you personally, but...a man I once knew taught me that even with impossible odds, the perseverance of humans can accomplish anything. Your Stand is a living testament to that fact, so take pride in standing here beside it! Just by standing up and breathing, you are defying Dio in a way he cannot challenge any longer!
no subject
You-... [This family's kindness was just going to follow him around even through death, wasn't it? That was...actually incredibly comforting, in an odd way.]
--you're right, aren't you? Just because I'm-...that doesn't mean that it's over, does it?
no subject
[A soft smile spreads across his features.]
I don't mean to frighten you, but even if Dio isn't here right now, there's a chance that he could arrive one day, Stand or no Stand. If that happens, we cannot yield! No matter what sort of tricks he has up his sleeve, there has to be a way to outsmart him, even if the fight seems impossible! Even if we charge into losing battles over and over again, one day our hearts will tremble with an honorable victory!
And if he doesn't arrive...then you and I will keep fighting against whatever evil that takes root here, in this city. The pain and heartache you carry with you compels you to become even stronger!
Am I making sense here?
this conversation is so hot blooded i think i just caught fire
[He quickly brightened up--it was difficult not to, in the face of a disposition like that. The optimism was a little bit contagious, or maybe he just wanted to trust what Jonathan was saying that badly.]
I can...I can try again, if he does come here. Whether he does or doesn't, I'm not afraid of what might happen here--I've already thrown away my own fear to do what's necessary. If I have enough time to plan, Hierophant and I can't possibly lose. [Which was said without a shred of arrogance; as far as he was concerned, it was true. Of course, he had no idea how to defeat stopped time, but he could surely think of one given the chance.]
hotter than speedwagon's sixpack
[Another warm slap over the shoulder - holding back significantly, so he doesn't break Kakyoin's spine - and he's pulled back from his position, turning to face the sunlight. It's here, of all places that he seems most like a giant, but it's hard to ignore the slashes across the back of his tuxedo.]
If we're going to be here a while, what do you say we give each other a full demonstration of our abilities?
no subject
Wh--yes, absolutely! I'd love to show you what we can do together.
