November Test Drive!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

[Pucci does not pull away or acknowledge the fact that he is, frankly, being completely uncalled for. He has already accepted that this must be like the other children. That Giorno is an existence that cannot harm him, instead something that could only strengthen him. All that could be going through his head is delight.

The others he had met were trash. Plain and simple. Swine that did not deserve the blessing to be fathered by Dio but would serve their purpose in assisting him. He could detest them but he could not hate them for that. But this boy was immaculate. So like his dear friend that even without the pull of recognition he would have known. On this he would bet his life.

Nothing about his stare is subtle. Pucci traces the finer features of Giorno's face. Takes in the color of his hair. He even had a brain in his pretty head, unlike the others.]

Smart boy. Yes, I am referring to fate. Do you know who you really are?

[It was only a matter of time.]

[This is what he thinks, as the thrill of emotion singes the edges of his stomach like acid, all fear and anger and desperation mixed together. It was only a matter of time before someone came along who was not even remotely an ally, someone who, in one way or another, worked for his father. This place seems to pull people from his universe without restraint, so why not? Why would it only bring in safe people? None of their lives have ever been safe.]

[But the danger here is more personal, he can tell. There are followers and then there are idealogues, and if the look in Pucci's eyes is anything to go on, the priest is one of the latter. And sees Dio in him, too. Clearly.]

[There was a time before when he used that as a weapon. Maybe . . .]

[And yet he wants to strike out in anger, too. I am not a boy, he wants to snap, I know who I really am, but you don't know me at all. And yet what is he defined by? What is the one thing he knows makes him fundamentally different from Dio?]

[Control.]

[So all he shows is curiosity, when he tips his head to one side.]

You know someone close to me, don't you.

[personal profile] sinfamous 2015-11-08 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Compared to the others Giorno's reaction is just as telling.

Pucci has based his life on talking to people. There were many skills he was proud of but his ability to read others was one of the higher ranked. Inaction speaks as loud as action at times. A voice so calm and collected, so unlike the screeching of the others. Giorno either already knew, was an expectantly controlled young man, or he did not feel the same tug of fate that he did. No, it could not possibly be the latter. His words were not framed as a question.

With a careful step back Pucci takes a look at the bigger picture that is Giorno, head tilted curiously mimicking the other.]

He was a close friend of mine.

[There is no reason not to be completely honest with Giorno, right down to his fond smile. Continuing his mimic he asks a question that is a statement right back.]

You know of him too, correct. Fascinating... Where did you learn of such things?
digiorno: (♛ ways of choosing)

[personal profile] digiorno 2015-11-08 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[Is the mimicry a form of mockery, or something else stranger and more complicated? Pucci says a close friend of mine, and Giorno's first instinct is to dismiss this as delusion. A man like Dio had no friends.]

[At the same time, though, Jonathan has indicated he was more complicated than he seemed. So maybe friendship isn't quite the word, but closeness - that's not utterly out of the question. Even monsters dislike solitude in eternity. Even the highest creatures can't fly to the sun alone.]

[Which leads him to wonder what the hell the inside of Pucci's mind might be like, that he'd follow a man like Dio - that he'd reminisce about him with fondness in his eyes.]

Multiple sources. I tend towards comprehensive research, in the absence of the ability to collect information myself.

[His expression softens slightly, although it's hard to tell whether that's genuine or not.]

I never knew him. Just knew of him. What kind of friend was he to you?

[personal profile] sinfamous 2015-11-08 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Multiple sources.

Where ever could this boy have found multiple people that knew Dio enough to learn of him? He can't stop himself from raising an eyebrow, interest obvious on his face. Who else was left? Surely, the mother would have had no solid information for him.

Pucci will not scoff at being one of these 'multiple resources' though. After all, who knew Dio better than him? As much as one man could know and understand such a being]

He was an amazing man and could say the most thought provoking things. I can not count the hours I spent discussing all manner of things with him for the few years I knew him... [A small sigh. Locked away for so long to finally flare to life only to be quenched just as quickly. It was a shame.]

But I would much rather hear what your sources know of him.
digiorno: (♛ i never meant for you)

[personal profile] digiorno 2015-11-09 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
[An amazing man. Thought-provoking. All manner of things . . . this is new information. Giorno looks thoughtful, while underneath it all his mind races. There are multiple possibilities here, of course. Pucci could just be as mad as his father was. On the other hand, there could be more dimensions to this story than he previously expected.]

[He's under no delusions about the nature of his own relationship with Dio, such that it is. He's fascinated; of course he is. He wants more information; of course he does. But it's a delicate dance, as always, between more information and the construction of fantasy, and it's clear that this man is not a reliable source. So he'll take what he can get and sift through it on his own, deciding what to keep and what to discard.]

[It's obvious, at the very least, that this is a quid pro quo kind of situation, at least for now. Giorno graces Pucci with his presence and thus acquires information. Fair enough to give him some in return. Although not specifics, naturally. No point in painting a target on anyone's back.]

I know some things about his rise to power, and more about his death, though not in very much detail even so. [A lie.] I know that he was powerful and dangerous, and that there are things that he and I share - intellect, charisma, ambition. I know that he chose to spare my mother's life, even though he didn't make that choice very often; I don't know why.

I know as well that he tended to have followers, not friends. [There's a question in there, absolutely.]

[personal profile] sinfamous 2015-11-09 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
[This was more information that he ever thought Giorno would have. And it confirmed his suspicion that he learned from sources other than just his mother by the way she was spoken of. How curious. Pucci raises a finger to his lip, tapping slightly as he considers this information.

It was pretty bold for Giorno to claim so many traits as well. Intellect, charisma, ambition. None of the other sons had such things until he guided them, taught them who they could and should be. Could it be possible that this child lacked nothing? Did his previous knowledge already fulfill him? The simple fact that the boy was confident to name them speaks volumes for their accuracy.]

He was a complicated man.

[It almost appears to be his entire answer before he smirks. Pucci waves his hand dismissively and rests it on his hip, no longer touching his face.]

Dio was searching for encounters. He met me and I chose to visit him. I can not say what he truly thought of me but I care for anyone who supports my growth.

[So yes, they were friends. The unspoken question hangs in the air between them. Will Giorno also encourage his growth?]
digiorno: (♛ we are the poisoned youth)

[personal profile] digiorno 2015-11-09 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
[It's easier to label someone a villain, he reflects, than to allow them to be complicated. Or rather - Dio was a bad person, there's no doubt about that, but he was also a person. There's only so much black-and-white one can apply to a human being.]

[Vampire. Whatever. In any case . . . what a question. Unspoken or not, it comes through clear enough.]

What is "growth"?

[It comes out ponderous, thoughtful.]

Some people see their own personal growth as further confirmation of the beliefs they already held, while others see it as consistently being challenged about those beliefs. What kind of growth are you looking for?

[personal profile] sinfamous 2015-11-09 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[What is growth?

A good question. It is something hard to describe just as Heaven. If the acquisition of that truth was the ultimate goal then the essence of growth was also part of that question. Pucci does not answer right away, clearly thinking through his answer. It is obvious he is pleased though. He might not know if he agrees with Giorno's self assessment just yet but he was providing interesting conversation already. Always a plus.

Finally, he comes to an answer he seems satisfied with. His tone is light, like discussing philosophical questions in the middle of a street with a stranger is a perfectly normal hobby.]

I don't think such a thing can be classified with only two simplified options. Is it not both after all?

To truly grow one needs to surround themselves with all manner of people... Friends, supporters, adversaries, and even strangers you may never meet again. All can provide both challenge and confirmation. [He hums lightly. Yes, he feels correct in this and decides to elaborate.] A friend may challenge what you say but isn't that a necessary form of support? They are keeping your mind sharp and causing you to expand your horizons. They trust in your ability to come up with your own conclusions, in practice a confirmation of their belief in you. In the same vein your enemy may challenge your ideals but that can further confirm what one must do. And, of course, I would be providing the same to both of them.

It's a complicated business, isn't it? People meet and part but even the smallest interaction can stimulate growth if it was destined to. It is all steps on the pathway to obtaining Heaven.

[And he has a definite feeling that Giorno will be another step in that direction.]
digiorno: (♛ mummified my teenage dreams)

[personal profile] digiorno 2015-11-10 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
[All right, Pucci, congratulations. Hold onto your collar, because you just won a smile.]

[The danger of the situation hasn't lifted in the least; Giorno isn't stupid enough to be lulled into a false sense of security by a relatively peaceful conversation. All the same, he's well aware that Pucci's right. His own situation is the perfect example. At home, he's flanked on one side with perfect support, on the other with a perpetual challenge. Without either, he would be a less effective leader - a less effective person. They're both his friends, his family, but they balance him out.]

It's complicated. People are complicated.

[He's pleased that Pucci's aware of this, if nothing else - even if he doesn't comprehend that people, in all their complication, are inherently worth preserving, for the most part. Diavolo never even got as far as acknowledging complexity. This is, in some ways, a step up: a greater potential problem, but also a greater challenge.]

[The smallest interaction can stimulate growth. Yes, that's true. Destiny is what it is, some convoluted idea that he still isn't sure he agrees with, but there's a poetry in it as a concept.]

[Heaven. Hm.]

You're a very dangerous man, aren't you.

[personal profile] sinfamous 2015-11-10 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Truth be told, a smile wasn't what he was aiming for but any positive reaction is a good sign. As long as Giorno was receptive to what he said it supported his belief that the children of Dio were drawn to him. It was easier to test that the others would not harm him, which he wasn't in a position to repeat twice, so he will take every hint he can glean from Giorno's actions. Although he has caught on that he was not as honest out the gate as the others. The minor differences caused by meeting during a time of chaos and a time of peace.

Anyway, Pucci is appeased to see that he more or less agrees with his theory, although mildly disappointed he didn't try to build off of it. Dio would have said something wittier, he thinks.

Calling him dangerous though. That almost gets a chuckle out of the priest but he holds it back. It was not a jump in conversation that he expected from Giorno. He would not be who he is if he didn't press on that topic, to try and understand the motive behind such an innocuous statement.]

Am I? [There's an amused lilt to his voice, like a father who was just told a fantastical story and plays along.] What makes you think that after such a pleasant conversation?
