[January] Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

[Any response he might have had to try and inject some positivity died out before it left his metaphorical tongue.

Come on, man. He doesn't have enough jokes in the world for this bullshit.]

...Yeah sure. I like pasta. It's got that hometown taste.

Commin' up!

[He abandons the bar and starts rustling around in the back. He's still got to get used to this set-up and the icebox is kind of weird shaped. Soon enough he returns with a small pot and he ladles a helping of the red stuff into the skeleton's glass.]

You can't have garlic when you're a vampire, but I'm working on somethin' to try and get that taste back.

[ a - grocery store ]

[There's a thief in the candy aisle.

... Well she would be a thief if anything actually cost money here, but luckily for one four year old it doesn't. She has a half eaten candy bar in one hand, chocolate smeared across her cheek, and an uncomfortably bandaged bulge on her back from under her yellow sundress. It's hard to re-bind her wings again without Granny's help, but she tried and did well enough to hide her feathers. For the most part.

Hopefully she'll find Granny soon or maybe the sun will set and then Izabel can help her.]

[ b - the coffee joint ]

[Hazel stands outside the coffee shop peering into the window front with her hands cupping her face to see inside better. Her nose pressed against the glass makes a small smudge when she finally pulls away to frown at the sight inside.

It isn't so much what she sees that makes her unhappy it's who she doesn't see. Hopefully anyone sitting by the window isn't put off by the frowning, horned child staring intently through the glass.]

[It isn't unusual for Izabel to visit the coffee shop. It also isn't unusual for her to wake up there, retrieving her watch after spending a good minute clinging to Giorno and threatening with a smile to never let go, but eventually pulling away and floating through the wall to go out and explore the city for any new sights. Maybe she'd stop by the station, or the clinic, see if there are any more new arrivals that are also somehow related to the Joestars. It was easier to think that than admit, even to herself, that she was searching for someone she knows.

It's by chance that she glances up from her watch, where she'd been scrolling through messages, and it's good that the chain is hanging around her arm, because otherwise it would have clattered to the ground. She was older, obviously, but those horns, the hint of binding beneath her dress, and... Izabel squints.

Her eyes. Her eyes had always been so pretty.

Those were her eyes, weren't they?]

Ha -- [She breaks off, swallowing hard. What if she was wrong?] H-hey!

[Hazel's ears perk up at the sudden outburst, as muffled as it is through the window, before immediately brightening at finally spotting a familiar face.]

Izabel! [She bounces in her spot, hands splayed against the glass, before running over to the door and pushing it open with her body weight. Briefly she wonders why Izabel would be in such a strange place, but it isn't important enough to smother her excitement as she runs towards Izabel.]

[Izabel. That's her. That's her, so this -- this is her.]

Hazel!

[Her baby Haze. Her not-so-baby Haze.]

Holy shhhuh, Hazel, you're here, and you're big! [And she has to be careful not to crash into her as she gives the little girl a real hug. She wants to pull away even less than she does with Giorno, but she does, just enough to cup Hazel's face in her hands.] Hazel, sweetie, was anyone with -- no, ha, don't be stupid, you wouldn't be --

[None of them would have left Hazel's side, she's sure of it.]

God, you're huge. I can't get over it.

[AAAAAAAA]

[She giggles with a wide grin, small hands over Izabel's as she holds her face. She taps the tip of her foot behind her as she bounces easily on the balls of her feet.] 'm not that big...! [It hasn't even been a day since she last saw Izabel so that's just silly. Her face twists into a more thoughtful expression, holding onto Izabel's wrists as she leans back and lifts up one leg to show off her boot.] My shoes are new! When I wear them I think 'm a lil' taller...

[Of course she's taking all this in stride. Hazel had always been quick to adapt, even as stubborn as she was. Izabel looks to the girl's feet, trying to get her manic grin under control.]

Oh, I see, yes! Yes, they make you giant, my not-so-little bean. They're cute, too!

[She moves her hands to Hazel's shoulders to make sure she stays steady, chewing the inside of her cheek. Hmmmn.]

Are you hungry? Or thirsty? I know who owns this building, they're really nice. They're fine, okay? So you can have whatever you want here while you tell me about your day.
skish: (12)

[personal profile] skish 2016-01-31 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh! [The smile returns in full force as she beams up at Izabel. There is something weird about the situation, but it can't be so bad if Izabel is here and looking so happy, right? Surely Granny was nearby as well as Aunty Lexis so any worries she might have had earlier were snuffed out for now.

Hazel perks up, lowering her leg to straighten up a little.]
You do? [At the mention of food her stomach rumbles quietly and the line of thought - who is Izabel's mystery friend? - is lost.]

'm hungry! And thirsty! [And then- ] For cupcakes!
sunsetsitter: (okay but let me tell you a thing)

[personal profile] sunsetsitter 2016-01-31 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You're thirsty for cupcakes, hmn?

[aaaaa she gets to tease her baby it's been too long.

She takes Hazel by the hand and, after ensuring that a steady stream of sugar would be brought their way in the form of cupcakes, cookies, and chocolate milk, gets her settled into a chair.]

Just do not ever tell Alana I'm enabling this, okay? Our secret.

[personal profile] skish 2016-02-01 05:34 am (UTC)(link)
Thirsty. [Sage nod. That is definitely what she meant.

It's easy to find distraction, looking around with wide eyes as Izabel talks to a waitress. This definitely wasn't part of the facility or if it was she had never seen it before which... was entirely possible. Still, she isn't worried yet because she isn't alone anymore and Izabel seems happy so she should be too, right?

Sitting in her chair she kicks her feet back and forth lightly and idly scratches at the bandages through her dress fabric with a slight frown. The itch is forgotten however when Izabel speaks again.]

Momma? [Her face falls for a moment as she looks down at the table mat before refocusing back on Izabel with another smile.] I won't! There's a lot to tell momma when she comes back, but I won't tell her that ... I promise!
sunsetsitter: (they're eating her)

[personal profile] sunsetsitter 2016-02-03 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh. Well that answered some questions, didn't it? Alana wasn't there. Wherever Hazel had ended up, Alana wasn't there.]

Thanks, babygirl.

[And now that things are a little more settled, she can take in more of Hazel than "wow holy crap you are super big".]

'Sup with your wings?
