[January] Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!
Master Aqua 1.1 - CRAU from an X-men game
"Ruby City," she said softly to herself, then shook her head. She called forth her Keyblade and stretched slightly. She looked around. She wasn't sure how she had gotten here, or what had happened, but she was determined to find out.
yooo
"Miss!" For now, despite knowing it, he refrained from using her name as he stepped up onto the train platform. "Ah, miss, did you just arrive?"

Rei - Star Wars - May have spoilers, will try to limit - 1.1
After spending most of her life alone, it bothered her that being on her own now felt weird. Still, she had done it before, she could do it again.
Checking that her weapons were in place, she headed off to explore this Ruby City, and to figure out where she could get a flight back home.

He was outside of the house he occupied, taking a moment from chopping wood when she walked by. Now, there was someone he didn't recognise...
Awesome then I can use the canon point I wanted!

Severus Snape | Harry Potter | Multi-prompts
The fact he was capable of waking up was surprising enough to briefly eclipse the fact that where he woke up was not the building in which he died. Sitting up, one hand immediately sought to touch his neck despite the lack of pain that his memories told him should be present. It left him wondering if perhaps this might be some strange form of an afterlife. There was one obviously, perhaps this was merely the form it had taken for him.
When the train came to a halt and he stepped off the train, that notion was disabused. He walked over to where one of the poster's hung and wondered just what in the world was going on here as he read it.
[6.2]
[He manages to find what appeared to be a cafe, and after acquiring a cup of tea from the person behind the counter, he settles at one of the tables off to the side, out of the way, yet with a decent window view. Time to turn his attention to the strange watch he'd been given upon arrival.
He took a couple minutes to familiarize himself with the controls before actually using the device.]
Who can tell me just why and how I've arrived here in this... Ruby City?
[He'd like to know just what is in store for him here, surely he had to be saved from death for something. The question is if that something is good or bad for his continued well-being. Mentally or physically.]
1.1
"Are you an undertaker?" she asked, peering up at the man. He was tall, whatever he was.

Severus Snape was slightly smaller in the flesh than in the movies but Henry attributed that towards Alan Rickman being slightly too tall for the character. He was, however, still quite an impressive man. And Henry had to remember his abilities at a time like this. He kept himself on guard, ready to defend himself with his Keyblade or apparate elsewhere if needed.
Then he called out to him, trying to look non-threatening. He was only a fourteen year old boy after all. But then again, he'd done quite a lot in the past few years. As had Harry Potter at that age.
"Hi. You must be new. I'm Henry. If you want, I could answer some of the questions you no doubt have." He was glad he left Mister Spots in the house. He would have wanted to say his own hello.

[There's an easy smile on the blonde's face, amiable if it weren't for the faint hint of mockery in her tone. She saunters over lazily, making a big show of tucking away her watch.]
May I? [She nods at the chair across from him, but doesn't wait for a reply before she slides onto it.]
6.2
.. Severus.
[Merlin, he shouldn't feel so anxious about this.]
That's a more complicated question than you might think.

Alphinaud Leveilleur | Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn |
There's a deathly chill in the air.
[The youth complains aloud as he clutches the white collar of his tunic. Having only just arrived at the train station a moment ago, poor Alphinaud found himself completely at a loss for words. The dreadful cold made the lad shiver more than once when a gust a wild blows.]
Have I not learned my lessons since Ishgard?
[The intrepid youth whines as he tries his best to ignore the cold. His Sharlayan style tunic is rather fashionable back in Eorzea but it does nothing to shield him from the elements.]
Goodness, I'll be frozen before sunrise comes--
[Just in the middle of his thoughts, Alphinaud heard the telltale sound of footsteps coming from the other end of the platform. The boy silences himself for a nonce before calling out.]
Hello? Anyone there?
[No answer.]
Surely I'm not going mad.
---
7.1.
Ah, so this is the entrance way.
[It's not often that the catacombs of this seemingly quaint city receives a visitor but they have one in Alphinaud.
The elezen youth ventured all the way here after hearing rumors about the tombs that lie in wait here. Known to be a rather adventurous young man, Alphinaud couldn't possibly pass up the chance to explore the city that lied beneath. With his trusty white tome within his hands and dressed in his usual attire, Alphinaud scales down the rusty steel ladder and hops onto the platform that leads into the underworld.]
Let us see what lies within. Hopefully my arduous journey here will prove fruitful.
[Just what is this gossipy child possibly looking for? Is the boy mad? Surely he knows of the dangerous that lurk there.]
7.1
[Perched atop the catacomb entrance, peering down into the dark, Dirk lifts his shades away from his eyes to see the youth more clearly.
Though he's certainly not dressed for battle - more dressed for the weather - he's holding the unsecured scabbard of a long katana to keep his balance, wedging the end into the rock beside him.]
The whole point of that place is that you don't go in on purpose.

cecil palmer | welcome to night vale
[Cecil Palmer steps out of the train. Or rather, he stumbles out. Crashes onto the platform like he's been shoved bodily from the car, although, should anyone be around with the intent to inspect it, they will find it utterly empty. Maybe he's just that clumsy.]
[Actually, it's fairly probable that he's just that clumsy, based on the sequence of events coming next - the stumble, of course; the catch, where he falls over his toes and gets his foot out just ahead of himself, enough so he can balance; the blank look that follows, as if he's waiting for something else. Something, something.]
[He only really makes a facial expression when the following things register: there is snow on the ground. There is snow on his shirt. There is snow in his hair. It is snowing.]
[. . . It's cold.]
[He looks up at the sky with growing wonder and, after a moment's serious consideration, opens his mouth to catch a snowflake on his tongue. Dangerous. But he lives life on the edge as a matter of habit. (Not quite true. Or at least not intentionally so.)]
B ∞ NETWORK
[The voice is sonorous, though not ominous; precise, though not loud; pleasant, though not cheerful. It's a voice that sounds like it has something important to say, even when it doesn't, the kind of voice that belongs to a man who steeples his fingers before the microphone and weaves words into pictures in other people's minds.]
[The fact that there is no microphone here and that he is in fact speaking words that should sound utterly bewildered seems to have no bearing on the matter at hand.]
I've always wondered about cities with the word "city" in the name. Never mind that this is more like a town - it's redundant, isn't it? Redundant and nondescript. A name should have a little poetry in it . . . something that calls to mind the darkest or lightest parts of things, desert heat or the kind of cold that feeling in your fingers a distant memory.
But.
[The slight sound of rustling, voices in the background. A sliver of static, sharp and piercing, and then he continues.]
I think that I'm very lost. And it's snowing. There's a big - obelisk, but not a normal obelisk, it's much less very much than you would expect from your typical obelisk, and I also think.
I think I might need a sweater.
a; screams v loudly
[It mostly went like this: Carlos had been on his way to the library (because of course) and promptly got distracted by the greenhouse (also because of course). This put him catty-cornered (to use the scientific term) across from the train station, lending him a pretty good view of what was out there.]
[So, naturally, when he finally emerged from the greenhouse (all previous errands forgotten, thanks to his tendency to get distracted), he wound up being about a good twenty feet away from the train car when it opened...though, within a few seconds, he was closing the distance rapidly.]
[In his haste, his foot struck a rock and sent him stumbling/falling/flying into a particularly large drift of snow.]
[Just...give him a little bit. Though he does look pretty cold.]

Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III | How to Train your Dragon Franchise
[ Location 1 | Scenario 1 ]
Really, guys? What did I say? Ahh. Come on! I'm serious. Would you let me go? Seriously, just put me down. What are you doing?
[Hiccup continued his tirade of questions and annoyances while his hands remained tied with the sack remained over his head. He may not have been able to see his attackers but judging by the events of the last twenty-four hours, he could guess who they were.]
This is a single worst plan you have ever come up with...
[Suddenly, he could move his hands and thus removed the sack from his head. This didn't look like the Edge. Or anywhere else he recognised.] Er...guys? Nice try but I'm not falling for it. [Standing up, he cautiously looked around until the train stopped and felt an odd sensation to leave it. He watched it go, looking around and where he was. Anyone near the train station would hear him calling for his dragon both by name and by dragon call...neither of which would work.]
I will do my best to not include spoilers.

Wednesday Friday Addams ○ The Addams Family ○ 10 - 1/2
[ There's a girl, maybe ten or eleven years old, all black braided hair and a black dress, and there is a small guillotine - where did it come from? The city might never know; she might have just crafted it on the spot; kids these days. Beside it are a series of antique dolls, likely from the antique shop she seems to be hanging around at, but what's most striking about it is how many of them are in a considerable, headless heap. ]
[ There's a clank of a mechanism and the blade goes down again, successfully beheading one more. ]
Perfectly useless. [ The girl looks unfazed, maybe bordering on just a little annoyed really. ] You can't put on a show like Marie Antoinette if you don't put your head to it.
[ Though she's talking to the dolls, she's left her watch showcasing this whole scene very much deliberately. And when the doll doesn't respond, she looks at the small device. It didn't take her long at all to figure out it had some unusual use. ]
I want to go home.
[ It's not the request of a frightened child; it's the demand of one who's probably far more mature than she's given credit for. Or flat out dangerous, whichever you'd prefer. ]
Mother and father will be worried sick. Besides, it's not fun if no one can play the victim right.
Re: Wednesday Friday Addams ○ The Addams Family ○ 10 - 1/2
Why does she have a guillotine?
Who gave the child a guillotine!?
Concern doesn't even begin to describe how Afonso feels as he picks up his watch.]
You should be careful with that, I'm sure your Mother and Father wouldn't want you to get hurt.

Osgood | Doctor Who| 1.1
She could do this. She's certainly seen worse.
Okay. So possibly not kidnapped, certainly alien. An Alien world. She wondered what she'd learn. She glanced over and then realized for the first time that she was alone. Completely alone. She closed her eyes and reached for her sister. Faintly there, the connection, just enough they'd both know the other was alive. No more.
That did make things trickier. She had gotten used to there being two. Still, she had been down to one before. She could do this. She fixed her glasses and checked her clothing. Button down with ? marks on the lapels, bow tie, vest with ? marks. Long scarf. Lab coat. She felt her ponytail was fine so it was time to explore this place, and see what needed to return with her for the Black Archives. It was only a matter of time until the Doctor showed up and realized she was in the wrong place. She had work to do before he insisted she return home.
And he would be right to insist. She had a world to protect.
But until then work. The fact that it would perhaps be the most fun she had ever had wasn't lost on her. Not. One. Bit. Grinning, she headed into the city.

The Girl | DD: True Live of the Fabulous Killjoys
[She was literally just curled up like a tiny child rock looking for little creatures on the beach. With the amount of dirt already smeared all over her, its no wonder she managed to trip someone. Doesn't mean she likes falling over into the lose sand.]
Ow, ow! What are you doing? I saw a leggy thing and now it's getting away! [She points at a crab that's high tailing it. She tries to follow on hands and knees, slow on the unsteady ground.] Help me catch it!
(8.1)
She hated being alone. Though she ran that day, she didn't like being away from people. She liked being in a city, even full of people, even less. There was too much color for it to be Bat City, she figured, but it was still making her skin crawl. She just didn't know where else to go.
There was no desert here. It was not the Zones. It's green and buzzing with well fed people and the smell was mildly pleasant rather than the stench of sweat, blood and the aftermath of acid rain. The girl was scared.
She tucked herself into the space between two buildings and started singing, off-key, one of the last songs she'd heard on the radio before she'd left. She waited, for the first person who looked the least like they might shoot her, and reached out for their arm as they walked by.
"Hey. You. Um. Where is this?"

wamuu | jjba SIGHS also every prompt is taken after sundown
[Wamuu has seen plenty of death in his long, long life. It doesn't bother him, although he is far from numb in his experiences. Each death at his hands had a purpose, whether to serve his goals or the goals of his Lords. It was simply just how it was.
So it isn't a surprise, or it shouldn't be, that he has discovered the wild Thestrals roaming along the park. Their morbid appearances don't bother him in the slightest, nor would the fact that only those who have witnessed death can see them if he knew it.
With an apple in hand he feeds it to a thestral, stroking its muzzle as it chews happily on the treat. A few more loiter around nosing at the grass and glancing obviously towards the small bag of apples near Wamuu's feet.]

Flowey|Undertale- Post True Pacifist ending!
Option 1: Train station:
[The underground didn't have trains. The closest he'd seen was that weird ferry with the hodded figure. But he'd never seen trains. He had a vauge idea that he'd heard about them, but if someone pointed to a picture of a cow and said "this is a train", Flowey would've probably rolled his eyes and assumed the other person a total moron.
Still, here he was. Near one of the exit platforms is a tall golden flower. Not a buttercup or a sunflower, but it could easily be mistaken for both considering its petals. Whoever gets closer will see a face blinking up at a poster as it reads. When he speaks, it's with his "mask" voice-- the cute, "I'm so innocent and cute that any theme park would be happy to have me as a mascot" voice. The one that gets idiots to lower their guard. The one that works.]
Ruby.. City.. Golly! Can't say I've ever heard of this place! [He looks around, all wide eyes and innocence.] Sure doesn't look like the Underground!
[Option 2: City streets]
[Luckily his transportation abilities still worked. He thought of moving and he'd move. It was different compared to the Underground but that was just because he didn't have the layout memorized yet. When he had that it wouldn't be a problem to get around the area quickly. As he popped up on one of the city streets, Flowey took a second to cope with the resulting head rush before glancing around He mutters to himself.] Let's see.. I don't need a house but there has to be somewhere I can settle in. Somewhere that's not too obvious but not too far from the main area.
[The flower slumps slightly and drags up a few tears as he sniffles. Trying his hardest to put the image out of being the equivilant of a scared newcomer although he's anything but, he gives a hiccuping cough.]
[Option 2] bear with me, this is my first time too. :'3
Only two things impeded him in that, really.
1, he knew about this flower.
2, even if he didn't, he wasn't known for his chivalry, right? Hardly.
So, Sans approached the flower, his untied high tops sounding relatively quiet due to the lack of snow on the streets at the moment.]
Aww, look at the poor flower. Better get inside, buddy. It's cold outside.

Sans | Undertale | Post True Pacifist
[So. A train. That's cool, ever since vacating the Underground, Sans had learned a lot about transportation that didn't involve elaborate elevator setups, stairs, or really plain ol' walking. He found trains alright, especially since he could take a nap during the trip.
Unfortunately, he couldn't remember having gotten on this one. Especially not with the assortment of people who he'd seen getting off the train before him, with various degrees of confusion or other such tiring emotions.
That kind of panic wasn't his bag, so he stayed on the train snoozing until by some unknown power, he was forced to make his way onto the platform.
A quick read of the posters...and then Sans took a seat leaned against a wall. All this info was so much to take in, so he decided to continue the light catnap from earlier.
Should anyone approach the dozing skeleton, his eyesockets would come alight with attention, and he'd respond simply--]
Yo. How's it goin'?
[6.1]
[Once he's fully rested and ready to explore, the first thing Sans does is trot his way to the inviting-looking coffee place, almost as if he knew exactly where he was going. Maybe he was just drawn to any place he could pop a squat and have a drink.
Either way, he walks in without much worry about what he might look like to the locals--his trip from the station to here had enlightened him to the fact that this was a land populated with humans, or mainly humanlike creatures. Still, he was just a skeleton. No one needed to freak out, right?
Sans slides up to the counter, looking for a menu to start him off. He's open to conversation though. The chill atmosphere makes the fact that he has no idea where he is that much more tolerable.]
6.1
Chen leans out of the door to shake the snow off his hat. After a rumble of laughter, he returns the straw to the top of his head and plods further into the shop.]
What wintry weather we're having today! It reminds me of my first time stepping out of Timbermaw Hold...
[He stops abruptly, fiery eyes falling on the skeleton before him. Could it be...? With a pleasant chuckle, the pandaren starts forward with a hand in the air. The other is busy holding his staff.]

[There's a thief in the candy aisle.
... Well she would be a thief if anything actually cost money here, but luckily for one four year old it doesn't. She has a half eaten candy bar in one hand, chocolate smeared across her cheek, and an uncomfortably bandaged bulge on her back from under her yellow sundress. It's hard to re-bind her wings again without Granny's help, but she tried and did well enough to hide her feathers. For the most part.
Hopefully she'll find Granny soon or maybe the sun will set and then Izabel can help her.]

It isn't so much what she sees that makes her unhappy it's who she doesn't see. Hopefully anyone sitting by the window isn't put off by the frowning, horned child staring intently through the glass.]

It's by chance that she glances up from her watch, where she'd been scrolling through messages, and it's good that the chain is hanging around her arm, because otherwise it would have clattered to the ground. She was older, obviously, but those horns, the hint of binding beneath her dress, and... Izabel squints.
Her eyes. Her eyes had always been so pretty.
Those were her eyes, weren't they?]
Ha -- [She breaks off, swallowing hard. What if she was wrong?] H-hey!
