Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.


Scenarios


1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

The landshark asked Ibuki to marry him! And then Ibuki said yes and then Ibuki asked the nurse to marry her! She said yes! And then the landshark asked the nurse and she said yes again so now we're all married!

Also, landshark is actually a dude with pointy shark teeth.

[Sofia has her back turned at Afonso when he takes his seat by the bar counter. She was busy making her snack to really bother with eye contact. She figures Afonso already know that about her anyway]

Likewise.

[She responds ever so casually, but she is curious about what has been going on in the city and Afonso himself. She should get him a drink at least. The food though, that's all her's. No touching]

Time flows differently for different universes. Even at different planets. It feels like I just took a long sleep and somehow ended up on the train this morning. It made me wonder just what this city saw in me to bring me back a third time.

[She pauses, lazily just using her own hand to flip the patty instead of taking the time to grab a spatula that's just right there]

How is everything, then? Your time away, and your return.

Oh. Good. I suppose. As long as you're all happy...

[Sofia's still not sure what to think of it, but she'll just leave it alone. She doesn't really want to get into the politics of what's acceptable and what's not in this city.]

I'd like to meet them someday. I don't think I'll be going anywhere anytime soon, so... I might as well have something to look forward to.

[Hey, you're the one that encouraged her to be in a relationship with Chiaki despite being in one with the aforementioned landshark already before...]

Sure! Ibuki can introduce you and stuff! And Ibuki has a karaoke setup that we can all have fun with, too!!

[She still remembers the karaoke you promised...]

[Sofia's face sours as she sucks her teeth at the mention of the karaoke. She forgot about that, snap. She just remembered she promised that twice]

Oh, right! Yes. Karaoke is fun... But wait, how did you get that? The most advanced item in the city I've seen are batteries. The city-wide powerlines never came to be.

Ibuki asked Chari-chan for a karaoke setup that's powered by magic! And now she has a magic karaoke setup that doesn't need electricity!! Pretty cool, right?

Oh wait, you don't believe in magic...

[esatru]

[Sofia hums thoughtfully, rolling her eyes up to think of how a "magic-powered" karaoke machine would work or be like. But she'll have to wait and see. Ibuki's comment manage to get to her in a way, looking at the young woman, Sofia responds]

Well... That's not entirely true. Not anymore.

[She's still not the one to jump to conclusions and say it's magic until every other possibility is out, but now? Magic may be something she'll finally accept]

I was in my world for more than a year. You could say a lot of things happened.

Ooh! Ibuki gets it! Sofia-chan had some character development! Now you can freely admit you were doing magic things during the fairy tale event!!

[Sofia's eye twitched as she chuckles sheepishly once more. She just had to remember that. While being a queen for a couple of days wasn't a bad thing, it's still one of those things she couldn't explain away. That didn't sit well with her pride much, but oh well. She's more open to the belief now. Like Ibuki said, character development]

Y-You could say that... Yes. I still find it difficult to wrap my head around. But I have to accept that not everything can be explained. For someone who travels to other worlds, I should have learned this truth a lot sooner...

[She sighs]

Very well, let's see this magical karaoke machine you've gotten. I did promise you that we'll do that, right?

[She hopes she's gotten better at singing by now. All those Friday night trips to karaoke bars in the last year with her wife should have given her enough practice. As if fate wanted her to sing the karaoke with Ibuki,,,]

Really, guys? What did I say? Ahh. Come on! I'm serious. Would you let me go? Seriously, just put me down. What are you doing?

[Hiccup continued his tirade of questions and annoyances while his hands remained tied with the sack remained over his head. He may not have been able to see his attackers but judging by the events of the last twenty-four hours, he could guess who they were.]

This is a single worst plan you have ever come up with...

[Suddenly, he could move his hands and thus removed the sack from his head. This didn't look like the Edge. Or anywhere else he recognised.] Er...guys? Nice try but I'm not falling for it. [Standing up, he cautiously looked around until the train stopped and felt an odd sensation to leave it. He watched it go, looking around and where he was. Anyone near the train station would hear him calling for his dragon both by name and by dragon call...neither of which would work.]

"Then tell me of the two you have met." He replied, unwilling just yet to let this particular line of questioning go without some further answer.

"That's technically not a question." Henry couldn't help but reply. It was more of an order and Henry didn't like being ordered around, even by his family.

[sternrebuke]

He didn't care for the cheeky answer. The subtle frown and the slight narrowing of his eyes quietly revealed his displeasure.

"Correct. It was a request. Now are you going to tell me of them or not?"

Henry simply rolled his eyes. Why did adults assume that age was everything? He was half tempted to ask what was in it for him, but since he'd come here to be helpful, he decided to just lay out the terms of the deal.

"How about you give me your name and then I'll tell you. I've already given you mine." Henry might have been cheeky, but Snape was being downright rude.

[sternrebuke]

That earned a slight eyebrow rise and for a minute an observer might have thought the older man was disinclined to continue the conversation due to the silence that had descended between him and Henry.

Then the man finally spoke again and broke it. "Severus Snape."

It was just a confirmation of what Henry had expected so he gave no reaction apart from his own reply. "Nice to meet you."

Then he gave a brief description of the two he'd met as requested. "I met Chari for the first time last year. She's really nice and kind and gives out Christmas presents. Alexa is just a typical teenager. She enjoyed looking at my comics and meeting my dog." There wasn't much else two them. He hadn't seen Alexa since, and had only seen Chari again when Christmas was close.

Wednesday Friday Addams ○ The Addams Family ○ 10 - 1/2

[ Early evening on Saturday, the network is greeted by a curious sight, if not a slightly unsettling one. ]

[ There's a girl, maybe ten or eleven years old, all black braided hair and a black dress, and there is a small guillotine - where did it come from? The city might never know; she might have just crafted it on the spot; kids these days. Beside it are a series of antique dolls, likely from the antique shop she seems to be hanging around at, but what's most striking about it is how many of them are in a considerable, headless heap. ]

[ There's a clank of a mechanism and the blade goes down again, successfully beheading one more. ]

Perfectly useless. [ The girl looks unfazed, maybe bordering on just a little annoyed really. ] You can't put on a show like Marie Antoinette if you don't put your head to it.

[ Though she's talking to the dolls, she's left her watch showcasing this whole scene very much deliberately. And when the doll doesn't respond, she looks at the small device. It didn't take her long at all to figure out it had some unusual use. ]

I want to go home.

[ It's not the request of a frightened child; it's the demand of one who's probably far more mature than she's given credit for. Or flat out dangerous, whichever you'd prefer. ]

Mother and father will be worried sick. Besides, it's not fun if no one can play the victim right.

[ Baby's first guillotine was a birthday present all those years ago. Of course Wednesday knows the inner workings of these things; after all, they're such educational toys. ]

You look as if you've seen a ghost. [ Or a child with a guillotine. Either way. He looks sort-of normal so seeing a ghost is probably a bad thing? ] I'm guessing you're not responsible for my kidnapping.

[Osgood looked up from the sign she was reading to look at the confused boy. She took a needed hit from her inhaler and then shoved it in her pocket. Adjusting her glasses, she walked over. She was probably just as confused as he was, but that never stopped her from trying to help. The Doctor would.]

"Are you speaking to someone in particular?" she asked, one hand around the inhaler in her pocket. "Hi, I'm Osgood."

She stepped off the train and frowned. This wasn't the Tower. This wasn't the black Archives. She wasn't supposed to be traveling with the Doctor, so... why was she here? Osgood frowned as she spotted the sign and read it. She fumbled for her inhaler and took a hit, and a deep breath.

She could do this. She's certainly seen worse.

Okay. So possibly not kidnapped, certainly alien. An Alien world. She wondered what she'd learn. She glanced over and then realized for the first time that she was alone. Completely alone. She closed her eyes and reached for her sister. Faintly there, the connection, just enough they'd both know the other was alive. No more.

That did make things trickier. She had gotten used to there being two. Still, she had been down to one before. She could do this. She fixed her glasses and checked her clothing. Button down with ? marks on the lapels, bow tie, vest with ? marks. Long scarf. Lab coat. She felt her ponytail was fine so it was time to explore this place, and see what needed to return with her for the Black Archives. It was only a matter of time until the Doctor showed up and realized she was in the wrong place. She had work to do before he insisted she return home.

And he would be right to insist. She had a world to protect.

But until then work. The fact that it would perhaps be the most fun she had ever had wasn't lost on her. Not. One. Bit. Grinning, she headed into the city.

[The little girl who answered didn't seem particularly phased by the beheading of the dolls, or the mature tone.]

"They said no one can go home," [she told the other girl, with an irritated look that all but said "Adults"] "They said we're stuck here until we aren't."

[She made a face and sat back.]

"No one here can play anything right. Weird things keep happening, but the Raggedy Doctor wont show up at all. It's stupid. Santa brought him for me last easter to fix my wall. Then he left. Then I was here. Well, after I bit the psychiatrist for saying he wasn't real. Then there were living memories. People said they knew the Doctor, then vanished. Mels was here, and then she vanished. People keep vanishing. And no one seems to care. And then I wandered into the mirrors and there were whole worlds behind them. Now some people are too cold. Or too hot. And people keep vanishing."

[She wasn't whining, she was more irritated than anything else, really. And she didn't see too many kids about her age here.]

"And I was older for a while. Then little again. But I wrote it all down."

[Not.... the oddest thing he had ever seen, but not off from it by far. He couldn't resist having a chat with this person, even though it would probably be more on his twin sister to actually get along with the girl in the long run. Friendship was far more Nadeshiko's thing.]

"If it helps any, the people at home don't seem to know we've gone, or so it seems. I was back home for a while, not quite sure how that happened. So, they won't be worried."

[A small chara - a child a handspan tall in height - floated over to hover by his head.] "You're kind of bad at this," the chara said to Nagihiko. Not knowing if she could see the small spirit - most people couldn't, he ignored it.

"Anyway, I'm Nagihiko. Welcome to Ruby City."

SCREAMS BACK

[saccades]

[That certainly was a sequence of events. Fortunately for Carlos, Cecil misses the vast majority of it, distracted as he is by the frozen, crystallized water falling from the sky. Really fascinating.]

[He is alerted to the Presence of Scientist upon the thump of man into snow. Closes his mouth, looks around, notes the shoe sticking out of the snowdrift, and trots over to investigate.]

[Hmm.]

[He crouches next to the fallen individual and plucks at his lab coat. It looks very familiar.]

I have a question . . .

[He has a question.]

Do very successful scientists in the north . . . get the Snowbelt Prize?

[For a minute, he's still and silent save for the telltale rise and fall of his back.]

[Eventually, though, he manages to climb to his feet, not bothering to even dust off the snow clinging to him--to his hair, his coat, his eyelashes. He looks exceedingly solemn.]

No, that would be incorrect. Scientifically speaking, I mean. It's just not right, you know?

[Okay, he can't keep this up anymore, a slow grin creeping onto his face.]

They'd get the Brrringer medal. Like you know, the Barringer medal for astronomy, but brrr, because that's the cold sound, and the North is cold, I think. I don't know. I need to think of better material--oh, just get over here, blabbermouth.
