NOVEMBER TEST DRIVE

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

I see. Have these deities treated you well here?
You are from Arda as well? I should have realized- you knew my name. Do we know each other? Who else is here?
[And finally he notices Aragorn's ears.] ...And I take it you are not of my kindred? Forgive me for asking, but I have never seen rounded ears before.

{If so, then he has some comfort for this kind-hearted Elf.}
Well enough. It is my own choices I should fear more. {He grins to lighten those words, but they are true. The Wargs would not have killed him if he hadn't hunted them first.}
Sadly, we never had the chance to know one another. {Glancing to the city, he motions to one stately home in particular.} We call that the Elf house. The Lady Galadriel has been here, Lords Glorfindel and Ecthelion... Currently, only Lord Elrond, Lady Celebrían, Erestor, Lord Eärendil and a pair of brothers are present in the city.
{Amusement makes his eyes shine brighter.} I am a Man; a mortal, though I am descended from Elves as well as Men. I give you my word, you will be safe and comfortable here.

[He smiles at that-Findekano has certainly never been told anything similar about his own actions before...] That is a peril anywhere, unfortunately.
I don't believe I know those...wait, Glorfindel? Laurefindel was here previously? [Well, it cannot be so bad then. And Ecthelion...got it. Does he know any Alatariels?]
[Startled] I see! I had not thought to meet a Man so soon. I am grateful for your welcome.

{Maedhros is one of the brothers he spoke of; Maglor is the other.} I must learn from my mistakes. No one can do anything more.
{He bows his head, affection clear in his smile when Glorfindel is mentioned.} He was a bright light that has journeyed back to Valinor, I suspect.
Men are not so different from Elves or Dwarves, truly. We are capable of great good and great evil. We like our crafts and our cities. We love and we hate. Most Men do not live as long as I any longer, but that does not make their lives any less.
no subject
I've certainly never managed more than that. You will hear no recriminations from me.
That only makes sense. Who would not jump at the chance to gain such company? The Valar could no more resist his light than we could.
I have not yet met a Dwarf, although we have heard of them. As I understand it my cousins...our kin across Mithrim have been dealing with them for some time.[Smiling] As for men, I think you have given them a fine introduction. [As for their shorter lives, well. Everyone would become acquainted with shorter lives soon enough; why quibble over details?]
no subject
{A smile tugs insistently at his lips.} He was reborn once and he honored me with his presence in Imladris. If anyone has earned those green shores, it is him.
You will be fond of Dwarves, I expect. They are hardy folk who are oft loyal to a fault. Be cautious of angering them, however, they do not forget nor forgive slights!
{Except for Gimli. He is a breath of fresh air and he well deserves to travel to Valinor at Legolas's side.}
I thank you for thinking so, my lord. My Ada would think poorly of me if I was rude.
no subject
He escaped the Doom then? [Maybe? It could be that he had special permission on account of being Laurefindel. That would be completely believable.]
That seems very familiar, [he admits with a smile.] Are you entirely sure that these are not my people's lost kindred?
I would be horrified to get you into trouble with your father. If I meet him, I will report on you good manners.[Oh, wait, kin to elves- should he ask about that?]
no subject
Thanks to the Valar, I believe. His death was courageous and selfless, so they brought him back - or, rather, they gave him a choice and he returned. {So yes. Special permission.}
I have wondered in the past if we are not all connected, distantly or otherwise. Eru surely smiles on us all.
{As he leads the way, he keeps at Fingon's side, expression gentle.}
Lord Elrond is my foster-father and you should meet him. He will be able to answer all of your questions concerning Arda.
no subject
That does sound like Laurefindel. [He pauses] Should I ask how he dies? I have asked that question too frequently of late, but it seems I shall not be done with it soon.
[Aragorn receives a tired smile as they walk]
I would be happy to meet Lord Elrond. And yes, what you have said leave me with many questions. I begin to think I will need to know a great deal to catch up with you all.
no subject
{Glorfindel will always be an exception.} In a great battle, defending Gondolin - and you are welcome to ask what you like of me.
{Ah that is a smile he knows well.} Are you hungry? Thirsty? Maedhros will forgive me for pausing to see to your welfare. I assure you he is well.
no subject
So they are well, or at least well enough, but they were not before? I am glad for their improvement, but that sounds more ominous than I would have hoped.
Thank you, but I will be fine. [Shaking his head quickly] This is simply not how I was expecting things to go.
