NOVEMBER TEST DRIVE

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

Action: Streets, Bad Weather
[Snow. Why did it have to be snow.
Dave's not sure what kind of world this is, so he makes his concessions to gravity and trudges, grouchily, through the slowly building drifts. He's at least dressed for the weather--Kalos gets its fair share of wet PokéEuropean skycrap--but he doesn't have to like it.
And his heart is buzzing terribly behind his ribs. Where's Silver. Where's Ryoji. Why can't he get in contact with Meridiana.
His steps quicken, but, between his anxious haste and the sunglasses on his nose (yes, even in the dark, even in winter), he doesn't see the black ice forming on the cobblestones--]
Shit!
[--And somersaults head over heels through the air like a champion.
But he doesn't fall. For a second, anyone watching might see him hover suspended mid-air like some kind of ghost. He alights carefully, holding his shirtfront with one hand and the other shoved into his pocket for warmth, trying to recover his lost poise, then glances around out the corner of his eye, shamefacedly, to see if anyone saw that.]

action
[And that was how Kirei Kotomine--gaunt, tall, and empty-eyed--found himself trying to determine just what he'd seen transpire, as one might scrutinize an anthill with a magnifying glass while waiting for the clouds to pass by.]
action
Either way, he tenses when he feels someone's eyes on him. His skin is prickling in a way that has nothing to do with the weather, and he thinks--sword or Pokéball?--before he manages to catch sight of the man watching him.
And just like that, his shoulders dip in relief.]
Father Kotomine? Thank Christ.
[Without even thinking about it, he starts to hop over through the crunching snow, hands jammed between his arms and his sides for warmth like there's no reason to think he'd need them to defend himself at all.]
What's the sitch, where are we.
no subject
[Kirei raised en eyebrow in what was actually completely genuine confusion, regarding Dave in silence as he tried to evaluate who (what) this person was and why he was addressing him like that.]
What? [The priest folded his arms behind him, a little more clearly showing a cross that someone else had taken to wearing a universe away.]

action; | i hate everything i have decided to be right now but you know what
It's cold, and wet, and she's scared and alone. It doesn't look like London, specifically — certainly London never boasted a gigantic red obelisk like that one — but mightn't it also be that she's simply been away from London for so long that she's forgotten things about it like that? Surely she's tried to block out as much of it as she could, what with the...everything.
Either way, it's tempting to just stay in the train station, at least up until the ghosts start skulking around and she ends up deciding to take her chances with exploring the snowy wet city streets instead. Some of the shops are populated, which is a small mercy; she peeks in the windows of storefronts and admires the glow of light and warmth from within them, and she's just approaching the verge of ducking into one just for the sake of getting out of the cold when she hears a very familiar Shit! echoing on the wind from down the street, and the instant she hears it she takes off running.
Which is, you know, sort of foolish, on account of the black ice and everything.
But off she goes, hopeful, a chic pretty girl in fashionable French duds, looking for the owner of that voice.]

Meridiana.
[He's still upset and nervous and fucking cold, but in a human way. Ignoring the fucking snow and, also, most laws of physics, he flies to her as fast as he can--faster, even, because there's no better use of phenomenal cosmic power than this, to be with her, and he slips the timestream like a missed stitch--and gathers her close, plants his feet solidly so the ice can't betray either of them again.]
Okay, okay, I got you. We're okay.
[He releases an almost comically audible sigh of relief.]
God, I thought I was losing my fucking mind.

[She trails off, complexion going a little paler as she clings to Dave more tightly than she's been, because no, she can put two and two together if she really tries, and it helps that it's an equation she's already been forced to add up once in her life.
It's deja vu all over again, and the experience is different but eerily the same.]
Did...do you think someone's responsible for this? Snatching us away...again...?

Damn right we're doing this
He ignores the sensation of his stomach turning over several times and tying his gut into a knot. He ignores the pressure in the back of his throat that bids him to shout out. He ignores the urge around his knees and feet that prompt him to walk forwards.
Dirk takes his shades off in a vague attempt to make himself less recognisable, and tucks them into a pocket.
I'm not doing this again.]
WHERE MAKING THIS HAPEN...... : (
Dave only sees him out of the corner of his eye at first as he brushes snow off himself, and the glimpse nearly gives him a heart attack. Time stutters for a second and Dave's gone--but not like he never was. His footprints are still there in the snow, only slowly refilling as it continues to fall.
After a long pause, a voice comes from Dirk's other side, a safe distance away.]
I'm losing my fuckin' mind.
[Dave crouches where he stands and presses his fingers up and under his shades. Enough snow has gathered in his hair and against the dark fabric of his coat to suggest he wound back enough to watch Dirk watch him for at least a little while.]

roxy lalonde | homestuck | ota
[It's not a big city, but Roxy sure did find a way to get lost. Be . . . cause of course she did. It's less a matter of the size but the layout--it's less complex and more sensible than what she's used to, which serves to make her turned around, walking a couple times around the outskirts of the city waiting for the other architectural shoe to drop before she finally settles on the confusing reality that this city sort of makes sense if you're a normal person used to normal things, which Roxy is not.]
[This train of thought says a lot about her, all right.]
[Anyway: you could catch her in her wanderings if you wanted, but she also ends up in the city square after a while, craning her neck and looking at all the shopfronts. It's kind of cool, but also seems kind of imaginary that there would be an honest to god boutique in the middle of a normal (?) city (?) or whatever (?) she doesn't know.]
[She considers this for a little while, and then, with a sudden decisive motion, grabs the arm of the nearest passerby in a surprisingly strong grip.]
Yo. Hi. Pardon vooz. I feel like you should teach me how to shop.

Then, he places a hand over the strong grip on his arm and one corner of his mouth tics up in something close to a smile.
He isn't how she remembers, probably. Older, taller, wider in the shoulders and with an air of careful caution about him when he pushes his thumb across the knuckles of two of her fingers.]
Really asking the wrong person about something like that, Roxy.
:V
[Except also: it's Dirk. Dirk, and she just stares at him, mouth gaping open like a stupid fish, until, eventually, she comes back to herself and--punches him on his stupid boy shoulder.]
Why. [punch 2] Are you trying to be cool-- [PUNCH 3] instead of hugging me!!

elena gilbert | the vampire diaries
[She keeps thinking about it. Those first few drops of human blood that completed the transition. It was enough to do that much for her, but it wasn't enough to satisfy her appetite. Part of her is terrified that there could never be enough to satisfy her appetite. She tries not to think about that part too much. It's easier to do that, but that's because the overwhelming thought of feeding, of blood, is too loud for anything else to really push its way through most of the time. It has her fidgeting when she manages to sit down on the ratty couch in the apartment she's holed herself up in for the day. It has her resisting the urge to pull at her hair while she massages her temples. It sends her pacing up and down the single hallway in this tiny one bedroom apartment over and over and over and over again.]
[But it also has her thinking of a ring she saw in a shop on the outskirts of town the night before.]
[Elena doesn't know if it the ring's enchanted or not. If it's not... Well, she might get lucky. She might be able to find someone who can enchant it. If it is enchanted though, there's two possibilities. Either it's not enchanted for her and it will have been a complete and utter waste of time. The other possibility is that it is for her and she's all set.]
[Honestly, Elena isn't sure which would really be the ideal outcome.]
[On the one hand, having a ring that works would keep her from going stir-crazy. On the other, that could put other people at risk.]
[In the end, she tosses herself back down on the couch, scooping up her watch.]
i could use some help
i'm stuck inside right now and need something to do
could someone bring me something to write with and in??
i'll owe you one

(Metaphorically? Because this is text?)
A fair someone is in need of help? Or maybe not fair, because again I can't see you?
I'm gonna chance it and say A FAIR SOMEONE is in need of a hero right now!
And don't worry! No request is too small for someone in need of assistance!
(owing me one is nice though don't forget that)
So a pen and a notebook! Or parchment! Some of the people here are old fashioned, so, y'know, gotta ask.

a pen and notebook would be fine
but i'll settle for anything as long as i can write with it

Combeferre | Les Miserables
He still had his tricolor cockade and sash, which was slightly jarring. Combeferre didn't think that political matters would exist in any form after death. Still, he just now realized just how alone he was. Shouldn't there be others? Specifically, his friends?
The Guide started walking, chewing on his lip thoughtfully.]
Hello? Courfeyrac? Jehan? Joly? Enjolras?
Combeferre!!!!!
'scuse me! Sir? Did you just get here?
[Naomi Mikano - with her purple coat, leggings, snow boots and dual colored hair - probably was most certainly not from the 1800's.]
:D
Perhaps it was natural. What an interesting thought--he shook his head to focus on the present.]
Ah...yes, it would appear so. I am afraid I do not quite know where I am, mademoiselle, or, why I am here.
[He gave an apologetic smile.]
As a fellow miserable rp-er this made me day to see!!
ooh yay! Who do you play?
Enjolras! Though not as much anymore.
oh cool!
Yeah, though it's really awesome to see a Combeferre
