Abilities: Okay I'm linking Keiko's Techniques from her YYH wiki page because there's only one thing listed and I find that hilarious when abilities take up literally half of everyone else's pages, but she's also got:

  • Book smarts: She appears to be an all-rounder at junior high, good enough in academics, P.E., and interpersonal work to be elected class representative.
  • Mental resilience: Yusuke's life-or-death demon-fighting world is obviously way beyond her, but she bounces back from each crazy event with aplomb.
  • Physical acumen: Touched on briefly in the first item, but Keiko's also no pushover, as far as middle school girls go; she can run and hit with the best of 'em.

CHARACTER
Name: Alaric Saltzman
Canon: The Vampire Diaries
Age: 35, though he looks like his age, but, he is a vampire
Timeline: 6x2 "Yellow Ledbetter"

Appearance/Chosen PB: N/A
Items with character at canon point: The clothes on his back, which include a dark green v-neck, dark grey jeans, and a pair of boots. Plus the keys to his office, car, and apartment in Whittemore, Elena's letter she wrote herself for why she had her relationship with Damon compelled away, and finally, a bag of psych books he'd been using
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?:N/A

Personality: wiki

Background: wiki

World Information: N/A

Abilities:

Before becoming a vampire, Alaric had no supernatural-slash-extraordinary powers. He was human. But, he had a knack for creating weapons used to defend himself against vampires and werewolves. This is true of his wrist-stake launcher and vervain/wolfsbane bombs. He also crafted vervain jewelry. And he's got a green thumb for vervain having tended his own garden. Alaric had also taught himself self defense. He's still a great shot with a cross bow and a gun.

Now, as a vampire he has...

☓ enhanced speed, ontop of that, the ability to "appear" behind you/in rooms super quietly.
☓ appearing in a flash, essentially.
☓ the ability to jump really high
☓ enhanced strength
☓ enhanced senses (sight, smell, taste and especially hearing, vampires can hear conversations from across a room)
☓ when the fangs come out, his eyes go black, red-black veins protrude outward (this also happens when he's hungry)
☓ the ability to compel a human not on vervain - this is making eye contact and getting them to do something/say something/forget that anything happened whatsoever
☓ he can manipulate a persons' dream state, especially when they're weakened, this is easier with humans, though, he hasn't had time to cultivate this power, it's just in his arsenal
☓ through the character of lexi, it's been illustrated that some older vampires can fabricate illusions. Lexi causes Stefan to think he's been starving for years, while Damon wastes his time manipulating fog and sending a crow places. he hardly ever uses this. again, he's owhere near this level of discipline, nor does he care enough but, just making a note of it to be thorough
☓ a vampire can never age, and they heal faster from injuries
☓ his blood can also heal a human's injuries
☓ if he feeds you his blood and you die, you wake up in transition to become a vampire

Being a vampire also means there are weaknesses...

☓ a vampire needs to be invited into a dwelling
☓ a vampire can't walk into the sunlight, but alaric has a ring that lets him walk in the sun, without it, he burns
☓ fire, a stake through the heart, sunlight, and a werewolf (or hybrid) bite are all lethal to vampires.
☓ vervain weakens a vampire if ingested or injected. it also burns. (but it also keeps an original vampire from being able to compel them)
☓ being stabbed by anything wooden is excruciating but not fatal, this is the same with wooden bullets
☓ feeding on animal blood makes a vampire weaker than say if they fed on human blood (which damon does, usually from a bag depending on canon point)
☓ older vampires are stronger but hybrids do seem to be the exception

According to canon, however, Alaric is a separate kind of - unkillable original vampire. His life force was tied to that of Elena's. When she died, he died. So, that happened but he's back. Only a white oak stake can kill him.

[ He spends days in the library, sometimes all day, because unlike other libraries this one isn't organized. When he returns, a book he'd found isn't there. He's taken to taking the books with him, screw that it's a library, he may not even bring it back this time. He thinks if he looks hard enough something about this city will make sense. Cities have history. Everywhere has history.

Some days he gets caught up on an autobiography from someone he's never heard of who couldn't exist, not openly. But, the psychometric pyromaniac who became a fireman is too good to put down. It's not long before he realizes some of the nonfiction and fiction come from all different worlds.

It's really the thing that's hardest to wrap his head around. Another world. But, it tracks. Nothing matches and the closest thing that the architecture might come to is an updated Edwardian England, what with the clock tower. Everything but the obelisk, anyway, and he keeps his distance from the Obelisk.

He begins to build his own personal library from the library and if a librarian gives him grief, he doesn't hesitate to compel them. It's something he doesn't like doing. Of all the vampires in Mystic Falls, he uses his compulsion the least. But, when it's necessary and he's in a foreign land like this, he has no qualms using it. The only other time he'd used it (when not brought back by Esther, after) was to compel Damon from Elena's mind - and that's moot now considering she's from just after becoming a vampire. So, the local librarian becomes his best friend. She smiles now when he takes books in bags with him. You may notice that she's even taken to tidying up and trying to start a system. Not that the won't take months. But, it's a start.

His main point of focus is getting Elena a daylight ring. He knows there's magic out there that can be practiced without being witch. And he knows how Emily Bennett made them. And if he can't tap into that magic, then there has to be something out there for her. She shouldn't need to be stuck inside all day and every day.

Alaric will find answers. ]

sample two.

[ If he didn't need to drink to curb the cravings, he'd still drink. Jenna's alive. Elena's not from when he remembers her from, and apparently, on something called "The Barge," Elena had a girlfriend. The idea that an Elena could be in another isolated world is brain breaking. Cross-dimensionally. All that said, most nights he can be found at The Black Stallion. It's very much his taste, and prefers it this way. Apparently, it used to have a cowboy theme and he thinks the new look is much improved. He doesn't even need to see the old look, the new look is an upgrade.

In solidarity with a gesture Damon made when he was on the Other Side, he keeps the seat to his right empty, and doesn't hesitate to be less than nice about it if somebody asks. It's Damon's seat.

Breaking what happened to Damon, to Elena, won't be easy. Jenna being here and not dead isn't easy. Being here, while a blessing in some ways, isn't easy. So, he drinks. Often. He drinks because if he finds a way home, there's no telling when they return to if they can. Is he sending Jenna back to her untimely death? Gone before her time? Is he sending Elena to Silas, to Jeremy dying, to the Travelers -- he doesn't know. And Alaric doesn't like not knowing.

He has an even higher tolerance than he used to (and that's saying something) so he runs up quite the tab most nights. At this point, he should work for the bar, but he was always studious. Tending bar wouldn't exactly thrill him. It's much more Damon's style. Or, that would be owning the bar.

He encourages Elena's drinking, if she feels like it, especially to curb the cravings. They're not exactly home. And it's not as if he ever paid attention to the drinking age. ]

Timeline: 2.20, "The Last Day"

Appearance/Chosen PB: n/a
Items with character at canon point: Clothing (including a dark jacket, a top, jeans, silver earrings, and shoes ), a set of house and car keys, a wallet
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: n/a

Personality: Wiki Link

Background: Wiki Link

World Information: n/a

Abilities: Jenna is human, so has no supernatural abilities. She will arm herself with weapons (a crossbow in particular in canon) when there's a threat posed and one nearby: whether she's fully capable with them is questionable at best. She attended college and has a degree in Psychology. Her occupation is currently in realty.

Samples:

sample one.

[ It's wrong to find relief in the fact that her teenage niece is in this city, set and firm in her knowledge and experiences of it. Wrong isn't a strong enough word. The notion that it brings her peaces cuts through Jenna's core. She's supposed to be the strong one, the guardian, the protector. Struggling through all of the drama of home, the processing of being lied to not only for months but her entire life (not that she blames anyone for Miranda never fully letting her in on vampires being more than just stories), in conjunction with being in Ruby City is difficult. She feels like she's about to be knocked over on the regular, chalking herself up as the absolute worst sort of stability known to the history of guardians.

She copes. Not well, but she's always swallowed any pain and moved on, stepping up and out of her comfort zone when she's needed to. It's not easy, and she's not good at it, but she does it. That's what you do in life, no matter what.

Alaric is...there aren't words. He's Ric, and he's there, but he's different. She can't decide who's more different, Elena or her vampire hunting, victim of body theft, boyfriend (are they still dating? has she asked him that? how much that's flown by that prevented her from getting to certain details.)

She knows that she's from their past. That for Elena, especially, there's even more involved than simple Aunt Jenna can possibly comprehend: maybe she's a little hard on herself sometimes, but she wants to be strong, to understand. It's hard. So little of this fits into any experience she's ever had, and the moments that she can analyze? She can't. Or, not completely. She struggles, each new facet presenting another rung of a ladder she's never reached the top of.

Hours buzz by and staying where Elena is, at least for the night, she heads out in the hours of the morning. If she can get a better grip on anything, alone, she wants to. She doesn't want to rely on anyone else to center her, no matter how easy it might be to give into that. Hugs and embraces, cuddle sessions for the sake of feeling more than the world crushing in on her, those are one thing. This emotional process however, she needs to handle the brunt of that on her own.

Walking through the city, she takes in the sights in much the same way she did after getting off the train. There's no familiarity in any of the shops or the people buzzing about. Sure, they're places she could see herself going into, but she's not in much of a shopping mood (what would she even buy, newly arrived?) Instead, her pace is slow, eyes searching and inquisitive. Moving along, she spots what looks to be a park.

Walking into it, stepping over onto green, she takes a deep breath when she not only hears the chattering of a squirrel, but sees its furry self scampering along a tree branch. How bad can a place with normal critters be? She doesn't outwardly appear unkind, yet she's not there for greetings, so she keeps to herself and moves to an area that's secluded. A bench underneath a tall tree. She sits, she sighs, and for the first time since arriving and after she ran into two of the people she loves the most in the world, aching careens out of her. Her palms go to her face, shoulders hunching over, quietly crying on her lonesome. It's what she wants, needs, and maybe it will help. Maybe it won't. Jenna's never known what exactly she should be doing, has never felt like her act is actually together. Even if being brought there on the train isn't her fault, it only adds to the mountain she climbs daily, trying to piece together the Sommers-Gilbert household. For the quality of the kids' lives, followed by her own. No one is more important than the two of them.

With a moment of ache, unbelieving and doubtful that Jeremy will really be okay by himself (different dimensions aside, this is real life, not fantasy, so how the hell does this even work?? it's not easy to understand, much less in less than twenty-four hours.) What if time rends in certain ways, what if he's really there alone? It's too much to take, and she sobs louder than she means to, the sound cutting off after a moment, raw and with a hard swallow. Once again, how little control she has. Over anything, especially the most important parts of life!

She never really stops thinking about the pain of late. The lies surrounding Elena. To protect Jenna. She can understand it, on a base level, but she's the grown-up! She should be doing the protecting? Who's bright idea was it leave two teenagers in the protection of a thirty year old? Her hands slide over her face, cheeks stained with tears, chin resting in her palms, breathing shallow.

One too many lies about Isobel. She can't not care about that, always one to respect herself although not entirely sure how to deepen the subject of it. Should she? Will he? No matter how much she wants Alaric in her life, and oh how she does, she's not sure what else she can, should, say. She knows she won't avoid him, or run, as a younger version of herself may have tried to do. Yet, is it fair to hurt so much when someone was lying to you to protect you, to guard your heart? Is that what all of them were really doing?

The park does bring physical peace, a balance to the thoughts that roll through her. Ones she wishes she wasn't drowning in while sitting in that bizarre city's world. ]

sample two.

[ Jenna doesn't wallow. Okay, sometimes she does, but only around certain people. If you're a stranger, you don't fall into that category (and, ironically, she falls apart around the people she wishes she wouldn't, like Elena, but this is her life, and she owns it. Mostly.)

Bouts of crying out of the way, there's nothing else to do other than find out what's really up with this place, this city, and she sets off to do that. Her stride along cobblestone is more confident after the fest of tears (it helps that it happened when she was alone), and she enters a place and asks for a bathroom, washes her face.

Stepping back out into the place's area of business, she finds a bar. That? That's what she needs. It's still early in the day, but that doesn't stop her from ordering a beer. She makes small talk, smoothly and healthily with the bartender, anyone else who happens in and is within distance to greet: she's always been a people person. A part of her wishes that Alaric would show up while she's there, but a voice creeps up that reminds her of the mess they're likely to get into if more and more is revealed. Is she ready to know more, or is standing to the side, with wide eyes only recently opened, for the better? She knows the answer to that. Doubt still taxes her though, even if its in a bitty voice.

With a couple of beers and learning a few new names, no sign of anyone she already knows, Jenna leaves and continues to wander. It's odd, being in a place so unfamiliar when she's accustom to small town Virginia. She knows every corner of Mystic Falls, she believes, and Whitmore may have been different, but still so very similar. She's not a country bumpkin, but sometimes Jenna realizes how small her scope of life has really always been. The only constant is that this place is full of people, too. Humans. Probably some of them more than just human. Not that she knows how to determine if they are, and that's something she'll want to ask Elena about.

She even peeks into a store that's selling clothing, window shopping (that same curious, doubtful gaze holding in her eyes as she goes) for the sake of checking out what the place has. She's there, will live there, so why not grow familiar? Start out with the basics. One step at a time, even if she takes a couple back here and there. Who isn't a work in progress? ]

CHARACTER
Name: Ecthelion
Canon: Tolkien
Age: Approximately four thousand, appears in his mid twenties
Timeline: After he's been reborn in Valinor, has Ruby City memories
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: While he and Elrond would know of each other, I'd say there's enough time between their canon points that it would be simple to keep them apart.

Personality:
Ecthelion's dealt with a great deal of hardship, from having witnessed the First Kinslaying, then crossing the hazardous Helcaraxe and developing a strong dislike of all things cold and frozen, to facing Morgoth and various other enemies along the way and still remaining strong and resilient. He kept to the core of himself, holding stubbornly to what he feels is right and fiercely protective and willing to lay down his life if he deemed it necessary (which he does, when he finds himself with no shield or sword, just his helmet with its diamond spike, and drove that into the belly of Gothmog to send them both into the Fountain and drown them both to save those few who could escape).

While he is firm, he is also fair. He's willing to listen to reason and logic, and there are few that he will take purely upon their word (namely Glorfindel and Turgon, but also Ulmo). His mind or decision can be changed or influenced, since he originally refused to let Tuor enter Gondolin. He relented when Tuor displayed Ulmo's sigil. This ends up being a very good thing, for it's Tuor whom he eventually fought beside, and Tuor who saved his life by carrying him away from battle so he could regain his strength. (Not to mention Tuor married Turgon's daughter, and their son Earendil ends up being important in the future.)

Ecthelion is also very kind, patient, and warm, loyal to his friends and kin. He's willing to sit for hours with children, whittling willow whistles and playing his flute for them. His love of music extends to both song and the flute he keeps with him, even in battle as he leads his House into battle to song. His voice can command to the point where even his name strikes fear in his enemies, and his name has been taken up as a Noldor warcry even after his death.

But he's not without the Noldor habit and love of things shiny. In particular, the House of the Fountain which he is head of, is rather fond of silver, diamonds, and crystal. They adorn everything with them, armor, shields, swords, etc. Their swords are known for being long and bright.

Background: Tolkien Gateway
Ecthelion was born in Tirion, and grew to know many of those who resided there. He tucked himself into Turgon's retinue when Fëanor urged the Noldor to travel after Morgoth. By that time he'd become adept enough at fighting to hold his own, but when they arrived in Alqualonde, all he could bring himself to do was protect Turgon.

Fëanor betrayed those who had followed and aided him, and those left behind who did not turn back had no choice but to cross the Helcaraxë. Ecthelion was among those who survived the harsh crossing. They settled in Vinyamar for some time before Turgon led him and the rest of the Noldor there, in secret, to the newly built Gondolin. There he stayed, rarely venturing out except on patrols as his skill and knowledge grew.

He became a captain of Gondolin, head of one of the Twelve Houses of the Gondolindrim – the House of the Fountain. He was part of the three-person guard who sought to bring Aredhel to meet her brother. Along the way, Aredhel heard the Sons of Fëanor and wished to see them. They weren't permitted into Doriath, so were forced to go around, and take a more dangerous road where they were lost in shadows, separated from her, then attacked before they could reach their destination. They returned to Gondolin disheartened and without her.

Ecthelion fought beside Turgon, leading one of the wings of Gondolin's forces in the battle Nimaeth Amoediad. Despite the Noldor being defeated, he defended so that Turgon could retreat. He also survived the battle, and returned to Gondolin as Warden of the Great Gate. As Warden, when Tuor and Voronwe came, asking for entrance, he denied them until Tuor made reference to Ulmo. 'The Lord of the Fountains will not oppose the Lord of the Waters'.

In the last battle of Gondolin, Ecthelion led his reserve forces from the southern part of the city with a warcry commanding the death to their enemy to such a degree that he is remembered, for his very voice struck terror in the enemy. He fought beside Tuor and Tuor's house until they succeeded in reclaiming the Gate. In the process, Ecthelion slew three Balrogs before his and Tuor's forces were outnumbered and they were forced to retreat.

Ecthelion alone stayed behind when the enemy approached the Fountain, allowing the remaining army of Gondolin to retreat. In buying time, he faced the lord of the Balrogs, Gothmog, and duelled him. Despite losing his sword in the process, Ecthelion threw himself at the Balrog, the spear-point of his helmet first, and skewered Gothmog, sending them both into the Fountain due to loss of balance. Both drowned in the process.

CHARACTER
Name: Makoto Naegi
Canon: Dangan Ronpa
Age: 19, maybe almost 20?
Timeline: Same as Mint’s chosen canon point; a short time after escaping Hope's Peak academy, but before he would've joined the Future Foundation in the canon timeline and before Super High School Level Despair was apprehended.

Appearance/Chosen PB: n/a
Items with character at canon point: Just the clothes on his back!
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?: n/a

Personality: Naegi Makoto is a person who believes in the future.

Eventually canonically gaining the title, ‘Ultimate Hope’, he takes optimism to the extreme. In his eyes, no situation is too dire to fix. No broken person is beyond being healed. Initially, this may seem like a very naïve way to see the world, and Naegi does feel a crushing kind of hopelessness in the face of any betrayal as a result of the faith he holds in everyone. However, it is also a great strength, in that he’s very capable of motivating others, drawing them together and giving them a share of his hope. He has a talent for the cliché rousing speech, with the added bonus that he gets to know each of his friends well enough to know exactly what will personally motivate them.

Apart from this, Naegi is an exceedingly average person, even by his own admission. Deep down, despite his joking about the fact, he does carry some insecurity about how very average he is. He recognises that everyone has individual strengths, and admires those with talent. He believes that the best way to get through a trial is to work together, as a team.

He is an open book emotionally. Whatever Naegi feels, it shows on his face. He’s generally very honest in his feelings, and it’s a good thing, because he wouldn’t do very well at hiding them if he tried. It can get to a point where it’s almost embarrassing to watch. He’s also very considerate of the way others may be feeling, even if they aren’t as good at expressing it.

Of course, the fact that he can read personalities well doesn’t mean he always knows what to do. His hesitance and caution in any slightly awkward or delicate situation comes across in his speech patterns as he often punctuates his words with stuttering and a whole lot of ‘uh’ing.

Although he does not show it outwardly very often, Naegi can be quite snarky and sarcastic. However, he tends to keep these sorts of thoughts to himself. To others he may seem like a bit of a pushover, and he definitely has a tendency to wilt under confrontation. He knows he’s not the fighting sort. Despite this, at his core he is very strong and determined, so if it’s something very important to him, Naegi will stand his ground and find his courage.

No matter the cost to himself, Naegi is the type of person to do absolutely anything for his family and friends. Even when faced with the threat of being executed for a murder he did not commit, his biggest worry is that his other friends will be killed for wrongfully voting for him. Naegi is that friend who would pick you up at 4am with no questions asked and even bring you food and a warm blanket to sleep in the backseat. He’s a very kind and gentle person, and won’t hesitate to support or reassure his friends in any way they may need.

Background: On this wiki is a summary of Naegi’s life before the tragedy, of the school days he’s had erased from his memory, and of the killing game he was forced to participate in. He’s being taken from the end of Trigger Happy Havoc/DR1, where he’s escaped with five other survivors into a very much destroyed Japan.

World Information: n/a

Abilities: As far as physical strength goes, Naegi is entirely average. He has no particular skills when it comes to fighting or defending himself, and no special abilities. However, he has very good observational skills, and a decent ability to piece together clues to come to the correct conclusion, as evidenced by the trials in canon.

Naegi also canonically holds the title of 'Super High School Level Good Luck', as he was picked at random to attend Hope's Peak Academy by a lottery. However, his luck proves to operate rather interestingly, to say the least. Oftentimes something very unlucky will happen to Naegi that later proves to have ultimately saved him from something far worse. 'Indirect luck' is a good way to describe it, and it's definitely not something Naegi relies on or 'uses'.
