[Ooo a new person with attitude, interesting. James recognises her position and flies on his broomstick to meet her. But as he gets closer, there's something about her making him slightly wary. So he hovers a few feet above her, letting his voice carry down.]

Why? I can't help you with. But where? Now that's another matter.

[Let's just say Kate Argent isn't used to seeing people flying on broomsticks.

She looks up, does a double-take, and steps back.]

Weeell then. Hell...o there. What exactly are you doing?

I'm flying my on my broomstick. What does it look like I'm doing? [He laughed.] It's quicker than walking.

[So not in Kansas anymore, Toto.]

Yes, well, in muggleland we don't usually ride around on broomsticks.

[Kate, darling, if only you knew how coincidental your word choice was.]

How about you get down here and do me a little favour?

Well yeah, Muggles can't fly on broomsticks. That's why they're called Muggles. [So much stating the obvious here, maybe her attitude was masking her lack of intelligence. Then again, she'd obvious read the books so she can't be that thick.]

Depends what the favour is.

Sweetie, are you saying you're some kind of wizard?

[What.]

Yes. James Potter, at your service.

[He winked, assuming she'd know the name, before jumping down from the broom and holding out his hand for her to shake. The broom slowly descended behind him.]

And you are?

[Ohhh. This is some kind of theatrical joke, right?

...Then again, she did get plucked from death. Or maybe she didn't.]

[She takes his hand, smiling as she shakes it.]

Kind of new here. James Potter?

Argent? You're not related to Allison are you?

[After shaking her hand, he sat down on the broom that was hovering at just the right height.]

I guessed. [James nodded.] Yes. My son is called Harry and has been the subject of many books in many different worlds. But I assure you, I do exist.

[She looks just so pleased.]

I'm supposed to meet her later. She was acting weird. Kids, right?

[Then again, she's the one talking to James Potter.]

Well, I've read... all about your son. You must be... so proud.

Yeah. She's currently living in one of the rooms above my cafe.

[James shrugged.] I don't know that much about her yet but I'm sure she's fine.

I am. Shame I had to die though really.

[She crosses her arms, nodding-- and filing her niece's location away.]

It is! But from what I've heard... things aren't exactly that way here, now, are they?

Yeah. A lot of people use it as a hotel but I'm hoping her and her friends stick around.

Well no. The city was kind enough to bring me back to life so I can spend my days being tormented in comfort and paranoia.

Already made some friends, has she? That's my girl.

[She puts her hand on her hip, raising a brow- but maintains her smile.]

We don't all have to die to get in here, hm?

Yes. It's not that hard to make friends with fictional characters.

[He chuckled to himself, watching her from his perch on his broom.]

Oh no, there's only a small dead community. We meet every Thursday.

Lily must have her hands full with you.

[She laughs a little, genuinely amused.]

Well, that's good to know. I'd hate my niece to be dead, young as she is.

So I'm guessing this isn't an afterlife and we really have been kidnapped.

[Hey, coming back from the dead was a good enough deal for that.]

Oh she does. But she hasn't been here as long as I have.

[Her amusement relaxes him slightly.]

Death isn't all it's cracked up to be. But like I said, there's only a few of us dead people. Remus and Sirius are here and they're certainly not dead. Not yet anyway. So yes, mostly kidnapped.
