[What he's feeling now... It's similar to that sensation that washes over him when Claudia is in pain or Caren in misery. It's very satisfying, somehow, although part of him still rebels against this form of pleasure. He remains as calm as Rin is angry.]

I told you that was impossible, but I'm certain I did nothing to cause your father's death. I can assure you of that.

Both of them? [Then she's orphaned? He had known Tokiomi's death was very possible, but his wife had died as well? He wouldn't have expected that. [Claudia wouldn't approve of this, but Claudia isn't here, and Kirei doesn't care. He leads the way to the station, then down the railroad tracks, toward the forest.]

[ Aw yes, it's time to see a real monster! Rin might have ran into them in the anime, but to be checking them out with Kirei himself. Maybe he can prove to be a good person and kill a couple of them. ]

I can't wait to see! I'll fight them and everything, hoo-ha! [ Yes, she's practicing some punches while skipping alongside him. ]

[This wasn't exactly the reaction he'd hoped to inspire, but he's decided on this course of action. He doesn't say much himself, maintaining a stony silence in response to Rin's enthusiasm. He continues into the forest, and the trees close in, dark and thick.]

Our presence is clear enough. Now all we have to do is wait.

[ She stops skipping to stand at his side with anxiety seeping into her mind. ] Do we really just have to wait?

That's right.

[You must be patient and wait for monsters, little child.

He keeps walking through the forest, albeit more slowly, taking no pains to hide his presence. He would usually be moving in silence, but he's sure to make some noise this time.]

It shouldn't be long.

[ Once he takes a few steps away from her, Rin quickly hurries to chase after him like a little girl would. Looking back and forth in anticipation, her fright hasn't fully cultivated just yet. ]

Don't you think it's getting late, Kirei?

It will be dark soon.

[He's taking the time to cultivate that fright.]

Stay close to me. We might be attacked at any moment, and the monsters can be quite fast and vicious.
