[The logic of this place seriously gets his licorice in a twist. Rules he happens to be familiar with apply here and this isn't his idea of a thrill ride. Or any ride, for that matter.

When the fudge frosting was the last time he's raced?

It is the only reasoning to why he is doing his best to gather up all the chocolate in one cart at the grocery store. Clearing off one shelf and trying to read up to the one above it. Only, it may not be enough. This place has very little to offer and it is in such small packaging! It's irritating.]

[promisekept]

[What is this kid doing? He's not really going to eat all that chocolate, is he? Well, it seems like the kind of thing a kid might think is a good idea.

Cloud tosses an apple into his cart, with a faint smile.]

Here. You'll live longer.

[rancis]

[What-- What is this abomination? Fruit has never been featured in any kart he has had in the past. Why are they going to start this now?]

What are you talking about?

[He isn't stupid. He is going to promptly remove that apple from his shopping cart and set it on an empty place on a shelf.]

[promisekept]

Nutrition.

[Cloud's memory has never come back completely, and one thing he's still hazy on at times is the names of fruit, but apple he's got, at least.

He lobs another fruit into the cart. This time, it's a banana. He doesn't remember the name of that one. They're not common, at home.]

[rancis]

[This guy really isn't going away. Huh. Just, gosh...Who goes around with their hair like that? Merely associating with the guy is embarrassing enough.]

Nu...What is 'nutrition?'

[Does it help make his kart go faster?]

[promisekept]

[Hey, his hair just goes this way. Some people have--different hair. It's a fact of life. Don't judge. At least Cloud knows what "nutrition" is.]

Good nutrition means eating healthy. Vegetables, fruits, grains, stuff like that.

[Not that Cloud's always the best eater, but he sure doesn't fill carts full of chocolate.]

[rancis]

[At least his nickname isn't Spiky. Calm down with that nutrition nonsense over there, dude.]

What does eating have to do with any of this?

[What a nosy guy and he didn't even know what he was going about.]

[promisekept]

[Hey, not everybody calls him Spiky. Just a guy or two. At least he's not-- some weird kid.]

Okay...

[W h a t.]

So you're taking all that candy and you're not gonna eat it.

[Where is this even going?]

[Right, because he's a Final Fantasy. That's nice.]

Um...Why would I? It's for my kart. I need to build one so I can race.

[A dur-hur!]

[promisekept]

[It's not nice, as being a Final Fantasy is suffering, but he'll thank you to respect him, young man.]

Your kart.

[Silly kid, racing is for chocobos, not chocolate.]

You're building a kart out of that. To race. Race what, exactly?

[Other kids with melting lumps of cobbled-together chocolate?]

[How's Kingdom Hearts going for you, then. He is going to be in that someday, believe it.]

Yeah, what else am I going to build my kart out of?

[Surely he isn't going to use real car logic.]

And just to race whoever. It's boring with no races. I have to race.

[promisekept]

[He doesn't know what this "Kingdom Hearts" you're referring to is.]

I don't know. Wood, metal? Not candy.

[What did kids build karts from? He'd never really had one.]

You want to race that much? [Cloud shrugs.] I'll race you. [Why not? He's a sucker for kids, even weird ones.]

[rancis]

All of my karts have been made in the bakery.

[This guy doesn't seem to know anything. But by now he has come to terms that obviously not everyone is from a video game.]

Wait, huh? You want to race me?

[Mister crazy hair over here? He probably doesn't even wear a helmet.]

Okay, I'll race you!

[repine]

[She watches the blond child empty the shelf of chocolate. Surely he didn't plan to eat it all. She supposed like her, his parents weren't here either only he was taking advantage of the fact.

Well, it couldn't turn out too bad. She'll brush her hair behind her ear before making up her mind to help the kid fill up his cart. She reaches up higher on the shelf to grab a few chocolate bars and drops them in his cart. She then turns to face him and gives him a smile.]

[rancis]

[Well, he certainly isn't capable of reaching that high on his own. He stops with his own side of the work to watch the lady. This feels like a familiar scenario but he refuses to let himself get hooked! All of this may be a plot to sabotage. He can't trust her.]

Hey, who are you?

[repine]

Maria. [That was her name and who she was. She knows that may not be enough but she only meant to help him get the chocolate. Nothing more.] Do you want all of these? [She asked as she continued to empty the shelf.]

[rancis]

[He's going to slowly nod. From what he can tell, she isn't doing anything too terrible.]

Yeah, I need them for something.

[If anything, she is actually being rather helpful. She is able to clear off the taller shelves for him. But...]

What do you want?

[repine]

Oh? Nothing at all. [She smiles as she can only imagine one thing to do with all that chocolate. She would pick out more bars to drop into the cart. There was more chocolate higher up but she could get to it too.]

If you can't reach these I'll get them for you but you won't eat them all at once, right?

[rancis]

[Now he is going to watch her. Strange lady, with no doubt.]

Of course not. I'm not going to eat any of it. I need it to build my kart!

[repine]

[She was puzzled by what he just said. How did one build a kart out of chocolate?] Huh? I don't think that would be all that useful.

[She picked up another bar and inspected it. Well perhaps this was not normal chocolate, after all it was wrapped up so neatly. She tried to read the label. Hershey's.] Hey, how do you do it? Build a kart out of these?

[rancis]

What should I make my kart out of, then? Do you even race, at all?

[He can make use of the hard candies, maybe...

But he likes his idea, better, really.]

You just...build it, really. You just need to know what you're doing!

[repine]

[She shook her head at him. She did not race. But since he seemed so sure about this and it really couldn't hurt anyone she wasn't going to object to what he was doing. It was all candy after all.]

Know what you're doing. Okay, I'll watch and learn from you.

[rancis]

You're going to watch me. Okay, lady, sure.

[Because a newbie is suddenly going to figure out how by watching. He pushes his shopping cart along, slightly, not being oblivious to the weight it's gaining.]

[repine]

Of course. And you will teach me what you know. [She would laugh merrily. She gets it. His tone made it obvious.] After all, who else knows as much you do.

[And she will continue to empty the shelf. Some of the chocolate bars were out of her reach but with her Power she could get them down and into the cart.]

[rancis]

[Was she making fun of him? But nevermind that, something is going on. The chocolate doesn't have legs and yet--]

How are you doing that?!
