You're in a place called Ruby City. It's a little complicated to explain, but no one here got here because we wanted to. We all just found ourselves on the train, same as you.

[ that shiver didn't go unnoticed. as he speaks, he's unzipping his coat and shrugging out of it before he holds it out to the kid. ] Here, borrow this. It's a little big for you, but it'll keep you warm till we can find something more your size.

[Ruby City huh? Kerry wasn't sure he'd heard of it but there were bound to be places his father hadn't yet tried to hide in. Blinking slightly, he took the jacket with a grateful smile.] Thank you. But you'll get cold instead.

[As he pulled the jacket around his shoulders, he remembered the device in his hand.] Can you tell me what this is?

Oh, don't worry about me. [ he laughs slightly. ] I'm tougher than I look, and I don't live too far from here in any case.

The watch? It's some sort of communicator. You can use it to send messages to anyone else in the city.

Do you want to head in that direction then while we talk? [It was nice to loan your jacket out to a complete stranger but Kerry didn't want someone getting hurt because of him. Not again.]

...Anyone? How many people are here?

If you want to. It's probably not a good idea for anyone to stay outside for too long in this weather.

[ at the question, he shrugs slightly. he doesn't want to let on how much it bothers him in front of a kid, much less one who's only just arrived here and probably has more than enough concerns of his own, but he isn't entirely sure. and that's still more worrying when more and more people get drawn in by their captors every week. ]

I honestly don't know, but more people turn up every week. The people in charge here seem to want us around for some reason.

Yeah. [Not that he remembers being in such weather before.]

New people turn up every week? Why do they want so many people? [Did they expect him to know something? Was this about his father's work?]

That's a mystery too. According to someone else, they only bring in people they find interesting. [ Kariya himself still has doubts about that theory. ] ... sorry, I know this probably makes everything sound a lot more worrying than it should be.

[ he sighs slightly. ] Anyway, we should probably find someplace warmer before we get into all that. What's your name?

Kiritsugu. But most people call me Kerry because it's easier to say.

[Nodding, he smiled again, pulling the jacket closer around him against the cold.] Lead the way.

[ he nods, and lead the way he does, walking away from the station at whatever pace is most comfortable for the boy beside him. ]

I'm Kariya. [ he smiles a little. it is a bit of an odd-sounding name, but nothing too difficult. ] Which one do you prefer?

I'd prefer Kiritsugu but Kerry is fine. I'm used to it. Nice to meet you, Kariya.

[He easily kept pace with the older man, adrenaline still flowing easily through him.]

Kiritsugu it is, then. You're from Japan too then, huh?

[Smiling, he nodded. It had been a long time since someone had manage to say his name correctly.] Originally yes but I don't remember it. Me and my dad travelled a lot. [And that's all he has to say about that.]
