[She purses her lips together slightly. It's a strange thing to have someone his age say, she thinks, but she supposes he could just be mature for his age.]

Since you might be here for a while, you should know that food, clothing, and shelter are all free, so don't worry about not being able to pay for things. [Though she doesn't like the idea of him being on his own.] There are apartment buildings with empty rooms. You might want to stay in one of those, so there are people close by in case you need anything.

That's right. There are several stores here, and they always seem to be stocked. You can find most anything you need in them.

[Oh, but there's the library. She opens the door and leads him inside.]

Once you're warmed up, we should get you some clothes that are more suited to the weather.

[In all honesty, besides the weather, the change of scenery was welcome.]

[Finally entering the warm, he kept the new coat around him. Maybe when he warmed up he would relinquish it. For now, he stared at the mountains of books.]

[He stared at her. Video, voice and text communications all in a device that's as small as his hand. How on Earth...?]

Anyone within the city. We're all given one when we arrive.

How many people live here?! [Surely it couldn't be too many...right?]

Ah, well... It's a little hard to say, since sometimes people disappear. With new people coming in, too, the number can change even from day-to-day. If I had to guess, I'd say... Maybe 100 people?

[One hundred! And on one device. He had no idea! He clearly looked amazed even though he didn't say anything. He needed a moment to take it all in.]

Mm! Since it's cold out, if you promise you'll stay here in the library, I can go ahead of you and find you a new set of clothes to wear. That way, when I help you look around later, you won't have to worry about the weather at all. There are plenty of books here, so there's plenty for you to do until I come back.
