TEST-DRIVE MEME

Maybe you've considered appping a new character but you're not sure how well they would adjust to the in-game scenario? Well, here's a chance to give it a try!
• Post with a character journal you'd like to voicetest or you've considered apping to Ruby City. Feel free to play them as newcomers or as if they've been here for a while - the setting is your own choice.
•Respond to other threads with new characters or with characters who are already in the game.
• Explore different interactions, find castmates, develop possible CR - anything you want, as long as you have fun!

Either absent or part of the general populace. I know some of the necessities shops restock themselves without any help from the peanut gallery, but some people have converted houses and other spaces into shit like tea shops, a bar, an armory, stuff like that.
As for the fucking people over, it's just got something you've gotta see to believe. Last weekend our clothes disappeared and got replaced with completely different outfits. Sometimes, it's hells of more serious.

[That would be a little concerning if she hadn't already picked up on the fact that time works differently here.]
Everyone loves a tormenter with a sense of humor, I suppose. At least the clothes-switching was probably worth a chuckle.

From what we can tell, no time passes back wherever you came from when you come here. If you go back, you just go on like nothing happened.
[He chuckles.]
Either that or a nigh-critical case of secondhand embarrassment.
[No shame. None. This Dave is actually genuinely shameless, not just guarding his weak spots.
You should've seen his legs in those heels, though.]

That's a convenient loop. Perhaps even more beneficial than it is disappointing.
[Hm. Rose might find herself quite enjoying a shameless Dave.]
Secondhand, hmm?

Y'see, Rose and I thought that the dress suited me just fine. Not my favorite kind of neckline, but I could deal.
[A playful smirk.]
Dirk disagreed.

I think you would look lovely, actually. Dirk must have no idea what he's talking about.

Can't really fault him for that, though, right there on the list they give to guardians upon accepting the call, along with prepare the little shit best you can, is embarrass the hell out of them at every available opportunity, and I got hells of lost time to make up for.

Anyway lucky for you, Casa Stri-Lal is perfectly outfitted to house as many Roses as we can hold; if you're looking for a place to stay.

Need me to come pick you up?

[She doesn't really think of it that way, not now at the very least. Her only family was--is?--Mom. Dave is still more a bff than he is an ectobro and she never knew Bro. And she can't quite bring herself to think of all these AU Strilondes running around as "family." Friends, perhaps, or people to whom she has undoubtedly strange and strong connections to, for one reason or another, but not quite "family."
But perhaps Alpha Dave has known a few of the clan long enough to consider them such.]
Davesprite has it covered. He's been kind enough to begin an explanation of the "house rules," which actually sound more like "nest rules" to me.
[She's kind of really getting a kick out of the nest thing.]

[STRIHANA MEANS FAMILY, ROSE. FAMILY MEANS NOBODY GETS LEFT BEHIND.
Give it time. The sheer dysfunction settled into one house tends to grow on you after a time. And actually, when he arrived in the city last year, the only one he really knew was his Rose. 'Course, he felt like he practically knew Dirk, but that was Guardian Powers.
Dave smiles.]
Well then I'll let canary Dave give you the 4-1-1. You wouldn't be wrong about the nest thing. Mess with it and you'll be eating feathers in your cereal for weeks.
