So she'll squeeze him again, maybe take a deep breath of Dirk smelling air and back up enough to look up at him. He can pull away if he likes but she'll keep her arms around him until he decides to do it.]

It's not a mistake to care about people, Dirk. He may be a pain and a complete goober and he's being selfish by hiding away from you but I've been just as bad by acting like I have been and for yelling at him like I did. I wish we didn't have to deal with all this and we could all just be happy instead but... [sniff]...
