rubycitymodsHey there, kids! Dae here, just giving you all a little heads-up that we have an Event coming up! You like events, right? Right?
No?
Okay well too bad, because you're getting one.
Starting this afternoon(Friday, June 28), the watches that act as communicators for the city's residents will begin to malfunction. Not too badly at first, but enough to make them unreliable. Over the next few days, their reliability will continue to deteriorate. They will not be taken entirely offline at any time, but they definitely shouldn't be counted upon. The whole aim of this is to encourage characters to get out of their usual social circles and interact with new people, but feel free to play around with how exactly they malfunction-- Missent/unsent messages, feeds that cut out halfway through, random bursts of sound in the middle of the night, whatever! Have fun with it.
It will, of course, not be the real concern.
In the early hours of Monday, July 1, the city's defenses will be rendered entirely null. The obelisk in the city's center will be broken, and the pieces cast to the proverbial four corners of the island upon which Ruby City is kept. For reasons that will be clarified in the RP Community post that will herald this event's official start, it is Very Very Important(tm) that those pieces get retrieved.
That's where you come in, guys!
The captors are not going to just magic those bad boys back into place. So in addition to defending the city from the various nasties that usually stay away from it, it will be up to the residents to go out and find them. Some of the larger pieces will be given a specific ridiculously dangerous location where they can be found, and for those we would love it if volunteers stepped forward, either solo or in teams. If you would like to volunteer, please comment below in the appropriate thread to claim that spot. Other, smaller pieces, can be found around the island if you'd still like to play out finding them without needing to claim any of the specifics-- that way there's a little bit more freedom.
This event will run until Wednesday, July 10, at which time all the pieces will have been recovered(The NPCs will manage any of the unclaimed ones, if any are left) and the city's defenses will be put back in place.
Due to the nature of this event, character death is a very real possibility.
Consider this your formal warning.
Any characters who die during this event will be free of the usual repercussions and will not need to fill out a Death Request, but they will stay dead until the end of the event. So keep that in mind, and do be careful!
Feel free to post any questions, comments, or general plotting in the appropriate comments sections below, and as always, have fun!
