Hi there, Ruby City! Kitten-mod here to give you a brief post as to what’s going to go down on April Fool’s day, as it’s quickly approaching. While the element of surprise can sometimes be fun, plotting in advance, even just a little, sometimes serves us well. So here goes!
Around late afternoon of Monday the 31st, there’s going to be flowers blooming around the city in small patches. For example, you will find these flowers lining the river, circling the obelisk, and perhaps even creeping through damaged cobblestones. Rich blue and pretty to the eye, they smell just as nice, and the further from the city one goes, the more likely it will be that they will find greater patches of these flowers if they’re keen on collecting them. After all, who wouldn’t want something as pretty as
this?
Unfortunately, the substance is known as
Poison Joke to those who are familiar with it, and it can cause a variety of affects upon whoever comes in contact with it, usually within twelve hours of touching the flowers or sniffing too much of their pollen. It is unclear how these flowers will have come to grow in and around the city, but they’ll mature quickly by Monday afternoon, and wither away by Tuesday afternoon. The effects of Poison Joke are subjective to whoever is afflicted. That is, someone with wings might find that they are wholly unable to use those properly, or that they are flipped upside-down on their body. Another example would be vocal alterations, silly physical anomalies like polka dots and size changes, basically anything falling within that range. Of course, if you have any questions as to limitations, we moderators will be around to help for this portion of the events!
Now, although the Poison Joke itself might seem a mess for everyone, it’s not the only pressing matter that the city will have to contend with. Let us not forget that aside from certain captors and their…senses of humor…the city is also home to the spirit of chaos and disharmony. A creature who has thus far behaved himself, mostly due to the fact that his powers do not affect the city on the whole.
However, for this one day only, Discord will find that his powers are given full reign, and while he’s never needed convincing to misbehave, he’ll be finding himself twice as inclined to cause trouble for other people on the streets—which he may just turn into gelatin for fun.
There will be at least two posts during the next few days, one announcing the arrival of Poison Joke, and then I, Kitten, will provide a post detailing Discord’s various shenanigans upon the city, all of which may be avoided by just staying inside if you like! He’s not going to seek anyone out, he’ll just cause havoc outside, so you may opt out from how he affects the general area.

NOTE: Due to questioning both here and on plurk, I'd like to clarify that the Poison Joke only affects characters in basic ways, in line with practical jokes one might play on another.
