Despite the fact that midwinter has passed and the end of the year is fast approaching, the weather is continuing to get colder. Every morning is met with a thick frost that doesn't melt entirely until long past midday, and even days where the clear blue sky and bright sunshine would mean heat in the summer time are brisk and chilled. Watch out for those patches of black ice, citizens - some of them seem to have been placed in often-walked spots entirely on purpose.
There seem to be less monsters around at the moment, though that may be because the cold is finally killing off the weaker ones. That, of course, means that the stronger are currently managing to find enough food to keep them off the city residents, but that may not last very long.
City News
Unfortunately for the city residents, the damage done by the Mouse King and his minions didn't disappear when he was defeated. Although the buildings that turned to gingerbread did indeed return to their former states, they didn't return whole. Some houses and public buildings are currently sporting structural damage, even to the point of being dangerous. It would definitely be doing a good turn to get that fixed up as soon as possible!
For the first time, Chari made herself known as the one who gives out requested gifts on December 25th. She so enjoyed the reception she got that she doesn't regret it at all. Lexington, Ariel and Callie have also been viewed arguing over the events which led to the unleashing of the Mouse King on the city, and the hints unintentionally given likely do not bode well for the future.
The red pine tree is still present and will be until the eve of the New Year, when it will return to the usual shape of the ruby red obelisk. At this time, the strangely compelling mistletoe will also lose its persuasive powers. For the rest of the week there will be some fireworks available in the general store, though nothing too showy - Gene Jecklin has a surprise planned for New Year's Eve, and he doesn't want it to be overshadowed.
The woods are now eerily quiet, with barely even any birds to break it should one decide to take a walk through the trees. Be wary, though, as the more violent denizens of the forests are less inclined towards sleeping the winter away than their friendlier counterparts. Falling prey to a spriggan isn't something that anyone would wish to do.
All in all, the year appears to be ending on a fairly quiet note. Our veterans, though, know better than to think this is going to last.

Current and Upcoming Events
With the Mouse King event wrapped up and the reason behind it finally (if unintentionally) revealed by three NPCs, the captives of Ruby City may well be put to wondering just what is in store for them next.
.. But telling you too much would spoil the surprise!
Suffice it to say that the mod team is very excited, and the first event of the new year will also herald the full introduction of a new, interactive system within the game which will allow the actions of the city's residents to shape its future. We hope you'll stay with us while we work out any problems and kinks that arise, and continue to give us the valuable feedback that we love so that we can go on making Ruby City an enjoyable experience for everyone playing in it.
Miscellaneous
We hope that you have all had a good Christmas, Hanukkah, Pancha Ganapati, Yule, Newtonmas, Hogswatch, and/or other festive season-oriented holiday this month! Please remember that this month's activity check, which will be put up as usual on the fifth of January, will be check in only! However, if you have double activity owed from the November-December period, feel free to turn it in to have it checked off your record.
Thank you from the whole mod team for sticking with us through our transition period as we put all our effort into making this the game that you all deserve! Please remember that any problems or suggestions can be addressed to us (in fact, we welcome them!) and if there is something you want to do or a personal plot you want help with running, we're more than willing to lend you any assistance that you need.
Much love from the mod team <3 Stay awesome!
