RUMOR WAR EVENT
The Wallmaker's Puzzle - FAQ
The Wallmaker's Puzzle - FAQ
As with every Rumor War event, when we get questions from many people, we like to bring attention to the answers just in case anyone's missed them. We'll also be explaining the puzzles you'll be challenging, and giving you some more information.
If we're entering the game in the next cycle, or apping in someone during the cycle just prior to the event, can that character participate in plotting/the event?
Originally, the answer to this was a bit unclear. However, after some deliberation, we have decided that anyone with an app in queue for review for the cycle just prior to the event may participate in plotting in events. We will be making a sub thread available for those people, so that they may make their presence known for plotting. Players, please note; people with their applications in queue are still subject to revisions and rejections, so keep this in mind when plotting with those awaiting app decisions.
What's with the Genre change?
Admittedly, no one has asked this. However, we'd like to let you know that we are trying a cycle of horror - gen/puzzle - comedy for the rumor war events. This process is still trial and error and may mean that not every rumor war event is to everyone's liking. We appreciate your patience with us, however, and ask that you understand we will make sure there will always be opportunities for players to make AC requirements, even without event participation.
Someone else chose [fairy tale] before me. Are duplicates allowed?
Absolutely. As everyone will be mixing their character with the fairy tale, and as everyone is at liberty to interpret the fairy tale as they please, everyone will be doing it differently, even if there are duplicates. Don't worry!
My character is already a fairy tale character. Do I have to choose the same fairy tale?
No! Definitely not. In fact, as the nature of the event is supposed to be a curse, we'd even prefer you find a different fairy tale, or different interpretation of their fairy tale. Otherwise, they're just going to end up with a boring old same-self doll at the end of th event, and that's not as fun, right?
Speaking of those dolls, what's with the rewards?
The rewards will be explained at the event's closing, and will be given out by Ikaros. We hear Ikaros is also planning on hosting a special mini 'event' after the Rumor War's end...
Oh, is this a convenient point to advertise stage-hand apps?
Oh!! Wow, would you look at that?? It looks like we've accidentally slipped in a link to stagehand apps! How did that get there? Back to regularly scheduled programming.
Can I choose a vague fairy tale role, like 'princess' or 'hero'?
No. You should be modelling your character after something specific, and something that isn't themself-- it's a 'curse', after all. (Whether they enjoy being something different is up to you!) You can be something like 'the princess from the frog prince' or 'the hero from the legend of the labyrinth from the video game 'tales of something or other'', et cetera.
Can my character die during this event?
Not really. Prudence will be giving them extra chances if they 'die' during puzzles, so that shouldn't be an issue. However, she's not particularly patient, and if they die doing stupid things on their own, she won't take pity on them.
My character can fight in their normal state. Can they still fight as a fairy tale? / My character is normally older/younger than their fairy tale, will they change age?
These things are all up to the player, and we don't particularly care, as long as you're having fun.
My character is usually a fairy tale. If I don't give them a curse, can they still help solve puzzles?
Nope. Prudence won't let them. Like the other uncursed characters, though, they'll be able to help from the sidelines.
Now that that's over, let's talk about how to solve the puzzles!
Are you familiar with the code-breaking game, Mastermind? Our puzzles will be similar!
Prudence will give you a riddle with some clues, and each puzzle will have a code. Each code will be made up of a set of abilities (such as "climb, charm, luck," or "jump, speed, luck, wit") that are necessary to retrieve the puzzle piece.
You'll be able to submit teams of 3-4 (depending on the required number of abilities) and Prudence will respond with whether or not your team got any of the abilities correct. Take the following scenario:
Prudence gives you a riddle.
You assemble a team of Conrad (ability: wit), Chibichibi (ability: Magic), Kirei (ability: charm), and Daenerys (ability: big).
Prudence, knowing that the answer is Magic, Big, Jump, and Fight, will tell you two of those abilities are correct, and those two are Magic and Big.
You can then guess more combos!
Only one ability can be submitted by each character per attempt, and each character has the chance to get it wrong three times a day (per puzzle). So, according to the previous scenario: since Daenerys and Chibichibi have the correct abilities, they can keep using those abilities as many times as they want as answers to that puzzle. However, Conrad and Kirei have only two more chances each to try out their other abilities on that puzzle.
If you have any questions about how to guess at the puzzles, let us know below! We will also be posting an example below.
