I don't really have a fitting picture for this.

G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.


Directions:

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

  1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

  2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

  3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

  4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

  5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

  6. The Coffee Joint: Run by James Potter and Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

  7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.


Scenarios

  1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

Not far. [ He looks displeased about it. ] I only got here today. I. Well. For a bit I thought it wasn't actually happening- I know people who can make you think things that aren't real or...make you experience fake fears and other similar things.

But you can't fake sensations. And that cigarette felt very real.

[Actually, if one took only time into account, she was only seven years old. But thanks to magic, not only had she grown up super-quickly, but she had been summoned back as a Servant ages after her original death.]

Ah, that's a bunch of science shit. Don't worry about it, it's not relevant. Scientists like to give simple things complicated terms just to fuck with the rest of us.

The American Constitution then. [ Jason leans back in his chair and rests his foot against his knee as he tries to think of how to explain this. It wasn't like he'd finished school, so he may not be the best source. But he did read, so he'd just- do his best. ]

"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." [ Jason was surprised he could remember that, actually. All those tutoring sessions with Babs worked out. ]

It was basically a set of guidelines for the nation, telling future generations what was going to fly and what wasn't. Our democracy was a whole new beast, it was't very popular at the time. We had to set our own rules, there wasn't much to reference. It covered the right to bear arms, freedom of religion and expression, the powers of the different governmental branches- it's a long document.

Essentially, it's...basically around to protect the People, the average citizens. The US was built on the backs of average men and they wanted to give those men the rights they felt they were owed.

[ As long as they were white and owned land, anyway. But that was a whole other can of worms and he'd already gone way off track. ]

Too bad the king was the one doing the oppressing. King George wasn't doing a whole lot for the American people. Just taxing us and screwing us out of our livelihood.

Kings aren't chosen; kings are made. [ Jason rubbed his chin, still leaning back in his chair. ] And America- well. We weren't really making kings. So we elected a president. A people who chose to revolt also chose their leader, and continue to choose today. It makes sense to me.
