RC Test Drive!

I don't really have a fitting picture for this.

G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations:

  1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

  2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

  3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

  4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

  5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

  6. The Coffee Joint: Run by Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

  7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

  1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

  2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.

  3. Inclement weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

  4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!

Have fun, guys!

Cosette Fauchelevent | Les Miserables

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-19 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[If Cosette had grown up any other way, the unfamiliar walls of the Cathedral and the city outside it might have seemed foreboding, even threatening. But much like any of her other homes over the years, she hadn't chosen Ruby City; she was simply whisked away, left to find a niche in her new home and new life until the next time. In this way moving frequently as a child had had its perks: one learned to adapt quickly.

Still, she couldn't abide all the rain. It made her think of Papa, of the move to England, of Marius. Feeling caged, she stepped towards the large doorway, fiddling with her unfamiliar weight of the watch around her wrist as she watched the rain pelt the street outside.]

[Eponine had once taken comfort in the rain. She loved the feel of it on her skin, washing away the dirt that stained her face. But since her death, since she'd come here, the rain brought her back to Marius' arms, to the feeling of blood leaving her body withe very drop of rain that fell, clouding her vision.

She'd been out, walking about the town aimlessly as she always did. Enjolras was currently taking up most of the house she shared with him and some of the others that had fallen at the barricade, and she wanted nothing to do with the blond. He was still no better than a murderer in her eyes.

But when the rain started, Eponine wasted no time in diving for shelter, this time in the large cathedral. She practically threw herself in from the storm, already soaked from the ferocity of it all. Her clothing, at least, now, was far better than what she had arrived in. And far less blood-stained.]
I always feel as if I shall burst into flame when I cross this threshold, [She said out loud to no one in particular. But a movement caught her attention out of the corner of her eye and she turned.

No. No, no, it had to-- She paled. She was here, too. Even after death, she could not escape the lark of Montfermiel and all that she brought with her.]
littlelark: (Shocked)

I'm trying to voice test for her so I apologize in advance;;

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-20 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Cosette's head snapped towards the direction of the voice, now echoing through the curved stone archways. Cautiously she stepped toward the soaked figure, almost in disbelief.]

Eponine...? Is that really you?
jondrette: (skeptic)

Don't worry about it!

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-07-20 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cosette had seen her. Cosette was walking towards her. And worse, she knew it was her. There was no getting out of this situation, unfortunately, and she knew it. Besides, perhaps Cosette could answer some of her questions she had, about what happened after her death.

If Marius survived. Or if he died alongside her.

She wasn't sure which one she would prefer anymore.]

You sound surprised. You should know by now I find a way to be anywhere you go. A ghost from your past that haunts only you. [She crosses towards her.]
littlelark: (Hurt)

ps my canon point is the first night of the barricade when valjean tries to take her away

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-20 06:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cosette stiffened slightly, her arm crossing over to grasp her other protectively. While she didn't expect a warm reunion, Eponine's words frightened her.]

What do you mean? I haven't seen you since we were children. I almost did not recognize you at first...

[She paused slightly, as if fully trying to process it all.]

How are you even here? Where is this place?
jondrette: (crying)

Gotcha! <3 thanks darling.

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-07-20 06:52 pm (UTC)(link)
You haven't seen me. [She tells her, her voice bitter. It was a far cry from the happy child that Cosette had known. The happy, if not cruel, girl in Montfermiel. She had been replaced by an unstable, angry young woman.] I wouldn't have expected you to. Our places have changed, and now I'm the waif that hides from the wrath of those around her.

[She laughs darkly. Poverty, abuse, liquor, all of it has gone to her head, and she suspects she will never recover.]

They call it Ruby City, but I am sure it is purgatory, though Gabriel tells me it is not. I am here because I died in your beloved's arms.
littlelark: (Shocked)

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-20 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cosette's eyes widened as she took a step back from the self-professed dead woman, her head spinning. She didn't even know where to begin; a girl from long ago, now dead, was standing before her, professing this unknown place in which she found herself to be the afterlife. She clutched her forehead, trying to begin to process it.]

Eponine, I... I am so sorry. Why were you there at the barricade? Have I also died?

[Her lungs felt slightly constricted; it ached to breathe.]

You say you died with Marius. What of him?
jondrette: (dangerous)

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-07-20 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
[Why was she there? A version of the truth was the best, as it always was.] I went to give your letter to Marius. [More or less.]

Perhaps you are, I can't profess to know. Some of those I've met here are not. Gabriel assures me this is in no way holy, but I don't know how much to trust him. As for Marius...

[The idea came to her before she even had to think about it. She lead Marius to the barricade to have him killed. As far as Cosette knew... She shakes her head sadly.] All who fought for the people were killed. No one was spared. Not even little Gavroche-- do you remember him? [Gavroche had been no more than three when Cosette had left.]
littlelark: (Hurt)

why do I only have two sad icons it's les mis...

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-21 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cosette's expression went blank, her eyes cast downward as she walked over to the edges of the pew, grasping the wooden back. Slowly she sat, her eyes still distant as they welled with tears. Eponine, dead now from her own selfishness. Little Gavroche, who she could barely remember they were so young, now dead as well. And Marius... She bent forward, her hands clasped as if in prayer while tears rolled softly down her cheeks.]

Eponine, I cannot convey how sorry I am that you died for such a...a naive gesture on my part. I do not know how I could ever hope to ask your forgiveness. [She heaved a sigh, the tears continuing to fall.]
jondrette: (skeptic)

Because the sad parts rip out your soul. also sorry for her crazy

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-07-21 05:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eponine keeps the smile from playing on her lips as she watches Cosette cry. They'd been in this position before, now, and it was far more familiar to her. Within that, was a safety. Comfort.

Truthfully, it was Eponine's own selfishness that had brought on her death. Gavroche's death, from what she had heard, had been his selflessness. And Marius... No one from the barricade knew.

Slowly, she moved over to Cosette, taking a seat next to her, a hand resting gingerly on her back.]
Hush, Cosette. I did all I could to keep him alive for you. The bullet I took was meant for him. I died so that he may go and find you. [The lies are easy, and if it causes Cosette guilt... Good. Eponine has no problems with such a thing.

But as for forgiveness... Well, they'd cross that bridge later. If Cosette had never arrived in Paris, perhaps none of this would have happened. She had a lot to make up for. As did Eponine, but who was counting?]
littlelark: (Shocked)

hush the crazy is the best part

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-21 05:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[Cosette turned toward Eponine's touch, sniffling as she unsuccessfully tried to stop her tears.] Oh god, Eponine, but how will I ever repay you for your sacrifice? I don't even know where to begin...

[What's worse, Eponine's sacrifice, for all they both knew, was completely in vain. Whether this was truly Purgatory or not, Marius was apparently nowhere to be found. Cosette's body lurched as a new wave of tears overcame her.]
jondrette: (I can't believe this)

Truth!

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-07-21 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Hush, Cosette. Now is not the time for that. Grieve. There's been so much loss in your young life. [but I've had more she added silently.] We will talk of sacrifice later. [She'd repay her a thousand times over. Cosetted Cosette who had taken everything from her. Her family blamed the lark for their losses, and Eponine was no exception.]

Shhhh.... [She took Cosette into her arms, gently stroking her hair the way she wished so often others had done for her.] Mourn for him. For me. He loved you. I know this better than anyone else. [Bitterness crept into her tone but she covered it as best she could.] Just cry. [Absentmindedly, she began humming.]
littlelark: (Hurt)

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-21 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[Prompted by Eponine's comforting words, Cosette broke out into full blown tears, burying her face into her shoulder.]

What can I do...? What am I going to do... [Marius was dead, Papa was nowhere to be found. She was alone, and all she had now was Eponine. Eponine, who had no reason to care for her after her untimely death, who was now comforting her. She only clung more tightly.]
jondrette: (Default)

[personal profile] jondrette 2013-07-21 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Eponine fell silent, save for the hums as she let Cosette cry. How the tables had truly turned again. Everything back as it should have been. Why would she wish to change it? She feigned thinking, stroking the girl's back and holding her to her modest bosom.]

There are places here. There's no need for money, clothing is easy to come by. It will not be so hard. I am used to such a life, but as are the men I stay with. If they make do I'm sure you can as well. You've survived great hardship before.

[She fingered a lock of Cosette's hair and idly wondered what the girl would look like without it.]
pessimiste: (вσттℓєѕ вяєαкιηg)

weeps. someone in this fandom who isn't dead?

[personal profile] pessimiste 2013-07-19 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
[ Though not one for cathedrals, Grantaire was even less so one for being outside in a storm. Shaking his dripping curls, he stumbled into the stately building with his heavy footfalls. With a swallow he gazed into the interior, murmuring briefly that he knew he did not belong in here. He would beg forgiveness if there were anyone to beg to.

Turning, he saw the blond haired woman and was struck momentarily with a similar one as when he first saw Eponine. He had seen this girl before. Even briefly. Perhaps in a carriage passing by or on the arm of one of the gentlemen of Paris but--

He was staring. And that should cease. No need to startle her. Though having not seen her before makes him wonder if she is new to this place... And would the city really bring in yet another unfortunate denizen of their world? Well, perhaps he may be able to find out without being incredibly obvious. ]

Hmm. Wonderful weather we're having, isn't it, mad'moiselle? [ Smooooth. ]
littlelark: (Come On)

It's a short list.

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-20 11:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Though momentarily taken aback by the sudden company, Cosette smiled, taking in the man's sopping appearance.]

A little more wet than I would like, though looking at you I feel as if I cannot complain.

I'd have to agree, I'd prefer if it was drier. I will stand over here to avoid splashing onto your lovely dress.

[ Brushing some more water off of him and dripping steadily onto the marble floor. ]

I cannot help but ask, forgive me if it is rude [ See? he could have manners. When he wanted to. Also forget the subtlety thing it's not his style. ] but, are you from Paris? I feel as though I may have seen your face before, and in a place such as this... It's a bit comforting to find people from your home.

[ She isn't Courfeyrac or Marius, but she is quite lovely anyway... ]

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-21 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[She laughed a little, watching the drenched man saunter in like a dog from the rain. She half expected him to shake his wet, unruly black curls dry.] I assure you, it's no trouble. My dress has dealt with far worse in its travels.

[She perked up at the mention of home, smiling sweetly.] Oh no, any mention of Paris is a relief. I do agree, it's quite comforting to find someone from home in this strange place...I take it you lived in Paris as well, monsieur?
pessimiste: (уσυ кησω ι dση'т ηєєd ѕℓєєρ)

NICOLE. NIKKI. NIKKI UR A BUTT.

[personal profile] pessimiste 2013-07-21 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[ No, no, he's good. He shook his hair right before entering. ]

Indeed, I did. [ Before he died of course. ] My name is Grantaire.

And yours, mad'moiselle?
littlelark: (Understanding)

i didn't want to say anything just in case;;;

[personal profile] littlelark 2013-07-21 05:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Cosette Fauchelevent. [She bowed her head slightly, as if moving to curtsey.] A pleasure to meet you, Monsieur Grantaire. May I ask how you came from Paris to here of all places?
