RC Test Drive!

I don't really have a fitting picture for this.

G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations:

  1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

  2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

  3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

  4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

  5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

  6. The Coffee Joint: Run by Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

  7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

  1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

  2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.

  3. Inclement weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

  4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!

Have fun, guys!

[Trent gives an amused snort. He buries his hands in the pockets of his trousers and shrugs ever so slightly.]

Sorry, doll, that isn't about to happen. I've been told that isn't how this game is played. [He jerks his head, pointing at the cathedral's entrance.] Prayers might be your best bet if that's what you are hoping for.

[Oh, he knows he's being an ass and there's a tiny little part of him that is sorry but god damn it, being a model citizen is tiresome.]

[ She goes quiet for a long moment, going over his first words a couple of times. It's exactly what she has been hearing all day and she's still trying to make sense of it somehow, but at least she's beyond panicking. ]

I don't pray. [ Again, straight to the point. She glances at the structure, either way; the architecture fascinates her. After all, Irene is mostly used to seeing small homes, nothing quite like this. ] Does this mean I should adjust then? Is that what you've done?
speaking_in_tongues: (am I alright? no I can't say I am)

It's not a matter of choosing to adjust or not... Or would you say that a bird once caught and caged adjusts to life in a cage? [His lips twitch into another smirk, a self-depreciating one this time.] Adjusting... that assumes you have a choice. We are merely trapped animals. I would hope we are songbirds and not butterflies, at the very least.

You know what children do with captured butterflies, don't you?

[ So he's captive too; she suspected as much from his words but this gives her some confirmation at least.

She takes her time with her answers - it's not that she doesn't understand or anything, but she likes to give her words a good thought; after all, the wrong words could grant some Very Bad Results. Even so, it's noteworthy that she doesn't look scared by his words. Not to say she doesn't feel that way, deep down, but that's another story. ]

You would rather be on display? [ She hums. ] I'd prefer to find a way out. Every cage has one.
speaking_in_tongues: (sounds like a deal I was once offered)

Of course there is a way out. Just like there is always a bigger fish in the sea.

[He turns away from her slightly to properly size up the cathedral, but from the corner of his eyes Trent keeps watching Irene. You don't turn your back on a stranger, they might turn out hungry. Or merely bored.]

Everything comes at a price. I'm not certain if I'd want to trade with those who are more powerful than beings who can snatch me from one world and transport me to another.

[personal profile] bruxa 2013-07-14 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Great power could be waiting for you. [ That's a vague suggestion and Irene doesn't bother looking away from the Cathedral; she is amazed. A woman once told her about wonderful buildings, buildings standing tall in the middle of big cities and though her idea of such a thing was far different, she must wonder: are they like this?

She's torn, you see, between the conversation and her train of thought. But the cathedral, she figures it'll be here tomorrow; this person might not, so she turns back to him. ]

Then what do you intend to do?

[He grimaces.

What an unpleasant question to ask.]

To be perfectly frank with you? I don't know. [He pulls his hands out of the pockets of his pants and throws them into the air, a gesture meant to convey exasperation as much as nonchalance.] I have no plan, no set future, not even allies or enemies.

[Another grimace.] I reckon you could call it refreshing if you enjoy senseless optimism.

[personal profile] bruxa 2013-07-15 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I enjoy a free-form existence. Senseless optimism, not so much. [ She has plans, you know. Not big ones, not really, but she does. This sorcery is proving to be something of a setback.

She hums softly, pushing a few strands of hair behind her ear. ]

I propose we find a way out.
speaking_in_tongues: (nope it doesn't work that way)

[personal profile] speaking_in_tongues 2013-07-18 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
And how do you propose to go about finding that way out? Knocking on their door and asking nicely? [Never mind that it is what he had done, it had been worth a try. Still bitter it hadn't worked, to be honest. What kind of person can't be bribed? There is something very unnatural about people like that, their existence defies the laws of nature.]

I hate to break it to, you, doll, but we seem to be stuck. Might as well enjoy the free food and housing. [Yeah. Not. He grimaces.]
