Let's take this for a spin

G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations:

  1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

  2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

  3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

  4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

  5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

  6. The Coffee Joint: Run by Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

  7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

  1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

  2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.

  3. Inclement weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

  4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!

Have fun, guys!

HELLO

[The rain isn't like the rain in the Lady with the Umbrella's room. This is cold. It makes her wild blonde hair cling to her neck and shoulders--it's a new sensation but not quite a pleasant one. There's so much to explore, though... It's not like the rain is hurting her. It just feels weird.

Then she hears something. Someone. Her head turns and she pushes wet strands of hair out of her eyes. She blinks.]

Ib? [Her last memories... Mary had traded Ib's rose for Garry's. She played a game with the rose: "he loves me, he loves me not". Then she went to the painting to go to the real world and--

Well. There's no reason Ib wouldn't have showed up afterwards here. They were going to go out together, after all. After Garry was taken away.]

Ib! [She runs towards her. There's certainly a few negative feelings towards Ib but they were friends, right? Friends...they could forgive each other, right? After all, they made it. They escaped. They could play forever, together. She shuffles under the awning and gives a small frown.]

This is where you went? This place is so big!

[Ib steps back instinctively when Mary approaches her, holding the sketchbook tighter to her chest as if to use it as a shield; other than that, though, she's frozen in place.

Contrary to Mary's last memories, the last things Ib can recall is finding the painting girl's inner sanctum inside the Sketchbook -- how Mary had screamed and tried to kill her and Garry for discovering her secret -- and then the fire that burned her former friend to ashes. Much as Ib hoped against all hope that Mary found some kind of happy ending in being put to rest, she never thought she would see the blonde again, let alone that Mary could possibly be glad to see her after everything that happened. After all, Ib had killed her. Wouldn't Mary be angry? Wouldn't she want revenge?

...But the blonde doesn't seem angry at all. If anything, she just looks confused, and perhaps a bit amazed at the world that has opened around her. It's no wonder, of course, but Ib is only able to stare for a long moment, shoulders slowly relaxing before she can manage,]

Um, y-yes...

[Mary probably thinks this is outside the gallery -- which it is, technically speaking, but it's not the outside that Ib knew before -- the one that Mary was expecting. However, this isn't the best time to explain that; Mary's soaked, and probably cold. Maybe there will be something to help her dry off inside the art store.

Tentatively, Ib reaches for the other girl's hand, fingers wrapping slowly around Mary's palm to lead her through the open doorway as she recites her mother's wisdom:]

You shouldn't stay out in the rain.

Huh?

[Ib is pulling away from her. Why? Was it that she didn't want to play? Was it that she didn't like what happened to Garry? Mary did what she needed to keep them together. That was all. Nothing more or less.

They'd be able to play in this outside world without worry. She couldn't find any grown ups either so it wasn't like anyone would try to stop them or anything like that.]

The rain? [She doesn't pull her hand away. There's no reason to. If Ib hadn't gone for her hand Mary's sure she would have done it herself soon enough. So she just grips it tighter. She only moves a step.] Why can't we play out here?
