HOLY GRAIL GRAVEYARD

The post for everyone who is now out of the event to hang back, snark, and generally bs as we hit the final stride.

Decided to go after Tall, creepy, and silver headed. [Meaning Sephiroth.]

His sword had words with my chest, and my lance had words with his stomach.

[He crosses one arm over his chest as if to protect it from something that already happened.]

Same. Minus the lance.

[He looks at her with an almost skeptical frown.]

Didn't you get the memo to steer clear?

It was a bit more personal than just heeding memos. I needed to give him a message.

Mmh. Can't argue with that, I guess.

[He uncurls a little to lean back on his hands.]

Did he get it?

He damn well better.

I hope someone gets him.

If my people are on top of things, they should be dealing with him right about now.

Yeah?

Guess we'll find out when he shows up here.

[When he shows up. She likes his surety.]

Guess so.

[He sighs, resting his chin on the drawn-up bend of his tail where his knees should be.]

It's good to hear someone stuck it to him, at least.

That asshole had it coming, from what I heard about him. He just sealed his fate by hurting Tifa.

A friend?

[Her cheeks color.]

Something like that.

...Hah.

[He crosses his arms over his tail and tucks his head into his elbow so he can look at her, smiling wanly.]

Yeah, I wouldn't let him hurt my something like that, either.

[She clears her throat, trying to keep from pouting at her slip up.]

[His smile turns into something pained and rueful, and he obscures his face with one arm as he runs a hand back through his hair.]

I wish I'd--I wish there'd been more time for me to think of some other way.

[Her shoulders droop some as she chances to pat his shoulder.]

You and me both, kid. But at least we did something.

[His wings flutter when she touches him and he peeks at her from under his arm, startled. After a moment, he ducks down again and lets out a breath of a laugh.]

Yeah. Guess we did.

[She claps his back in a friendly fashion before leaning back against the wall, crossing her arms over her chest as well as her legs to relax. Her eyes close.]

Try not to worry so much, darlin'. You did the best you could, you kicked ass at it, and we'll be alive and kicking again soon. Just gotta wait it out, and cheer who we can, on.

Mmh.

[He nods and shrugs noncommittally, then looks up for a thoughtful moment.]

...Think there's enough people here to start a betting pool?

[She looks around, raising a brow in pure curiosity. Was there?]

Looks like it. [She looks back to him, a grin growing on her face.]

I like the way you think, kid.

My imaginary money's on rocks fall, everyone dies.

I'm actually bettin' on Madoka. Girl's got spunk.

Oh, hell yeah. But--[He shrugs.]--I don't want her to win. She deserves better than that.

Not that I want her to be splattered by rocks, either, but that'd be basically par for the course of this thing at this point.

I think the girl has what it takes to get rid of Tall, Femme, and Prissy over there, but to win...I don't trust the Grail.
