She- [ She broke off, and a low whine crawled up her throat. Her mouth clicked shut and she looked away. ]

That woman ripped me apart. P-Piece by fucking piece.

[ And then the person Labrys thought would save her became her executioner. ]

[Oh.

That actually sounds miles more horrific than what happened to him, and he can't help the way his feathers rise up and then shudder back down. It's hard to believe that could happen, especially to someone who kicked his ass so thoroughly.]

[He's not sure what to do--the impulse towards knightly solidarity clashes with OH NO GIRL CRYING HELP HELP MAYDAY CALL IN THE ROYAL GUARD--and in the end he just touches her shoulder briefly, something between a pat and a comforting grip.]

It doesn't, you know, change what happened, but I think we'll come back.

[ There's always someone bigger and better, Davesprite. Always. Labrys doesn't (can't) feel the pat, but the gesture is enough. She smiles, a more than a little watery. ]

Y-Yeah. It- it almost doesn't seem fair, you know? That we come back when others don't. What makes this city so special?

[He resettles his wings, then looks skyward.]

Though I guess I can't talk. My universe was more full of unbelievable resuscitations than a Bible pusher's backpack.

I know a guy comes back to life in it. Or maybe three guys?

Wait so, why do people 'push' it? Are they pushing it into something?

I don't understand, what is the point of pushing it? I mean. Wouldn't you rather read it?
