[ Trucy had made a trip to the library with a purpose. Without school here, while it's an interesting prospect, sort of like a never ending summer vacation from hell, she finds herself almost missing the life of a student.

She doesn't miss the piles of homework, of course; but she's been here long enough to know that even without school, she's going to need to at least study. Libraries were good for that purpose. Anything to keep her mind sharp, and besides, this made her mature.

Except by the time she'd gotten to the library, thoughts of studying had been completely derailed as her thoughts trailed to magic books, naturally. That's still studying, right?

She's just about to go head down one of the aisles to find at least one book about magic, when she notices the man. He's... why is he wearing chains? She gets a creepy vibe from him, that's for sure. This is the kind of person her dad has warned her about.

...Except this guy has a hawk. So that changes everything in her book.

"Er, e-excuse me," she calls out suddenly, pausing as she lowers her tone... library. She doesn't quite approach, because she's unsure, but she's at a distance where she can at least communicate with him at indoor-voice level. "Um, I don't think I've ever seen you before. Did you just arrive...?"

[dotard]

[ That's... hm, does this girl look familiar? Not really. Maybe a later canon point, but not this one. Still, it's not like Blackquill hates kids. In fact, he's quite good with them. Taka loves kids. ]

That's correct. I arrived a short while ago and found myself with a good many questions-- naturally, the library was my first destination in my quest to answering them.

[ Don't feel bad. This little lady isn't even from AA5 yet! When he speaks, the creepy vibes are pretty much gone, which is a blessing, really. Still, why is he in chains...? ]

I came here, too, when I first arrived... has anyone warned you about stuff yet? Er, or told you anything at all?

[ Deciding it's safe, she moves closer and takes a seat in the chair across from his own. If she can help clear stuff up for him, then that's good -- people had been kind enough to do it for her, so if she can pay it forward, that's a plus.

She finally peers up at the hawk on his shoulder and smiles again. ]

Your hawk is beautiful, by the way. I've never seen one up close before!

[ Why, Blackquill is the friendliest death row inmate you ever did see. He looks up from his book, smirking. ]

I've heard no word of warning, though such guidance would hardly undesirable.

[ Any admirer of Taka's is a friend of his, of course. Blackquill nods up at Taka, giving her permission to fly over and land on Trucy's hat. ]

Her name is Taka. I'm sure she is flattered to hear such fine words of praise from such a smart lass. If you'd like to have a closer look, you are free to.

[ Hey, man. So long as you don't tell her about that okay.

She beams at him again, because she's good at helping people. It's what she does. ]

Well, a lot of this is going to be hard to believe, but it's all true. There are monsters in this city, and vampires, too! I haven't been able to see any of the monsters close up, but I've had an... unfortunate run in with one of the vampires that didn't end so well. My advice to you is to stay away from them... there are two of them, though, that are super nice. Seras and Maurice... they'll help you if you ever run into the bad ones.

[ ...Well, Seras will. She's not so sure about Maurice, since he seems so quiet and timid, but you know. ]

On the plus side, everything here is free! Food, housing... you name it, it's free. This place has its ups and downs, just like everywhere, I guess.

[ She blinks and glances up when she feels the hawk land on her hat, and her smile widens. Blackquill, you have the coolest pet, hands down. ]

That's a really pretty name, too... Taka, I really like it! R-really? You wouldn't mind?

[ AWESOME. She carefully takes her hat off and settles it onto her lap so that she can have a nice, close look at Taka. Carefully as not to startle the poor bird, she reaches up to gentle pet her. ]

She's amazing... have you had her her whole life?

[ Kristoph wishes he were this cool. ]

Monsters and vampires and a city without debts... have I wandered into some manner of tale of yokai?

[ He sounds interested, though. He probably once met a guy in the clink who knew a guy who got possessed by a yokai... ]

Of course, Taka is extremely friendly. Her temperament is perfectly suited for even the most maddening situations.

[ Like the courtroom. Or prison. Taka is nothing if not well-behaved. ]

That's correct. Taka has been in my care since she was but a small hatchling.

There are a few people here with supernatural powers. It wouldn't be surprising if there were yokai here, too! I should probably mention that you can't die here, either. I mean, you can! But you just come back...

[ Because she's pretty sure there PROBABLY ARE after everything that's happened here thus far. When it comes to the dying thing, her voice gives away the fact that she's already been well acquainted with the fact that one returns to life. She has, after all, already experienced it herself.]

You've raised her well! She's an absolute sweetheart!

[ ...Well, to her she is, anyways. She hasn't seen her in action yet, but Trucy's okay with being blissfully unaware and giving Taka lots of pets and love. ]

Oh, sorry -- my name is Trucy, by the way. Trucy Wright.

Wright-dono's daughter, hm? I had heard he was the head of his own small clan. It seems he raised you better than those two lawyers he keeps under his wing. You must be a brave girl to be thriving in so harrowing a place.

[ **Translation pending.** Blackquill just talks funny, okay. That being said, his background in psychology catches every one of Trucy's cues, and while it worries him, he doesn't let that show. No time for children! He's a big scary criminal, after all. He'll reserve judgment on the monsters and the supernatural stuff, but Trucy clearly believes it, and who is he to ruin her fun? Now, if it were Apollo or something, there would definitely be some fun-ruining. ]

Taka is nothing if not well-behaved. She and I have fought side-by-side in many battles, both in and outside the courtroom.

[ Taka loves being spoiled by nice girls who aren't afraid of her. It's not often, mind you. ]

You know my daddy? I keep telling him he's super popular... he always gets a funny look when I say that, though. But wait... two lawyers? Polly is the only lawyer that works at the Agency! Here, it can be hard sometimes. Polly can be scary when he wants~

[ Poor Apollo. One more thing to rub in his face... ]

Oooh, that's so cool! I'll bet you two get all of the bad guys, right!? Hey, are you a lawyer, too, then?

[ don't mind Trucy as she just. Cuddles your badass hawk, okay? ]

[ He shakes his head, those chains rattling as he brings a finger to his temple. ]

Wright-dono employs one Apollo Justice as well as one Athena Cyckes. But I've seen the young Justice in action myself. Why, I once heard a witness call our Justice-dono a "Demon Lawyer," thanks to those two horns that rise out from his head.

[ That's his hair. It... It's his hair, Blackquill. He's officially playing all this for show. And laughing on the inside. Though he can't wait for the reaction this one'll get you, Trucy. ]

I am and always shall be a prosecutor.

Eh? I've never heard of-- hey, you must be from the future or something! That happens here! Cool!

[ It's good news. Two lawyers are better than one! She blinks at that last bit, though, before bursting out into laughter. ]

Demon lawyer-- that's hilarious! I'll have to remember that! Yeah, Polly always obsesses over his horns...

[ She's... calling his hair horns now, too. ]

Oooh, that's cool! Do you know Mr. Edgeworth and Mr. Gavin, then?

So I have heard. Your Wright-dono seems considerably more green than when we last spoke.

[ He smirks. Playing along with kids is actually sorta nice. Stop being cute, Trucy. ]

Of course. A demon is as nothing without his horns. Your "Polly" is a red demon, while your father is the blue demon. Together they make excellent foils, do they not?

[ He laughs. Yep, he laughs at his own joke, even with those chains a-rattling. ]

Indeed, I was familiar with both of them. Edgeworth-dono is somewhat of an acquaintance of mine. It is through his decree that I am yet wielding the blade of the law despite my circumstances.

Yeah... when I first arrived, I was kind of disappointed because he's from a time before I came around. Three months before he's supposed to meet me, to be exact.

[ Well, Simon, at least she's laughing at your jokes too. EVEN IF HER FATHER HAS JUST BEEN CALLED A BLUE DEMON it's hilarious.

Poor Phoenix. ALSO NO she refuses to stop. It's her job to be adorable okay. ]

They do!! Red and blue demons... this is too good! Although they aren't very intimidating demons. Especially Polly... he's just a loud demon, because he uses his demonic Chords of Steel every day!

[ Yes, the very same Chords of Steel that strike terror in the hearts of all bad guys and prosecutors. And by strike terror, we mean annoy. ]

I see! Ah... your circumstances? [ Right, this is probably important. She should pay close attention... probably. ] I'm gonna guess that's why you've got those chains, right? Speaking of which, I think I can get those off for you, if you'd like.

[ Because they're totally not there for a reason or anything! ]

That little witness seemed to find him quite terrifying. Bluffing and shouting are both demonic skills, so at least in that, the names suit their bearers.

[ Every lawyer is a demon. Every. One. ]

[ I'm laughing over everyone offering to take off Blackquill's shackles like, YOU GUYS. Then again, master manipulator?? ]

Yeah... it can get pretty annoying, too. People badger you over the future a lot. And then when you tell them the truth they get mad and stomp off and don't talk to you for months at a time.

Polly's voice can shatter your hearing, so I can see that! It's really terrible when you're trying to study for something, or get homework done... and he decides to start his Chords of Steel training.

[ She's realizing she probably shouldn't be telling Simon this crap. Oh well, too little too late, and besiiides... it's not like he's going to remember when they get home, right?

Sure, no problem. Ah, my way is a little unconventional so don't get upset, okay?

[ Because sir you are a Prosecutor. DO NOT PROSECUTE HER.

...Also, to be fair, this is Trucy. SHE'LL BELIEVE MOST ANYTHING.

She reaches forward and starts to work. After a few minutes of trying, there's the tell tale clink of locks opening, and he may find that the cuffs around his wrists feel awfully loose. ]

I have heard Justice-dono's chords many a time for myself. Suffice to say, the whole courthouse has heard him thus far.

[ Simon chuckles. Blackmail fodder for later, hmm? Yes, good. Still, he holds out his hands, watching Trucy work her magic. He won't judge you, Trucy. He's already a criminal, he's got no room to judge. ]

It is an important skill to have. I knew an man in the clink who could break out of his handcuffs with a sliver of his own hair.

I'm pretty sure the whole world has heard him. If there are real aliens out there in space, they've probably heard him, too.

[ Well, maybe that's extreme... but he is loud. Don't worry about blackmail stuff, Simon. She's got L O T S of ammo for you, dude.

BUT FIRST, CUFFS. She looks quite pleased with herself as she finally hears that final click and the cuffs fall loose onto the floor. Of course, hearing that part about the 'clink' should have told her that maybe letting him free of his chains was a bad idea.

BUT HE'S A PROSECUTOR so she'll not even think of such things! ]

R-really? Wow! That's amazing! I'll have to try that some time... maybe I can figure it out and use it in my act!

I admit his voice stayed with me for quite some time. Yes, the ringing in my ears lasted throughout our whole trial.

[ Haha! He likes you already, Trucy. Just keep feeding him Apollo stories. He'll recite them back with flourish, later. HAHAHA OF COURSE he's a prosecutor so of course he's okay, Trucy. You just trust Uncle Blackquill. He'll take you down the path of darkness truth. ]

Hmm, he would not reveal his secrets, so I'm afraid I cannot say. All part of being a magician, is it not?

[ YEAH. SHE WENT THERE. She went there, and she isn't sorry. Only because she's not seeing the problem with Apollo the panty tracker.

Still, she does look a little disappointed, briefly -- soon enough she's grinning and nodding. She knows well enough the 'code' that all magician's have. ]

Yeah! I'll bet I can figure it out on my own -- ooh, maybe I can handcuff Polly and daddy together and throw away the key and try it!
