NOV. TEST DRIVE

G'day, Ruby City!
Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations:
- Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.
- Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?
- The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!
- The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.
- The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.
- The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.
- Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.
Scenarios
- Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.
- Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.
- Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?
- Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!
Have fun, guys!

Fuck if I know. One day I'm dead, the next I'm waking up in a coffin.
[ He's still pretty fucked up about that, actually. ]

[ Dick has a strong urge to touch, for proof that this was real, confirmation that he hasn't simply gone crazy. But it's obvious contact is unwanted and he balls his hand into a fist, bringing it back to his own chest.
He doesn't know how to feel, and so he's basically just feeling everything at once. ]
Bruce broke down because of you, you know. We all did.
no subject
God, he'd probably kill someone. ]
Not enough to do the right thing! Not enough to get rid of that fucking trash.

[ Both of his hands are in fists now, at his sides. He can see the pain in Jason's body, and empathetically feels it in his own. It kind of pains him that a hug is not an option here; it's how he processes things and the only way he knows how to soothe others. They've both been through a lot and Dick only wishes he knew Jason's half. ]
Even now, he's not the same.
[ "And neither am I," he leaves out. ]

I'm saying that I should have been the last fucking person the Joker ever killed. If he cared, he should have killed that monster right where he fucking stood!
[ Jason doesn't realize until the sentence is over that his voice had gotten progressively louder. It feels like there's fire under his skin and a bomb ticking away in his brain, ready to explode. ]
no subject
He did care, Jason. He does care. You know as well as I do that if there's one rule he follows it's the no-kill rule. But I promise you, he almost did break that. . .
[ He sighs. ]
no subject
[ The statement is flat and dangerously emotionless. ]
He slit my fucking throat, Dick. He would rather murder me than murder him.
[ Granted, it didn't work. But it came very, very close. ]
no subject
[ He digs his nails into his fists and resists the urge to close the space between them again. He hates empty space and it makes him as mad as Jason's confused emotions. ]
Get a grip, Jason! You know damn well that's not how he operates. You can't honestly believe that, do you?
no subject
[ Jason pulls the collar of his shirt and jacket in one rough moment. ]
He fucking did that! Over the Joker!
no subject
[ Dick's eyes widen, now seeing the scar. He stares in silence for a moment before breaking eye contact and looking over his shoulder towards the city behind him. ]
I don't know if I can believe you. But then. . . I don't know what I can believe.
no subject
Is this what ghosts feel like?
In a quick movement he didn't know he was currently capable of, Jason throws the knife to land in the door. ]
Fuck you, Dick.
[ And then he walks to the door and starts heading down the stairs, one empty step at a time. ]

[ Part of him knows he's done damage and he should just let Jason go. But there's another part of him that won't let him leave. It's almost a fear of losing Jason all over again. Now that Jason's here in the flesh, Dick isn't about to let him just walk away. ]
Look, I didn't mean it like that. Can we just stop, please? I know I can be stupid sometimes, I know I don't know how to use my head and just think sometimes, but-
[ He's following Jason, reaching for his shoulder, ignoring personal space again just like always. And, fuck, it's almost like he's begging. Dick is definitely grasping at straws, that's for sure. ]
God fucking help me, Jason, what am I supposed to think? What am I supposed to do? It's like I've been turned over my head and rattled until all the change falls out of my pockets. Nothing is right.
[ Oh yeah, he's good at blabbing until the cows come home, too. ]
I just. . . I just don't understand anything anymore.
no subject
Yeah, I can't help you with that. After all, aren't I too busy telling lies about our illustrious and sin-free guardian to give you any kind of help or advice?
no subject
Please, don't. Don't mock me.
[ He hates himself for his pathetic display of emotions currently. ]
What's happened to you, Jason?
no subject
I don't want to talk about it.
[ It's alright, Dick. Jason hates himself too. (But that's more of an all the time thing.) ]
no subject
That's fine. . . but I can't - I won't let you just leave like this.
[ You mean something to him, Jay. Really. Emotions are hard. ]
no subject
Never stopped you before.
no subject
As usual, he has to grasp for small talk to fill in the silence between them. ]
You said you've been here for a while. What's it like?
no subject
[ He pushes his hands in his pockets. Jason will let the conversation veer for now. In all honesty, avoiding Dick is more of a pain in his ass than its really worth right now.
Also, he had responsibilities in the city. Ollying out to the woods would be a serious dick move. ]
no subject
[ It's horribly obvious Jason's not in the mood to talk. . . so he attempts to shut up. It doesn't work. ]
What happens when it's not?
no subject
[ Jason wasn't overly fond of excessive collateral damage. Made all the other shit seem pointless. ]
no subject
How? Is it really that bad?
no subject
Told you, I haven't been here that long. But apparently, shit hits the fan on the regular. [ His face hardens. ] There was a war, I guess. Pointless, honestly, the end game wasn't even real. A lot of people died. A couple kids, too.
[ Some girl he hadn't met (L-something? Labby?) and the orange boy, Davesprite. ]
no subject
[ His eyes fall to the ground. Hearing things like that is never easy. ]
What about you? Have you been okay?
[ Dick has to be sure. He cares too much. ]
no subject
[ Jason had seen their posts on the return. It was fucked up. ]
I haven't died if that's what you mean.
[ Not recently, anyway. ]
