DEC. TEST DRIVE

G'day, Ruby City!
Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations:
- Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.
- Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?
- The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!
- The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.
- The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.
- The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.
- Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.
Scenarios
- Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.
- Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.
- Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?
- Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!
Have fun, guys!
Captain Jack Harkness | Doctor Who/Torchwood | 1, 1
[Captain Jack Harkness is pretty sure that he sent that signal to get off Earth onto a spaceship, not a train. And now he finds himself here. No idea where he is, but it's not so bad. Any place is really as good as another at this point.]
[Except that this is all too deliberate, and this points to him being snagged out of mid-transport. He's missing his vortex manipulator, so whoever brought him here doesn't want him leaving.]
[Oh, and the pocket watch? Not. Funny.]
[Jack warily lingers around the station, reluctant to go wandering off without any answers.]
no subject
The face is familiar to the pop-culture connoisseur, but not so familiar that he places it immediately - so Jack isn't greeted by name, but rather by:]
You look 'bout as lost as anyone who comes popping off that train.
[Arms folded across his chest, the lanky man nods at the tracks from his position against one of the walls covered in posters.]
Don't overthink it and make yourself comfortable. You ain't goin' anywhere for awhile.
no subject
"Captain Jack Harkness." [Jack's eyes sweep over the posters and signs, but not for long enough to really catch any of the information for the new people.] "So where and when are we?"
no subject
Captain Harkness back from the dead again! [He then stops, hesitating as he pulls his hands back quickly.] Oh wait...right sorry. Were you supposed to know that? Did I miss anything? Ohhhh...[He inhales sharply, afraid that he may have given something away that he wasn't supposed to. Time is tricky, and he remembers seeing Jack from across a bar as his final farewell. Come to think of it, he was supposed to be regenerating right about now, but then again, it wasn't his first close call.]
no subject
"Doctor. Space-time fuckery, should've known you were involved with this." [A very tense, annoyed look, in fact, Jack's whole body is held tense, like he can't decide whether to hug or punch the Doctor, and has to hold himself back from both actions.]
"No, no, I'm time-forward of that point, it's fine. Way time-forward of that. But what's the last thing you remember?" [They do have to do the Paradox Check. Answer carefully, Doc. What you say may determine which reaction you get out of Jack.]
no subject
Mmmm-do you happen to remember a man named Allonso?
no subject
"You might be forward of me, then. Last time I saw you was the twenty-seven planets."
[You know...because you didn't show up when we needed you to.]
no subject
...Right.
no subject
"So where are we? And when?"
[Because this whole situation is far too convenient. Pull Jack out of his timestream, and the Doctor, excuse me, the right Doctor happens to be here? Something's going on. And, well, if the Doctor got yanked out of time, can Jack really blame him for not being where and when Jack wanted him to be?]

[The Doctor is on one of his usual rounds, taking a good look at the city he has gotten used to, in case someone might need help or something interesting happens. Passing by the station, he sees a figure, standing there, seemingly waiting for something or someone? He can't quite tell. But the closer he gets he notices things about that distant figure, that coat, that- No, it can't be.
He keeps on walking towards the man, not able to keep his face from twitching into a grin.]
Hello.
no subject
"Hi, there. Captain Jack Harkness." [Jack extends his hand, as if meeting a stranger. There's still that sense of wrongness about Jack, the Doctor can feel it, so it's obvious that they've already traveled together. But the trademark flirty grin doesn't come to Jack's face. He's being cautious, instead.]

[Jack's reaction truly takes the Doctor aback. This somehow is starting to feel funny. His face falls, the grin vanishing just like he has been smacked, when he shakes the other man's hand.
Whatever happened to Jack it has not been good. Not good at all. The worst thing about it is, that the Doctor has no idea what it could be. He hasn't seen Jack in forever, not since he said goodbye to everyone he cared about just before his last regeneration.
He notices that he is still shaking the other's hand, his mouth hanging open, after a very long moment. Reluctantly, he let's go, suddenly looking ancient.]
... I wasn't there. [It's not a question.] Something horrible happened and ... I wasn't there.
no subject
"I...are you all right?" [Looks around to see if there's anybody else, someone chasing after this guy, maybe?] "Look, I don't know how I got here, I'm just trying to figure out where and when this is?"
[Jack doesn't have a clue. The setting is weird enough that the Doctor actually looks like he fits in, for once, so the normal alarm bells aren't getting set off. The possibility that he's talking to a time-discontinuous version of the Doctor is the furthest thing from his mind.]

Hello! You new?
no subject
"Apparently. You get a lot of people through that train, then?"
no subject
[She approaches him, her movements making her look like the relaxed soldier that she was.]
no subject
"Everyone, hunh?" [When she gets in range, Jack extends a hand.] "Captain Jack Harkness. If everyone here came by the train, who was here first, then?"
no subject
[She takes his hand with a grin.]
Pleasure to meet you, Jack! I'm Jenny!

"I guess, I should back up a step, then. Where and when is 'here'? Normally, I'd have a way of finding out, myself, but not all of my stuff made the trip with me."

If she was lucky, it was something exciting and interesting.
By the looks of it, she was right. The Archeologist leans against the entry way, idly swinging her own pocket watch as she watches the newcomer.]
Welcome to the City, You may as well wander away from the station, it can get rather boring here and there is much more to see than just this.
Permission to flirt?
"The City, hunh? You guys are real creative with your naming around here. Captain Jack Harkness." [And who are you?]
"This is going to sound like a weird question, but where and when are we?"
Always. Expect some flirting back.
[His smile is answered with a flirty one of her own. Oh she's going to like you. Probably more than she should.]
I didn't name this place. It came with it though, I do think it's fitting. We're trapped here like a gem in a setting for all intents and purposes.
[She stops swinging the watch and slips it into her pocket.]
The question really isn't that weird once you think about it, it's one I've had to ask myself on a few occasions. But, this time there really isn't an answer. The architecture says Victorian Era, Earth. But the watches say otherwise on a technological level.
My best guess is a pocket universe somewhere. So until we can figure a way out, I'd suggest relaxing and enjoying yourself Captain.

Or at least, that's his intent until his feet start taking him back toward the train station. Seems there's something... interesting over there, and that's as good a place to start as any.]
I'm going to guess you've only just arrived too?
MCGANN! <3
"Yeah. Captain Jack Harkness. Where have, well, where have we just arrived?"
Indeed!
I'm not quite sure yet. It's certainly not anywhere I've been before - I'd remember a place like this, I'm sure of it.
