DEC. TEST DRIVE

It's that time again!

G'day, Ruby City!

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations:

  1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.

  2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

  3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

  4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

  5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

  6. The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

  7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

  1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.

  2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.

  3. Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

  4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!

Have fun, guys!

[ So it's raining outside. And her shirt is white. You know what that means? Fanservice!

Actually, no. Thankfully Saeko has enough grace to step inside before it completely soaks through, although now she's cold. She steps into the cafe shivering and with her arms wrapped around her. Water drips off her tattered skirt and the end of her katana. She might look formidable... until she suddenly sneezes gently, whispering a polite pardon to no one in particular. No, she doesn't seem on edge at all for being in a completely new place.

She can use some hot tea. The question is if they even have green tea in a European cafe. Like hell would she drink anything else. ]

[Trains were something of a terrible omen for the historian. Her brief experiences on the water-treading locomotive back in her world had been anything but enjoyable. As she awoke in the lavish train car, she could not help but feel as if she'd been taken back a few months in time. Eyes go wide with dread, wondering if she'd been dreaming the weeks away, only to be snapped back to the reality that she was soon to be taken through the Gate of Justice.

Yet, the location doesn't seem to have the same vibrant appearance. Rain doesn't patter against the windows, winds do not howl against the separation doors, and the black-suit clad guards do not block the entryways into the car. This is not the Sea Train she had rode so long ago. The sound of iron and steel grinding together to cease the motion of the vehicle rings aloud, still not enough to phase the uncommonly cool and composed Piratess.

Rising to her heels, she looks to the other side of the car and peers out into the unfamiliar city. She hurried to the door, opening the sliding entryway to the side and stepping out into the unfamiliar landscape.

If there is anyone in the vicinity of the Train Station, they will see the slender woman clad in black leather, looking about with a mixture of amusement and confusion at her present location.]

[The raven-haired woman had been sitting at a far table for some time now, mulling over a recently discovered book from the library. It offered little information, but one could not enjoy a cup of tea without some sort of reading material.

She looks up for but a moment, noting the younger woman's entrance before she lifts up the small tea cup from her table. The familiar scent of mikan and Darjeeling mixed with a spoon full of tea filled her nostrils as she took a silent sip of the warm beverage.]

Nasty weather out there. You look as if you could use a warm fire rather than a cup of tea.

[ Don't mind the pale woman sitting here. She's just alone at a corner table with a deck of tarot cards arranged in front of her. For each person who comes into the cafe, she'll tap on one card thoughtfully before withdrawing her hand to daintily pick up that tea cup for a sip.

To those who might have a preternatural sense of others: she isn't human. She isn't any sort of demon. She isn't. Really much of anything in particular save for a calm presence and a gently amused smile. ]

[Cathedral, Clocktower, or any other rooftop]

[He didn't know what to make of the train when he found himself on it. It looks like something the dwarves would have made, or at least some new invention of Cid's. He still had his armor and his spear though, as well as this strange device. He flips the watch around in his hand, not realizing it turned on and flashed an image of his draconic helmet across the network.

Once the train stopped Kain did what came by instinct: get as high as possible and survey the area. He scaled the nearest building with ease, leaping from rooftop to rooftop. The cathedral and the clocktower looked like the two best vantage points, best try them both.]

[How interesting she thought as she strutted through the townsquare. One moment she was at the bottom of the ocean and the next she was obviously not. Even with her powers of omnipresence and tears she was very confused as to how this happened.

Her eyes peered up at the clock tower. That would be a fine vantage point.]

[personal profile] purrfectpouncellor 2013-12-02 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
[Nepeta was never one to miss some sightseeing, even in a strange place such as this. After all, she hadn't been around for longer than a day, but she hadn't used the watch she got either. It was simpler to just go sniff around and see who she could find. So she snuck around on all fours trying to be sneaky sneaky, even if it was completely obvious where she was.

If she saw one of her friends, they'd be getting an immediate pounce, no matter who they were, as long as they were from her session. Otherwise, some people might be getting curious glances from her. She'll greet them with a little grin though!

To anyone who didn't know her though.... did that grey-skinned girl have horns... and a tail??]

[It hasn't exactly been all day but it feels like it and she's only here by accident (and sore feet) drumming her fingers and ignoring the meal she ordered, hungry but too distracted to really make an effort to eat.

Maybe a bar was a bad choice, too like home and where she was before she found herself pulling into a station. But she's got alcohol and perhaps it's not the wisest idea to drink in an unfamiliar place but she's rather limited for options and the thought of stopping in at a cafe to just sit and drink tea and stare into space makes her skin crawl.

She probably looks out of place here - high heels (and one leg is bouncing, betraying her anxiety), dress that's just a little too fancy, thick black eyeliner and bright red lips - but it's more likely the way she's glaring at her drink like it's done something to offend her that's been keeping anyone from joining her. Which is a shame, she'd be glad of the company, even just mindless chatter to take her mind off this for five minutes.

Ruler (Jeanne d'Arc) - Fate/Apocrypha

[personal profile] maidofheaven 2013-12-02 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
1. Train Station

[Ruler mutters and rubs at her eyes when she hears the train's whistle.]

Sir, are we at Trifas now?

[Her mind fogged by sleep, Ruler doesn't notice the difference in her surroundings until she steps off the vehicle. Only then does a feeling of unease arise in her stomach. She snaps out of her haze just to see the train drive off.]

No!

[She's not familiar with this style of train, but her instincts tell her that letting it drive away would seriously hamper her mission. She leaps after it...and ends up faceplanting onto the tracks instead.]

Ow...

[She mutters and rubs at her face, then climbs back up the platform. She still has the tiniest sliver of hope that this unfamiliar city might be Trifas, but seeing as how she could not feel the Grail and her transport vehicle had changed, it wasn't likely.]

2. The Library

[In her first life, Ruler had been illiterate. Now, sharing Laeticia's body and memories, she shares the other girl's skills as well, including her reading ability.]

[She's currently sitting at a table flipping though a picture book, as it's one of the few books whose content doesn't make her head spin. (Really, modern day students were expected to learn all that?)]

[The season made it easy to want some good tea so going to get tea was a natural choice to do. What Yosuke didn't expect was to see an amazingly gorgeous woman there, and... wait, was she holding tarot cards? That was unusual.]

Are you doing fortune telling?

*Know your enemy--that's a basic tenet of warfare, and right now, Parasoul considers this whole city her enemy. After all, she's been spirited away to this place without so much as a by-your-leave; surely, the motives driving whoever or whatever brought her here must be nefarious, or at the very least criminally disrespectful.*

*Thus, it seems logical to find a ready source of information: the city library. Alas, Parasoul quickly learns that Ruby City isn't exactly forthcoming with its secrets. She's been here for hours, pouring through book after book, but somehow none of them really say anything of use about the city. Between her palpable frustration--she's glaring at the latest unhelpful tome so hard one might not be surprised to see the pages ignite--and the large, oddly-adorned black umbrella propped up in easy reach against her chair, she cuts a fairly eye-catching figure.*

[What? He's a busy time traveling alien. Lots of places to do, things to see, and not nearly enough hours in the day to do them all. Being fair, he's not in all the places at once. That'd be a really difficult trick to pull off, even with the aforementioned time travel.

Mostly he's in the library, because knowledge is power and you can't go wrong trying to find out the interesting bits nobody wants you to find (a bit familiar, that). Sometimes he's over at the cafe, because a good cuppa never did anyone any harm, least of all him. And, also being fair, it's nice to get a little time to himself to stop and rest.

Of course, the best way to find things out, besides getting hopelessly lost, is to ask someone. Many someones, actually. Which is just what he intends to do.]

Excuse me, have you seen something that would probably look like a blue police box to you?

[He's already out a screwdriver. To lose The Old Girl on top of that would be a real shame.]

[He certainly isn't one of her friends, but he doesn't look like a complete stranger either.

Signless for his part, has not noticed her yet. Perhaps it is simply due to her superior hunting skills. Or maybe just the fact that he is quite absorbed in studying the Cathedral. Back home, religion is the domain of highbloods. It has been said that lowbloods have superstitions, but Highbloods have scripture. Regardless, it was never a topic he had managed to learn much about. Rosa had given him the basics when he grew up, of course, but he had never been able to really sit down with a religious highblood and talk about it. And maybe it is because of that that he is so intrigued by these human displays of belief.

Either way, it leads to him being far too involved to notice getting talked by a little oliveblooded girl. The hood of his cloak has been left down, allowing the breeze to run through his hair and along his short horns.]

[Wow, that does look high up. Hope you don't mind a man wearing an Edwardian cricketing outfit with a piece of celery stuck to the lapel popping over. Odd, that, but never mind, there's a tower to climb. Much more important!]

Perhaps there are some sort of footholds....

[Oh, right, he did just interrupt, might as well say hello.]

Ah, hello.

[There. Well done. He'll even tip his hat a bit. It's one of those introductiony things people do that you've just gotta accept.]

[Celty had come into the cafe to peoplewatch, so she certainly wasn't going to call out anyone else on what they were doing. Her helmet tilts slightly as she observes the spread of the cards before moving to a table further in the back.

She does sense that there's something off about this woman, though her senses are not quite precise enough to nail anything down. Then again, it's not like Margaret is the first nonhuman she's met in town. Nothing to raise a fuss over.]

[Rose had stopped into the cafe for tea herself, just a quick warm pick-me-up before she finds a shop that had comfortable jackets for the winter. And this place had some good tea, she doesn't want to pass up the chance for some on her way.

She's just fixing her cup when he asks his question and turns to him, looking surprise. A blue police box? Really?]

Uh, yeah. In the park, if I remember right. [Unless the Doctor moved it.] Don't hear anybody lookin' for a police box very often.

Maybe it's best not to answer that.

He does look a little bit relieved to hear that, though.]

Such a shame. They used to be so common, you know.

[Oh, right, manners.]

Oh, but thank you. Now, what do you think's the best way to the park from here?

[Train Station]

[Captain Jack Harkness is pretty sure that he sent that signal to get off Earth onto a spaceship, not a train. And now he finds himself here. No idea where he is, but it's not so bad. Any place is really as good as another at this point.]

[Except that this is all too deliberate, and this points to him being snagged out of mid-transport. He's missing his vortex manipulator, so whoever brought him here doesn't want him leaving.]

[Oh, and the pocket watch? Not. Funny.]

[Jack warily lingers around the station, reluctant to go wandering off without any answers.]

[The watches switch on to the sound of a whirring. A blue light is all that is seen until it clicks off, and lowers to reveal a spiky haired man sitting on bench. He raises his brow, smiling a bit as he looks closer.]

Oh! Hello...looks like it actually works. Well...of course it works. I knew that.

[Turning the watch over and over, he seems unbothered by the concept that it's still recording. His face comes back into view as he sits back, splaying an arm over the back of the bench and crosses a leg over the other.]

So! Where is this then? Certainly not a planet I've been to before. In fact... [He furrows his brows in worry now.]

I haven't seen my TARDIS in a while. Oh! Right...sorry. [Putting another grin on his face, he puts his sonic screw driver back into his inner pocket]

[The dark-haired woman simply laughs, bringing a hand to cover her mouth as she offers her other hand out to the long-coated gentleman.]

The Doctor? Of what are you a Doctor of, Doctor? The city you now reside in is called Ruby City, as far as I have been able to learn. It isn't the most informative city, but one that has built its foundations on mysteries.

[Eyes open, looking the newcomer over before she begins to pace around him, as if sizing him up for some terrible purpose.] You don't look as if you'd belong on the open sea, so I'm assuming you are not from the world I reside from. May I ask where you call home, Mister Doctor?

[Yeah, that's probably best. Timey-wimey stuff and she's not going to be the one to try explaining anything and then hearing it from her Doctor later.]

So I've heard.

[She smiles.]

Easiest way is to head to the obelisk in the center of the city, then head straight between the library and clinic to the park. Hard to miss but you won't be able to get in.

The Doctor locks it though. Can't have anyone causing mischief, locking people inside. You know?

[So much for that!]

Whoa now. Let's not get too hasty here. I'm sure we'd need a fight like we'd need a hole in the... alrighty - that sure ain't a good metaphor to bring up.

How about you put you weapon away nice and easy, and I do the same?

B: [Coffee Joint, the rain]

[She was soaking wet, the brim of her hat drooped, her duster shiny and dripping huge puddles, and her spurs clicked and rattled as she tried to stomp out the mud and excess rain on the mat, muttering rather crossly. She felt and was certain she looked like a drown rat]

Holy Jehoshaphat! You'd think that 'em overseers are dumpin' an entire ocean out on our heads! Now is this here the coffee place?
