DEC. TEST DRIVE

G'day, Ruby City!
Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations:
- Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.
- Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?
- The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!
- The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.
- The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.
- The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.
- Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.
Scenarios
- Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.
- Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.
- Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?
- Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!
Have fun, guys!

[Well, now he's angry. That certainly helps Vergil's drive to fight, and it shows when he steps back, only to charge at Dante. There's more force in his upwards swing than the last few have had.]
no subject
[Yeah now he's definitely mad, oops. He miscalculates the force, and the strength behind Vergil's blow sends Rebellion's blade up and harmlessly away, leaving Dante wide open for the moment.]
no subject
Alright, then how about yours?
[He tries to recover from the first strike as quickly as he can, hoping to land something more substantial on Dante's person. But it takes longer with the much larger, heavier sword than it does Yamato, and that throws him off. A fraction of a second can make all the difference in these fights, and he does pride himself on speed. Still, it only takes a moment before he swings again in the same fashion.]
no subject
Same place, guess we're out of luck.
[Keeping a key to the gate to Hell on his person at all times seems like kind of a bad idea. Given his profession. Also various risks of the corrupting nature of power and whatnot.
The heavy blade is what saves him this time, it's just enough time to regain control of his momentum and he brings Rebellion back down to attempt to bat away the heavier blade. That wouldn't have happened with Yamato, but then again Vergil always was better suited to the lighter blade than something like this thing. Really, Mundus, what were you thinking?
He's just going to put off mentioning anything about Trish because yeah that'll go over swimmingly.]
no subject
[Like his own, apparently.
This is getting him nowhere. A handful of glowing, ghostly swords appear, a change of pace. And hopefully something to distract while he repositions himself. If he can't handle this sword the same way he's accustomed to, he'll just have to mimick Dante's style, something more suited to a larger blade.]
no subject
[Assuming that's what Trish did. Yeah, we'll go with that. Cough cough.
The older brother taking a lesson from the younger? Now that's a switch. So, it's the summoned swords, is it? Easy enough. Rebellion is traded for Ebony and Ivory, bullets tearing through the air after those swords. Nero's were always easier to break than Vergil's, but Dante isn't completely out of practice. Finally he actually has an opponent he has to pay attention to.]
You're going to have to try harder than this! Come on, big brother, you can do better.
[Clearly Vergil you just need to stab him a lot to shut him up.]
no subject
[He keeps them coming as he lunges, aiming to skewer the other (since it's apparently the thing to do). He's willing to take the risk of a few bullets if the reward is good. And chances are, if he needs to take a few hits, some of the summoned swords are getting through as well, so it should be equal enough. ]
I see you still insist on those guns...
[His tone couldn't possibly radiate disapproval and contempt any more than it already does.]
no subject
[Even with the threat of impending stabbing, and some of those summoned swords getting really close to their mark, he manages a dramatic pose with his guns. Always has to be showing off, doesn't he? And they are, he's mostly aiming for the swords but there's always the chance of stray bullets, and he can't hit them all.
It becomes impossible to defend from both the summoned swords and Vergil's lunge, so he takes the risk and lets the lesser threats through. Sure they sting and slice him up pretty well, but it's a small sacrifice. He lunges in in to meet Vergil's strike, launching into a series of swift vicious blows. Damn the small injuries he's having fun now.]
These girls have watched my back for years, you can't ask me to give them up.
[The guns are awesome Vergil you're just jealous.]
no subject
Vergil parries, nearly grinning. It's refreshing.]
A true warrior wouldn't fall to using such worthless things.
no subject
Dante just uses the momentum of the parry to carry on his attack. The nice thing about large swords is they made decent battering rams.]
'A true warrior', did you forget who you're talking to? I don't give a damn about that old-fashioned crap. Limiting yourself takes the fun out of it.
[Besides, there were some demons that were immune to swords, evolving to guns is just good business practice.]
no subject
[Dante is stronger than he remembers, that much is expected, between his own weakened state and the extra years of experience. Holding his ground is really all Vergil can do while the assault continues, having to hold onto the end of his own blade for the extra force. It cuts into his palm, but he pays it little mind.]
no subject
[There's a pause there as the last blow slows, red energy crackling along his blade again and this time he swings it hard at Vergil, as if batting a home run.]
Without a surprise?
[Stronger yes, at this age he's at the strongest he's ever been. And while his stay in the city has been a rather lazy one, his skills haven't dwindled that much.]
no subject
Hah, you've gotten better, at least...
no subject
Yeah, I've been working out.
[He flashes a cocky grin as he leaps away, switching to a different weapon hismelf: Lucifer.]
That's a big compliment coming from you.
[When's the last time Vergil actually praised him? That was pretty awesome actually.]
no subject
Don't let it go to your head; it's a fact, not a compliment.
[And that's something he doesn't recognise. He anticipated a switch to gauntlets as well, if anything. It's frustrating, knowing he's been left so behind. Not knowing what to expect of this new devil arm, he plays it safe, let Dante come to him.]
no subject
Also you know carrying a rose around is more hilarious. Where did that come from we just don't know.
Lucifer is a bit of a unique weapon, on first glance it's difficult to tell exactly what it will do, on second glance it looks more like a melee weapon, but when Dante begins idly tossing ominously glowing swords into the air that simply hover, it quickly becomes clear that whatever it is it is going to be irritating and not make a lot of sense.
Until he steps back, snaps, and the swords fall into alignment just over his shoulder. Another snap, and all five launch themselves at Vergil like pinpointed arrows.
This is how annoying your summoned swords are, bro.]
no subject
But there's not much time for that, or to voice it, before he has to get rid of those swords. A roundhouse kick should do away with most of them (he supposes he'll find out) and in the next instant he's once again disappeared and rematerialised before Dante, aiming a greave to his chin.]
no subject
Be careful with those, they have a tendency to explode. Or stick to you, then explode. And while Vergil can certainly break several before that happens can he break all of them? The main benefit to Lucifer is the range, close enough to keep ranged foes from having the upper hand and with enough distance to react to harder hitting enemies. Of course that was moot when they could teleport.
He's quick enough to just avoid taking the full force of the blow, but it does send him flying back and smacking into a tree, which probably sucked more for the tree than Dante.]
Haha! Now this is more like it, come on!
[There's an excitement to his tone now, something that can only be brought out by a damned good fight. More swords are placed about randomly (is he dancing? It looks a lot like he"s dancing), a web of traps awaiting one wrong move.]
I could buy back my paid or I could be lazy and use gilver, whatever
Hah, I'm not rampaging around, you're wasting your time!
[Vergil rushes at him, pushing off the ground and extending a heel as he comes down above Dante.]
votes for lazy and uses gilver
Well then I'll just have to try something new!
[As long as he doesn't get too close to the swords they won't detonate, but Dante didn't think he'd be careless enough to blunder into them. A trap like that was more suited for the likes of puppets and scarecrows.
As Vergil descended Dante leaped into the air, then leaped again off of the energy that coalesced beneath him. They could be at this all night, which was fine, but eventually they'd get bored. Time to take some risks. As he flipped off of the second jump more swords were thrown, though this time after he lands he snaps and sends them all to circle Vergil.
Remember when you used to do that one to him? A lot? Yeah, he really hated it. Time for a taste of your own medicine, bro.]
\o/
no subject
Now that's satisfying, and bound to come with some repercussions. Time for another switch, and this one to the ever so flashy Gilgamesh. He'll stop teasing you with tiny explosions brother.]
What's the matter? Getting slow in your old age, we're going to have to work on that.
no subject
[He gets to his feet, cracking his neck. It smarts, but that's just how this brotherly bonding goes. Another quick flash and he's inches from the other, a left hook, then right.]
no subject
[Had it even been that long? Had it been that long already? He's not old, how rude. It's the scruff, isn't it? That must be it.
And boy, Vergil can still take a beating that's for certain, but before Dante can even enjoy knocking him on his ass he's up and swinging again. Unfortunately for Dante, Vergil was still faster than him when it came to hand to hand. Sure he could dodge like a pro, but close quarters made that a lot more difficult. The first blow is blocked, barely, the second hits him square on the jaw and sends him reeling. Next time pay better attention and shut up, that is on the agenda.
Though it sends him reeling he still spins, quick to retaliate with a roundhouse kick in Vergil's direction. Not going down that easy.]
no subject
[Yeah, it's the scruff.
He reaches to grab that leg. He could throw him, attack while he's down, but it would be infinitely more entertaing to just hold him there.]
