7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

The Coffee Shop

[Serah's sitting in a corner, sipping on an expresso--with too much sugar, really--and watching the little city. She smiles and waves as a child goes past, wondering if there's any openings at the school--if there is one. She'd have to check that out. But for now, coffee and people watching.]

The Train Station

[Being new to the city, Serah's trying to strike up a conversation with anyone who looks like they know what they're doing, regardless of whether they do or not. So, excuse the tap on your shoulder as Serah walks around to face you.]

Hello. [She smiles sheepishly.]

Would you be willing to help me out? I'm a bit lost.

OOC: Spoilers are A-OK with me!

Coffee Shop

[Coffee run. She figured it was the least she could do with how she and Lightning had stayed up so late. The woman had insisted in pulling an all nighter studying the Pulsian language, and much to Fang's displeasure, she had to be the willing tutor.

Sighing tiredly, she adjusted her jacket and opened the door, listening to the bells herald her arrival.

Honestly, she tried to make it to the counter, but her eyes had a habit of sweeping the rooms she entered, just to make sure, and they landed right on a head of pink hair.

She had to take a slower step, placing her foot down tentatively. She could have been having hallucinations. Who's to say? The city had long since gotten to her head, and she was half convinced she was going mad. She already had a bit loose upstairs at the start. Blinking, she stared for just a moment longer, her voice cracking some under the strain of it tightening. Wait'll Lightning hears about this.]

S-...Serah?

[Serah couldn't say she wasn't surprised at the voice. Realizing it was vaguely familiar, she turned to look at the woman who had uttered the words. She blinked, and stood up. It wasn't what she last saw the woman wearing, but...]

Fang? Is that you?

[It was her. She was sure of it, and the moment she realized that, her chest clenched. This girl had died and she had watched from crystal sleep. Even after helping her to the best of her ability, she had been able to do nothing to stop it.

She had told Lightning everything, even though the woman had no idea what was to come. She had been devastated, and she knew that she just wasn't quite the same. She could see it in her eyes every day she was around her.

And then another thought came to mind, and it caused her face to color. They would have to tell the girl eventually.]

Yeah...Yeah Lil' Farron. It's me. You...You're... [Deep breath Fang. In, out, okay, now count.]

You're alive.

[Serah stared blankly at her. What did Fang mean, she was alive? Of course she was. She was all done with everything, and Caius was gone. The paradoxes were gone. She should have been safe.

Maybe this Fang was from a different time? One before she had awakened from her crystal sleep? That would make sense.]

Yeah, I am. Thanks to you and Vanille, I woke up from my crystal sleep.

[It was possible that this Serah could very well be from any time before that, and when she responded, it only solidified that she didn't know yet.

This made it hurt all the more. She was moments before, and only Fang, Lightning, Caius and Yuel knew what was to come. Lightning.]

Oh, sh--... Okay. Okay, you...we need to get back. Lightning's gonna wanna see you and she'll have my head if I don't get you to her now.

Back? Home?

[She sounds confused, but she'd love to go home. It doesn't seem like that's going to happen, though, so she cocks her head to the side. But, shw perks up at the name of Lightning, grinning.]

She's here?

[ So about one of those people that look like they know what they are doing, but really not? Yeah, congrats on getting that random chance there, Serah! Of course, with Honori being an adventurer of sort that is always accepting (re)quests, he naturally brightens up-- until he realizes that it's a woman asking him. Now things will just get awkward for him as he shys away a bit and hiding underneath his crudely drawn map. Fun times ahead.]

A-Ah... yes? I can try to offer any assistance I could... but... ah, I'm not exactly the ideal person to be of help, I'm afraid.

[Serah notices how shy he is, and tries her hardest to seem less threatening, offering a kind smile and folding her hands behind her back. Her tone is unwavering bright and kind, like she would use with her students that seem upset.]

It's okay. Could I look at that map? I'm just trying to gather as much information as I can.

[ Well, her nonthreatening body language does help him ease up a bit there. Hesitant at first, Honori then decides to hold out the map he had been drawing. Currently, it's just a layout of the housing area with little notes about certain locations and about monster sightings being seen in those areas. ]

Sure... it's not a complete map, but its a personal one I'm still trying to update bit by bit whenever I have a chance. There is also the neighboring borders around the city... like the plains, the forests, and the like I haven't explored too deeply yet.

Oh, well, this is pretty detailed for not being complete.

[She's genuinely surprised, too. She gives back the map, knowing she really can't keep it because who knows when she'll see this boy again.]

Anywhere you suggest I go first?

I suppose so. I'm trying to piece together a complete map to where every location possible to visit is at least recorded for easier use. Hopefully I'll have enough time and resources to post something at the local library for everyone to reference on.

[He then pauses to think carefully on her question after taking the map back.]

I... think a good start would be going to the tave-- err, the coffee joint. It is where most people tend to gather for socializing, I've noticed. And the library would be the next safer bet. I'd muchly recommend finding any friends or family that may have arrived here with you. Having a familiar face with you would help getting used to things here. Other than that?

[He taps on the many vacant houses on the map before folding it away.]

Finding a place to stay is another priority that I'd recommend.

Thanks! Can you point me in the direction of the coffee house? That would be a great help. Or, maybe, if I listed some names, would you be able to tell me if they're here?

[She has people to look for, and that would help her know if she can crash anywhere for the night, if need be.]

[Akira stopped mid-step as he addressed her, then turned fully in her direction.]

I was out for a walk, but I don't mind giving up a little time. What's up?

Coffee Shop

[It's one of those strange paradox phenomenons where Caius does take in a little bit here and there and coffee has become more important to him than tea thanks to a certain scientist that has befriended him.

Wearing black western style clothing along with his trademark hairstyle, headband, and beads, he approaches the counter, takes his coffee and stirs it while he finds a table. He's pretty much gotten used to the idea that people pretty much leaves him alone for the most part and the little break from time to time from watching Yeul, taking care of her and being somewhat normal (aside from the machete strapped to his thigh instead of Chaos' Revenge on his back), he's also been looking for patterns of behavior on Yeul's behalf.

He turns his head to look out the window to watch. This is pretty much his way of doing things other than standing on rooftops or watching from high places or flying around the city at night in his Chaos Bahamut form which has yet to be noticed.

Yet something familiar pulls his gaze from the window and his brow knits into a scowl.]

Child of Miracles, you have come at last.

[He's seen the prophecies even though he hasn't experienced the events yet.]

Last I had witnessed your presence we were in Oerba.

[She pays no mind to people entering the shop, too focused on the outside world to recognize the villain who enters. But, she turns when addressed to. She recognizes the voice instantly, standing and putting herself on guard, preparing whatever magic she might have in case of a possible fight. She doesn't want to hurt anyone, at least, not anyone innocent. So she doesn't attack quite yet.]

Caius! I don't want to cause any trouble.

[servaturus]

[He didn't move or shift in his seat one bit. He lifted his hand with his wrist still resting on the table and lowered it in a gesture for Serah to calm down.]

Relax. I have no intention of engaging you

[Coupled with the fact that he's been keeping himself under control and Yeul had her leash on him pretty tight, he wasn't about to start anything he can't finish. Not to mention, he wasn't about to sit through another one of Noel's lectures.]

I have made a pact with your sister.

[And he wasn't about to meet Lightning's sword just yet. This wasn't the time or the place.]

[cantfixtime]

Good.

[She relaxes enough to show she isn't going to attack, but she still seems very nervous. Her eyes watch him as she sits down, making sure he stays true to his word, unaware of exactly what has been going on without her here.

She goes back to drinking her coffee, and a few minutes of silence occurs.]

Where is she? Can you tell me?

[So far, he's satisfied that Serah is returning to her usual self. He has watched with Yeul in New Bodham and knows the life she's had there. Lightning has been her foundation and to strip that from her isn't his purpose. He takes a sip of his coffee that he often takes black with sugar and chocolate before he addresses the question.]

Last I knew, she resides in a flower shop with Fang. Events have molded anew a sense of reality that even I cannot change.

[He'll leave the details out for Lightning to explain. Without the ability to travel through time to correct the situation, it's all been done the hard way.]

If she is still there, you will be welcomed. If she is not, the ones that reside there can give you further information.

[She starts to quickly finish her coffee, ignoring the bitterness that comes at the bottom, not wanting to spend time around the person that nearly killed her sister. Even if he gives her the information she needs, she has no real reason to trust him.

After all, he did say Lightning was dead the last time they talked.]

Thank you. But, if you dare touch my sister ever again....I won't forgive you.

Huh!?

[Noel jumped as the tap on the shoulder and voice caught him completely off guard which wasn't common... although not many things were common now days. He turned around to see...]

Serah? How did... hold on a sec.

[He stepped back in bewilderment as he looked the girl up and down.]

Are you... are you really Serah?

[He wasn't sure weather he should be happy or confused or angry or what? This couldn't be Serah, could it?]

How... How did you get here? Who are you really?

[He said this with a cautious tone of voice.]

Why wouldn't it be me?

[She just smiles and shakes her head.]

I'm Serah, and you and I have been fixing the timeline together. We're going to change the future, remember?

[She cocks her head.]

Did you hit your head or something? Where are we?

[miracle_seeker]

[Noel stepped back in shock... did she really foret?... how could she remember though when...]

No... No, you can't be Serah... Serah's [He suppresses his anger.] Serah's not here anymore.

[There was a part of him that really wanted her to be Serah, but he'd been through too much to believe she'd just drop out of nowhere.]

[He thought for a moment about what Yeul, his Yeul said about seeing her again... could this be the same with Serah? A place like this had many paradoxes; people showing up from various worlds and time periods, objects from different time lines co-existing with each other.]

If you're really Serah.... If you're really Serah, then ... [Noel tried to think of a good question to ask her, but his memory was pretty foggy so he had a hard time coming up with something. This inturn made him more irritated.]

Then prove it.

[She looked confused--"not here anymore"? She...did she die? Coming from a world where everything had looked bright, Serah couldn't understand. Their journey was almost over. What could have gone wrong?

Perhaps he had been returned to his own time. That is what she desperately hoped. Her eyes seemed desperate, wanting to know everything that was going on in his head.]

What do you mean, 'not here anymore'?

[Irritated by his questioning, Serah looked impatiently at him.]

Noel Kriess, you came riding in on a meteor into my life saying you could help me find Lightning. You wouldn't lie to me; I wouldn't lie to you. We're going to create a future where you don't live at the end of the world. Where Lightning and I can be together again.

[miracle_seeker]

[Noel lowered his guard for a moment to think.]

Hm... well that sounds right. ... but you were...

[He shook his head, not knowing what to make of this.]

Dammit, I don't know what to think anymore. We already made it to the end, saved everyone.

[Noel started to pace as he tried to find the words to explain.]

But I guess the gods had different plans. Yo saw the future one too many times and then... well, that was it.

We saved the future, but it cost. After that...

[he stopped to think and scratched his head.]

Well after that I'm not sure what happened... after that I was getting off the train here.

[Then he looked directly at her.]
