2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?

3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!

4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.

5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.

6. The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.

7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

[ Bars are a detective's best friend. A little liquor loosened lips, and Eddie was an expert at getting people talking. He was on the prowl for answers. Doffing his hat and leaning his cane against the bar, he settled in, asking for a beer and scanning the bar briefly, before he admited to no one in particular: ]

You know I don't recognize some of these drinks. Are these from local breweries, or someplace else?

[ You there, fine patron! He's asking you! ]

[ When in a new place, explore the literature. You can learn a lot about a place, from its social mores to it's challenges. Edward is a voracious reader to boot, so it's unsurprising that he's settled into the Ruby City library with armloads of books, and a note pad, trying to discern if it's native writing or if it's 'imported' as with many of the residents. ]

[ He's moving here and there to gather related volumes, poring over fiction and nonfiction alike. There's an answer to the city's riddle locked in here somewhere, and he wants to find it. ]

[ Labrys and the library got along to say the least. She practically ate the library up (in a way that was purely metaphorical) and could be found there almost every day, at least for a couple hours. Her plan is to try and read everything by the beginning of summer. (It shouldn't be too hard, she reads pretty fast.)

Knowledge is power, right?

--And also maybe Mr. Darcy is cute, they are both entirely valid, literature related statements.

In one hand stands a sizable stack of books, easily taller than Labrys herself, while the other plucks up titles, seemingly at random. It teeters every once and a while, but she adjusts habitually without even looking over. She's kind of a regular, after all. Lots of practice. Reaching over, she's about to grab another book when someone's hand just happens to get in the way. She looks up, slightly startled. ]

Oh uh. Sorry. My bad.

[ That's... a lot of books. Edward tips his hat back, tilting himself around the stack to try and find the person holding it. Oh. It's a young woman. Best smile now, Edward, don't be a creeper. ]

[ Well, he said she could have it so-- Labrys picks the book up with silver fingers, holding it close to her person. Her lovely stack is a bit too tall to put new titles on top, really. ]

[ Edward your first reaction should not be 'i want to watch' because it makes you sound like a creeper. A huge creeper. ]

I got a friend who's even faster than me! But his programming is more up to date than mine so that's probably why.

[ She shrugs, a small metal sound like the sliding of gears. ]

Anyway, I'm gonna be over there if you need a book.

[ but she's fascinating!!! he wants to know how she works!! and her little friend too!! ]

That's-- kind of amazing. What's your retention like? [ ....these are rude questions, Edward! ] I -- I'm sorry. Edward Nygma. I've never met anyone like you before.

Labrys looks a little surprised. Suddenly, questions! ]

It's okay? [ She's not offended, just slightly startled. ] I'm Labrys. --And uh, to answer your question, well, I remember everything I read. Doesn't everybody?

Well, I suppose it depends on the person and level of recall. You're proposing reading that whole stack in under two hours, so...

[ That's... amazing!!! ]

Humans don't just do that automatically? [ She never knew! ] Huh! You learn new things everyday.

[ Context clues, Eddie. Are you picking them up, like a good detective? ]

Even an advanced reader like myself would have difficulty reading all of that in a week, and our retention, after packing away so much information, would likely be muddled.

Oh, no, from what I can tell almost everybody from my world is human. There are just a few exceptions, like me and my sister. My interactions with people are a little limited is all.
