*His eyes widen slightly, as if he's stunned by what Dante just implied.*

More often than not.

[He shrugs like it's no big deal even though it totally is, and his hand subconsciously goes to the amulet around his neck just for a moment. But, he's still hungry, so if you don't mind he's going to nab a bit more of that lion to roast up.]

*Go ahead, he's just going to sit there chewing in silence for a while. Finally, he looks up with a slightly softer glow to his eyes.*

Is that why you let me go and helped me without asking what I could do for you first?

[He smirks a little. Mother wouldn't be happy if he'd killed a child, even a demonic one.]

*He shifts around like he's uncomfortable, tail settling in one position and then immediately moving to another one.*

[Roast roast. Sword blades sure are handy, but not really very good for this.]

*Emotions are weird, especially when they're ones you've never had cause to feel before. How is a demon supposed to know what gratitude feels like?*

[Yes they are, and you're getting all mushy on him don't do that. He doesn't know how to deal with that.]

*He gives a small and awkward but sincere smile.*

Is this enough food?

[Aww, look at you. Mom would be proud.]

Yeah, 'course. Still more to eat, unless you're still starving?

[It's a pretty big kill. Dante can't eat that much in one sitting.]

*The thing's as big as either of them, after all.*

Well if you can carry what's left maybe we can find somewhere to bunk down for the night. You still gotta work on that shape-shifting thing, yeah?

[And doing it out in the open in the middle of the desert might not be the best, even if it is relatively safe. Compared to the demon world anyway.]

It's lighter than it was when I carried it here.

Great, well let's pack up then.

[Dante gets up and goes about stomping out the fire and kicking dirt on it. Don't want to accidentally start a brush fire or anything. Finding somewhere to bunk down's going to be the hard part.]

*He stands up and hauls the carcass over his shoulder like it weighs nothing, shuffling his hooves a bit in the dust as he waits for Dante to finish putting out the fire.*

[Stomp stomp stomp, bury bury, scuff scuff.. okay that looks good. Okay, sword over his back, last bit of partially charred mountain line between his teeth, let's go. Not sure where we're going but rocks look promising. Rocks have caves generally right?]

*If they don't have them already, you have a demon with you who carries around mountain lions like they're nothing and has claws and hooves. Sandstone is pretty soft. He can make one. But he does hope they can find one as he trundles along. Now that he's calm, he's a bit better at walking, but he still moves with an uncertainty that suggests he's more used to flying.*

[Sorry he's not equipped with wings just yet, and bouncing takes a lot of energy, not to mention he doesn't have anything good to bounce off of anyway.

Luckily it's not far to get into the bluffs, and sandstone being soft usually does have various hollows. Most are far too small, or full of snakes, but some poking around and they should be able to find something.

*He sniffs around...then snorts and rubs his nose with the back of one hand.*

I smell musty air nearby.

[Dante pauses, sniffing as well.]

You're right.

[He's not as keen to it as Alastor probably is, but hey his nose isn't completely useless. Let's go figure out what that is eh?]

Can you tell which way?

*He sniffs again, nods and then takes off up the rocks. He's much more graceful running than walking, possibly because it's easier to balance on such small feet when they're just hitting the ground and then lifting back up.*

[He really is a goat! Look at him go. But Dante can't waste too much time watching, so he's hot on the devil's heels, hopping up rocks nearly as gracefully. He's had a lot of practice you see.]
