Let's Have a Debate about Wishes (since the whole fighting about them thing went so well)

Hi RC. This is a quick OOC post to give everyone a heads up that Captain Steve Rogers and Waver Velvet are going to be attempting to host a public forum discussion tomorrow (27 June) about what to do with the wishing well. It’s going to be held over in the theatre (with deepest gratitude to Rip for allowing them to borrow the building), and it is a time sensitive post, as there will be actual polls to try and reach a consensus about what to do with the wish.

The Timeframe

We want to make sure everyone has a chance, both OOCly and ICly to make your opinion known, but at the same time we don’t want to let the IC discussions drag on for ages. So there will be multiple threads in the post for suggestions and discussion. The discussion can be backtagged as long as we want! But once the 48 hour period is over for the initial suggestions, they will all be compiled into a poll. Specific details about polls etc. are below!

As such, the first poll will go up OOCly on June 29th. The characters can then vote on their favourite options for wishes.

On July 1st the top five options will be voted on a second time, to narrow it down to one wish.

If you feel the timeframe is too short, please let us know. We do want to allow everyone to participate if they want.

The Thread Order

Because we’re going to be having a lot of threads, and fostering a lot of discussion, we will be splitting things up into six thread headings, with specific purposes.

Thread 1: IC suggestions of what to do with the wish. If you have a suggestion, please post on this thread within the first 48 hours. While the actual debate can totally go on for as long as you want, we want to be able to make the first poll
Thread 2: IC arguments that “let’s not do anything with the wish.”
Thread 3: Will contain a link to the poll that we will be using. This link will also be posted ON THE OOC COMMUNITY so that everyone is aware of what’s going on. The poll will be open for 48 hours. The link’s inclusion here is only for continuity.
Thread 4: IC discussion of the winning 5 poll results.
Thread 5: Will contain another poll link, to determine what will be done with the wish. This link will also be posted ON THE OOC COMMUNITY so that everyone is aware of what’s going on. Again, the poll will be open for 48 hours. The link’s inclusion here is only for continuity.
Thread 6: Will contain the results/final wish. Again, we’ll also post the final results to the OOC community.

Questions and Answers

Holy crap what is it with Ruby City and wishing devices? We don’t even know, but at least we’re not looking at a massive amount of death this time. Unless someone’s thinking parliamentary riot.

Are the mods cool with this? Yes! We’ve cleared everything with the mods, and they've agreed no matter what wish choice wins, they’re willing to try to find a way to make it work within the constraints of the game

Is voting done IC or OOC? IC.

What if I have multiple characters? We will include an additional textbox on the poll (we'll be using Google Forms) for people to write in their character name + vote, and will manually add in those numbers after the polls close.

More to be added as you guys ask questions

Will we be casting votes by character ICly or will the poll be one-vote-per-player?

Since, naturally, some people are going to have characters that oppose each other. Edward might wish for one thing, but Jack'll vote for anything that'll go good of group, while Bruce might abstain, etc.

Thoughts?

Meg you can delete this comment when you see it and make the edit, but at mod request we should change

"no matter what wish choice wins, they’re willing to find a way to make it work."

to

"no matter what wish choice wins, they’re willing to try to find a way to make it work within the constraints of the game"

Since Orihime's incorporeal, she's likely to give her shard to Waver at the fair, since she trusts him to do the right thing with it. She'll still attend the meeting, though!

Archie is literally not giving up her or Gilgamesh's pieces unless she likes the wish that gets decided on, so I'm gomen in advance for any wrenches that throws into the mix. orz

Nah, not entirely. I mean, that's part of it to a small degree, but she's really, really not keen on being a part of a process she thinks everyone is going to regret. Like, WISHES ARE BAD NEWS GUYS THEY REALLY ARE! :(

That's fair! And honestly gives her reason to argue and possibly campaign for a wish she would support?

Her vote is going toward INTERNET because she's... herself, but she won't withhold her piece if other people want something other than internet, either. :3

Gilgamesh is pretty much in the same boat as Archie. Gilgamesh will be refusing to give up his and Archie's pieces (because clearly the latter is his by extension) if he dislikes any of the wishes for the following reasons:

1.) Those pieces are his, thus he can't let anyone have them under his law he instated as King. 2.) He wants no part of this blow-back if he thinks the wishes are ridiculous (which he's stated more-or-less IC without revealing himself). He doesn't trust it.

A lot of his "cooperation" banks on the ability to be swayed by people who are closest to him talking sense at him until he deigns to go in on it. The further trouble he's adding is that he doesn't even have a wish (or a wish he's all right with at the moment), so he also has nothing to campaign for besides "no".

weeps i'm so sorry for him in advance. he is like the wrench of the wrenches.

Can characters make multiple suggestions? (Even though they only get one vote in the end.)

I don't see a problem with that.
