    Bringing up sore spots...

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-02 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Dead men can cause a great deal of trouble. What dead men cannot do is walk and talk and greet the living," Albert responded with a toss of his head meant to shake back his wayward bangs. "Unless, as you say, you find yourself trapped in Mayfel. However, I would expect to find myself in more cherished company in that place," his expression sharpened into silent accusation and he held Lloyd's gaze for a long moment before tossing his hair again. "Therefore, this is certainly not Mayfel."
    platinum_shadow: (My awesome armor)

    Whoops. Lloyd, master of tact.

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-02 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, Melbu Frahma, Albert had a perfectly valid point. "Indeed," He wouldn't argue. Again, no reason to. He folded his arms, breaking the gaze after a few moments. It wasn't his place to stand his ground any longer. He'd lost that footing when he'd lost his path. Such certainty he'd had in his quest, and now only questions. "To think even left in ruins for so long it still traps souls." He mused more to himself than to Albert.

"Never the less that leads to more pressing questions. Where is this, and how is it we both find ourselves here?" Back on track. "Considering our final parting I have to wonder did you succeed in bringing down Melbu Frahma?"

After everything, even Albert's less than friendly reception, his concern still remained where it always had: the fate of their world. Utopia it wasn't, but he'd never sought its destruction either.

Albert eases up on the guilt trip.

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-02 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
Albert regarded Lloyd thoughtfully for a moment before nodding his head in the affirmative. "I do not know if it is the Utopia you desired, but your people no longer keep themselves secret in the shadows of the forests. Though some choose to remain in their villages, many others have chosen the world beyond their walls. As to the former, I am afraid I am just as informed as you on that topic. We appear to be..." the young king looked around again, "in an old building in severe need of maintenance."
    platinum_shadow: (Follow my fate)

    Awww thanks Al

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-02 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
Lloyd gave a small nod. Curt, but grateful. It wasn't exactly what he'd aimed for, but... It was something. It was hope. And that would have to be good enough. After all, he wasn't around to try to change things any longer. "Thank you," Lloyd was many things, but disrespectful he wasn't. "Perhaps, in time, more will venture back into the world."They will never regain what they once were. Perhaps it is better that way."

He didn't know anymore. The plan was Diaz's, after all, he was simply the instrument to make the plan come to fruition. Lloyd turned his attention back to the king. "Beyond is a small town, though I do not recognize the architecture. The closest I can assume is human, but beyond that I do not know."

Do spirits build towns, he wondered?

    The matter at hand

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-04 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Albert nodded, gazing thoughtfully past the Wingly, "Perhaps it is time we...what is the phrase? Compare notes?" His gaze shifted back to Lloyd. "It would behoove us to share what little information we have before venturing into unfamiliar territory. You have been here a little longer. Do you recall how you came to be here? And what have you seen so far other than the town?"
    platinum_shadow: (Swordsman)

Easier than not talking about old wounds

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-04 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
Another curt nod of agreement, grateful for the subject change. Tactics, planning and organizing he could do. This... uncomfortable round-about discussion about the elephant in the room was a bit much for Lloyd, he was content to leave it rest for now. Besides there was a much more pressing matter to deal with.

"The same as you," He nodded toward the tracks. "Aboard the strange mechanical construct. Beyond that, I have scouted a small fraction of the town. Most buildings appear residential, though overall it is quiet. Not empty, there are others here, but I have not yet approached them."

As a Wingly he tended to be somewhat wary and distant toward humans.

Albert fails to nerd a solution

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-04 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Albert lifted a hand to rest his knuckle against his lips. He was silent for a moment, considering. At length he lifted his hand away slightly to speak, "A strange machine that even you don't recognise. Architecture even you are unfamiliar with." The young king sighed and lowered his hand, "This scenario defies logic. What's more we hardly have enough knowledge with which to arm ourselves. We will continue to be at a disadvantage here."
    platinum_shadow: (Wingly)

If Albert fails then they're really in deep trouble

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-04 03:19 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed," Lloyd sounded just as enthused about the idea as Albert did. Which was to say, not thrilled in the least. Unfamiliar territory, unfamiliar circumstances, only questions and so far no answers. Out in the cold wasn't a problem, not yet anyway, but it would become one quickly if the residents proved to be hostile in some manner. "Perhaps questioning the locals will shed some light on our situation?" By which he meant Albert should do that, of course.

He was much better with people.
    trueanddestined: (Default)

    Albert has nerd worries

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-04 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
"That would indeed seem to be the only solution," Albert settled his hands on his hips and looked down at the ground. "How do we go about this exactly? I wish we had at least a passing familiarity with the local customs. Do we even know if we speak the same language? What if we insult them somehow?" The man was speaking quietly and rapidly, apparently to himself, though certainly loud enough for Lloyd to hear.
    platinum_shadow: (Lloyd)

    Understandable nerd worries

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-04 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Fortunately for Albert, Lloyd did have an answer to that. Wordlessly he raised an arm to point at one of the information posters scattered around the station. They were in a mixture of languages, one of them their own. Luckily.

    Somehow?

"At some point someone here spoke our language, with luck they will still remain. As for the rest we will not know the answers until we seek them ourselves." Again a habit he was accustomed to. Albert debating with himself noisily, usually it was Noish in charge of this sort of thing, but that didn't mean Lloyd hadn't overheard.
    trueanddestined: (Default)

    Well....there's a map. That's something...

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-05 04:48 am (UTC)(link)
Albert looked up at Lloyd questioningly before shifting his gaze toward the posters, "Ah." He straightened and walked toward the postings. "I am ashamed I did not notice these sooner. It seems I am quite a bit more shaken than even I realise...." He looked over the posters for a long moment. "A...pocket timepiece?" He idly placed his index fingers and thumbs together to form a circle, mimicking the image on the poster. "That seems impractical... Use the...what? This is not a word..." Albert muttered, frustration entering his voice. "Sound, text, ...vi..deo?"
    platinum_shadow: (Default)

    Many useful things abound!

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-05 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Understandable. It is not often one is abducted by foreign machines only to be released in a strange land, with no sense of reason behind the act," The situation they found themselves in was a particularly strange and unnerving one, that was certain. Even so it would be wise not to get too distracted by the circumstances. They still had no idea what they were up against.

"From these notices I think it is safe to assume that this is not a singular occurrence here. Even if the language is... strange." Master of putting things mildly: Lloyd the Wingly.
    trueanddestined: (Unamused)

    He'll work it through eventually.

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-06 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed. So perhaps we are safe from any cultural faux pas. Which is good. We would not want to cause an international incident. How then do we acquire these time pieces?" He asked as he again studied the posters. He slowly touched his index fingers and thumbs together again in a circle. "This image is...simple, but it does seem somewhat familiar..."
    platinum_shadow: (Prophecy)

    He is industrious

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-06 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
"How diplomatic," Leave it to Albert to be concerned about that first of all, and not necessarily their own survival or safety. They came from very different worlds, and times like these really made that stand out. Lloyd considered the posters a few moments longer, before silently turning to move away. They weren't going to learn anything standing in one place all day. "Familiar? How do you mean?" He did pause to cast a sidelong glance over his shoulder at the king. Are you coming, or not?
    trueanddestined: (Default)

Albert is so stressed right now

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-07 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"I'm not sure. It has been a...stressful evening," He let his hands fall to his sides and shook his head. "Perhaps I am imagining things."

Albert took another look at the map before turning to follow Lloyd.

"Where do you suggest we venture first then?"
    platinum_shadow: (Hooded man)

    Who can blame him?

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-08 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
Another simple nod. Indeed, it certainly was stressful. Although he did cast Albert a bit of a skeptical look, now was not the best time to start losing command of his faculties.

"I do not know what a po-lice is, nor can I imagine what use we would have for a clinic or a park at this time. That leaves us with the clock tower, and obelisk."

Which were near enough to each other they didn't really need to choose which to visit first.
    trueanddestined: (Worried)

    *side eye*

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-08 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
"I cannot imagine what useful information we might find at a clock tower," Albert retorted. "Unless your idea is to gather information in a more...discreet manner."
    platinum_shadow: (My awesome armor)

What :3 not up to nothin'

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-08 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
The mysterious slight-smirk probably wasn't very encouraging to the young king who was very aware of Lloyd's particular talents. And the amount of trouble they could cause. "Personally I was more interested in this 'obelisk', unless you have a better suggestion?"

You have to admit, Albert, he was good at gathering information.
    trueanddestined: (Default)

Don't trust that smile at. all.

    [personal profile] trueanddestined 2014-11-08 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
Albert's eyes narrowed slightly at the Wingly's smirk. He was well aware of Lloyd's uncanny ability to just know things.

"Despite the fact that we seem to both find ourselves in a situation that neither of us are familiar with, I still have quite a good reason, I think, to be more than a little wary of following your lead."
    platinum_shadow: (Wingly)

It's totally cool boss nothing to see here

    [personal profile] platinum_shadow 2014-11-08 05:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I have no intention of repeating past mistakes."

What, precisely, he meant by that was up for interpretation. However, since Albert was lingering too long for his tastes Lloyd simply turned and began to stride away again. He had an obelisk and a clock tower to investigate, Albert was welcome to come if he so desired. No one was forcing him.
