I'm an acquaintance of her family. The Tohsaka Rin I encountered here was not quite the same as the one I am familiar with; that is to say, she was significantly older. This place seems to play havoc with both time and basic logic.

Yes. I had heard something about that. Then, the Rin you know: She would not have been a girl in her teens?

No--I believe she was only around eight or nine years old.

[He'd never exactly thought to ask Tokiomi himself.]

Understood. That would have been some time before I met her. Was she doing well, the Rin you met here?

Well enough, as far as I was able to tell. We only spoke once or twice; it seemed as though she didn't particularly care to associate with me for some reason.

[Gosh, who could ever turn down Kirei's mapo tofu delightful company?]

Perhaps the two of you are just natural enemies. After all, she's the kind of girl you can count on to believe in such things.

Somehow, that explanation wouldn't surprise me if it turned out to be true.

But tell me, how exactly do you know her? Are you an associate of Tokiomi's?

No. I met Rin during the Fifth Holy Grail War in Fuyuki.

Am I correct in assuming I'm speaking to Kotomine Kirei? Saber informed me you had come to this place.

[Oh, wonderful. More people that knew him and avoided him like the plague for reasons that made no sense yet.]

That's correct. And if I'm to make an assumption of my own, you're either another mage or--more likely--a Servant. Is that also correct?

You're correct. I was summoned as Archer by Tohsaka Rin, but it appears that this city holds enough power to suspend my contract with her, so that matters little.

[...Of course she would have summoned Archer. Kirei wondered for just a moment if Tokiomi would have given his own catalyst to his daughter, but...no, even if he had done so, this absolutely wasn't Gilgamesh.]

[(For some reason, the absence of the arrogant king struck him as something bordering on disappointment. Strange.)]

I've noticed as much--Saber's own Master doesn't seem to be here either.

[And that was the real disappointment, wasn't it?]

Unfortunately, I can offer little to no explanation for how or why this place works as it does.

That's fine. I had no intention of asking, as, since Saber also informs me the Grail War is not taking place in this city, no one here is under any obligation to perform as the War Overseer.

That said, I would like to return as soon as possible to Fuyuki. While I appreciate that my existence is not constricted by contract in this city, I cannot complete my business here. Saber did not know of an exit, but perhaps you do?

I'm afraid not; if I did know of such a thing, I can assure you I would not be here having this conversation in the first place.

The general consensus seems to be that there isn't an exit, and for now I find myself inclined to agree with that.

Of course. Well, it was worth a shot. I'll have to find something else with which to occupy my time here.

It isn't currently necessary. You don't know what you don't know. What do you find to do here, though, without your church?

It's my father's church, or was last I knew.

[Something really was bothering him about that, but Kirei decided not to pursue the line of thought right now.]

And if I'm to be completely honest, I'm not certain. Reason dictates that I should seek a way out of here, or see if Master Tokiomi arrives as well. I'm afraid an apprentice isn't much without his teacher.

[In short, he completely lacked guidance or reason to do nearly anything. He didn't even have Kiritsugu Emiya to chase after at this point.]

[Well, "bored sadist priest" doesn't sound like a disaster waiting to happen. But it's not exactly Archer's place to say anything, and it's not his problem, either.]

I've been here for approximately two months, I think.

Even if I knew of any, I have little interest in studying under another.
