Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.


Scenarios


1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. CURRENT EVENTS - None at the moment, but feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

Nadeshiko smiled brightly at him, and took his hand, backing up, trying to pull him to the center of the room. "Grace is simply a matter of practice and skill. Doing the first gives you the second."

Erestor moves with all the natural grace of the Elves, but his is the patient grace of the hunter, the scout used to being absolutely still, and although he follows her easily enough he looks very doubtful.

"Perhaps so, but I cannot see it."

"You need to unlock your heart!" she said brightly. "And your imagination. It is something you can learn, I'm sure of it!"

Once they were in the center of the room, Nadeshiko let go of his hand and took the first pose, facing him. "Face me, and mirror what I do, we'll go slow, get the forms first, then we can work on transitioning between them."

"I don't have much imagination." Erestor says wryly "Or so I have been told many times."

Well - he simply uses his imagination for different purposes.

"Very well." He mimics her positioning.

"Sure you do!" Nadeshiko said happily. Everyone does! Alright, so this is the first form," she said, taking a dancing stance, facing him. Over her shoulder, Temari took the same pose, smiling brightly.

"Not according to my lord's sons, I do not." Wryly, but he copies her "Like so?"

She moved to start fixing his pose carefully with soft touches and firm but gentle hands. "Very close," Nadeshiko said, approvingly. "And whoever disparages the imagination of others clearly fears that they have little of their own."

Erestor grins suddenly, sharp as a knife.

"Oh, never let the twins hear you say that. Full-grown and solemn they are now, but a part of them takes great pride in that they were once Imladris' greatest menaces. They might consider such a statement a challenge"

A bright grin from her that suddenly shifts as her eyes and hair clips change.

"A challenge?" she asked, dancing back, suddenly holding a naginata. "Bring it on!"

Instantly wary he backs away, hands raised, muscles coiling to spring away or towards, as need demands.

"Lady Nadeshiko?"

[nadenagi]

She swept the Naginata through the air a few times, well away from him, Temari's eyes lit with the same stars of enthusiasm.

Then she blinked several times and the chara-change dropped. She flushed darkly and looked at the floor. "I'm sorry," she said softly. "That wasn't terribly lady like of me," she murmured, shoulders trembling as though she might start crying at any time.

There was an art to this level of control.

Erestor relaxes minutely when the weapon vanishes, although he remains wary.

"I suppose that would depend on your definition of 'ladylike' Lady Nadeshiko. I have known many an ellith - ah, a female elf - who was no less a lady for her skill with a blade. But... forgive my curiosity, but what just happened?"

[nadenagi]

She winced ever so slightly, then glanced up towards Temari, who was now trying to hide behind her hair. Trying, and failing.

"Chara-change," she said softly. "I... the who I wanted to be was someone soft, delicate, feminine, but who could still protect the people I care about..."

"Ah." He nods, understanding and relaxes all the way.

"An admirable wish. You are not the first, nor will you be the last. But as I said, I have known many an ellith no less ladylike for her skill with weaponry. I myself am long out of practice, but my good friend Glorfindel is here, if you wished to learn, that the skill be yours in truth. It is, in many ways, just another form of dancing, after all."

"I would love to learn," Nadeshiko said softly. "Thank you."

Erestor smiles fondly at her and promises. "Then I will bring you to him to ask. He is a gentle soul, is our Captain of the Guard, but there is no finer swordsman in all of Middle-earth, and there are few weapons he is not deadly with, as utterly dedicated to the protection of his own as he is."

[nadenagi]

"And I wont be any less... feminine or graceful for learning?" she asked softly.

[asinglebook]

"Most certainly not" Erestor says matter of factly. "My lady Celebrian is elegant and graceful, and every inch Imladris' Lady, and it was her mother, the Lady of the Golden Wood, who taught her how to use a blade, and she, in turn, who taught her daughter, the Lady Arwen, now Queen of Gondor and Arnor."

Dryly "Although in fairness, Glorfindel took over once Arwen had the basics down."

"I'm not sure I followed all of those names, but I would love to learn," Nadeshiko decided, smiling brightly. Temari clapped small kimono covered hands.

"I will introduce you" Erestor promises. "At least to those of us who are here. I am sure my lady and her mother will be pleased to meet you."

He shrugs wryly "And well, Glorfindel, that big golden idiot, he is always happy to meet everyone and anyone."

[nadenagi]

Nadeshiko beamed brightly, then darted forward to hug him. "I would love that, thank you!" she said happily, then seamed to realize she was hugging him, and skipped back and flushed lightly, looking contritely at her feet.

It was an art.

Erestor stiffens in startlement when hugged, and when she backs away he smooths his robes and smiles at her.

"No harm done." He assures her and nods. "It is no trouble, I assure you."

She gave a small smile, though she kept flushing.

"Should... we get back to dance practice?" Nadeshiko asked him quietly.

He smiles at her and nods.

"Very well, Nadeshiko - if that is what you wish."

[nadenagi]

"Is it what you wish too?" Nadeshiko asked him.
