Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.


Scenarios


1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

"I have seen some, recently, but there are no trees on Jakku." There was a lot on that she knew of, heard of, but that didn't actually exist on Jakku. It seemed like she was seeing more and more new things with every passing day. "Well, small spindly things, here and there I've been told, but none where I grew up. We built our own shade, if we could, or stayed in the lee of wreckage." Or in the belly of it.

She jerked her hand back, both confused by the lack of flesh and unwilling to get too close to anyone in such a strange place. She stepped back towards the buildings again, nearly molding herself to the wall. This person didn't look like anyone she'd ever seen before but she took the unusual appearance for a mask. Like a runner. It was a little comforting in familiarity. She took a deep breath, steadying herself.

Ruby City, they said. "Not Battery City, then." She tried to let that relax her. It didn't. "Do you know how far to the Zones?"

The child jerking away from her, that wasn't unexpected. And Toriel didn't let it bother her. Instead she just folded her hands in front of her and watched, giving her a little smile. She could at least try to bit a little comforting, something that maybe the girl needed.

"I do not know. I have never heard of the 'Zones' or of 'Battery City' before." The Surface must have changed much more than she realized. But then, it had been many many years since the war.

The mask was contorting into expressions and that was more than a little unnerving. If she was in a different time and place, she may have fled completely. But she needed information, needed help and it was more important to man up to find a way home than let instincts dictate override her.

"You don't know either." She parroted, lips pressing together grimly. She could have guessed, from the abundance of wildlife and the colors present through the streets that she wasn't even close to home. It still hurt to have it confirmed. "What...what do you know about this place?"

"I am sorry." And she was. Toriel was used to knowing a lot but the Surface had changed a great deal just here, and she'd spent years in a self-imposed exile. It made knowing much of anything difficult. Especially when finding oneself on another world and not realizing it.

"I only know the name and that we are on the Surface. Perhaps if we explore, we might learn more together?"

"Not your fault." She grumbled under her breath. The girl sighed, pulling her arms across her chest. Peeking up at the much taller creature from under her puff of curls, the girl considered the offer. The boy's paranoia has always been with good reason, and she can't be too trusting after everything with BLI.

But she was tired, and getting cold. "We'll stay out in the open?"

Sadly no goatmom though, just an elf and some rich kid with a demon butler

Poor thing. She couldn't stand seeing a child suffer, not from anything and especially not something she could help. Toriel took a step closer and knelt down, cupping her hands together and conjuring a ball of fire between them.

"We can if you like but first here, warm yourself, small one. I would hate for you to get sick." She'd lost a child to illness and while this one wasn't any of hers, she wasn't going to do nothing.

She jumped, just catching sight of the flash of flames and mind racing to the flare of a bomb. It took her a minute for her brain to catch up with what she was seeing and an another one for her heart to slow back down. "How the hell did you do that?"

She still stood away from the woman, eyes wide and awe in her tone. She did hold her her hands toward the flame, too greedy for warmth to back up too far. She didn't take her eyes of the fire, but she tilted her face up towards the woman in a silent gesture for her to talk.

"Shh, it is alright. I will not hurt you." Toriel spoke gently as the girl jumped, not moving closer, not directing the fire anywhere but her own palms. She never did aim to scare anyone, especially not children.

"It is magic. All monsters are capable of some kind of magic."

She still didn't come closer, but she did glance up at Toriel through her curls. She bit her lip, clearly warring with herself over something before clearing her throat to speak. "Monster? Like a-" She made claw hands and growled. "It's not a mask?"

He let's go of his raygun the moment her arms wrap around his, the free hand moving to rest on top of her head. Had she not claimed his arm he would have pulled her into a hug, and very well might in a few seconds.

"Been here just a bit, maybe a couple days. Did you just get here?" That seemed like the case. "You hurt? Jet isn't with you?"

Because the last thing he remembered before waking up on that train was shutting the door to give her and Jet Star cover.

She clings to him just a bit tighter, shaking her head against his arm. She doesn't want to think about Jet or what she'd seen happen to him, all of them. She couldn't wrap her head around how Ghoul was standing, but he was there and solid. She didn't want to complicate the relief by bringing up the deaths.

"Today," she spoke against his sleeve. "Just me."

The idea of hurt makes her pull away a little and rather reluctantly. She rakes her eyes over him, pressing a hand to his chest to just as much to try to feel out his heartbeat as it was to check for injuries. "What about you? I don't see nothin'. But." She looks up at him anxiously. "Tell me you're good, Ghoul."

You just pointed out one of the reasons, yourself.

[Remus rubs two fingers under one of his eyes, giving a small shake of his head. At least it's easier to explain this kind of thing to someone more accustomed to magic in the way that he is.]

The 'why' and 'how' of it are questions we're all still trying to find answers for.

He looks at her, and it's clear to him that he's not helping, in a situation where anyone with half a brain would be confused, concerned, and just plain scared. He remembers how it was for him - how it is for everybody. But it's always hard to try and explain to someone what just happened to them - even harder when it's someone you know and care for.

So his expression softens and he gives her a warm smile - maybe suspicious in itself, in this situation, but it really is a genuine attempt to calm her never.

"We're fine, lil' bunny. Shiny. S' gonna be okay, I promise."

Option 1: Train station:
[The underground didn't have trains. The closest he'd seen was that weird ferry with the hodded figure. But he'd never seen trains. He had a vauge idea that he'd heard about them, but if someone pointed to a picture of a cow and said "this is a train", Flowey would've probably rolled his eyes and assumed the other person a total moron.

Still, here he was. Near one of the exit platforms is a tall golden flower. Not a buttercup or a sunflower, but it could easily be mistaken for both considering its petals. Whoever gets closer will see a face blinking up at a poster as it reads. When he speaks, it's with his "mask" voice-- the cute, "I'm so innocent and cute that any theme park would be happy to have me as a mascot" voice. The one that gets idiots to lower their guard. The one that works.]

Ruby.. City.. Golly! Can't say I've ever heard of this place! [He looks around, all wide eyes and innocence.] Sure doesn't look like the Underground!

[Option 2: City streets]
[Luckily his transportation abilities still worked. He thought of moving and he'd move. It was different compared to the Underground but that was just because he didn't have the layout memorized yet. When he had that it wouldn't be a problem to get around the area quickly. As he popped up on one of the city streets, Flowey took a second to cope with the resulting head rush before glancing around He mutters to himself.] Let's see.. I don't need a house but there has to be somewhere I can settle in. Somewhere that's not too obvious but not too far from the main area.

[The flower slumps slightly and drags up a few tears as he sniffles. Trying his hardest to put the image out of being the equivilant of a scared newcomer although he's anything but, he gives a hiccuping cough.]

[O no. Look at this sad flower sprouting through the city at random. Maybe he would help it out.

Only two things impeded him in that, really.

1, he knew about this flower.

2, even if he didn't, he wasn't known for his chivalry, right? Hardly.

So, Sans approached the flower, his untied high tops sounding relatively quiet due to the lack of snow on the streets at the moment.]

Aww, look at the poor flower. Better get inside, buddy. It's cold outside.

[Something about that tone...wasn't quite as magnanimous as it sounded.]

You wouldn't wanna shrivel up, would'ya?

[ What is that thing. ]

[ Well. It's a flower, that much is obvious; Wednesday isn't ignorant, after all. But why does it have a face, is the most pressing matter. Is it one of those fairy tale creatures she read about in one of countless piles of literary rubbish? Honestly, she could do with the chirping birds and singing mice, but slaying a dragon or a beast of epic power over and over again to prove some moral standpoint was tiring, boring and oh so unpleasant. ]

[ Needless to say, the weeping act doesn't impress her. ]

Who kicked your vase?

[ Dry, unimpressed. Flowey, meet the short child in the black dress standing, arms crossed, just a couple of feet in front of you. ]

[Flowey blinked up at Sans. The mask fell for a second as his mouth drew back to show teeth while he sneered,] Planning on giving me your coat?

[The mask was back in place as quickly as it slipped.] I'll get inside when I figure out where I want to go. This..

[He looked back towards Sans.] This isn't the Underground, right? It's too.. too whatever-this-is. Besides, there's actually weather here.

[Flowey gives the girl a withering "Are you srs you cannot be srs" look.] Gee, I don't know! It was either whoever brought me here or some little girl in a black dress!

[His eyes light up when he realizes.] ..You're a human, aren't you?

[She smiles at the familiar gesture, knocking into him lightly with her shoulder.]

Boo. We just gonna stare at them? [She's only half pretending it's not exciting in itself. Still a kid, still curious about everything new.] Hey, C?

[HAHA. Yeah, no. This coat is his coat, bucko. And the toothy sneer didn't phase the skeleton either.

Of course, the questions Flowey asked were legit.]

Nah, I guess it's not. But hey, I'm not complaining. A little warmth will be great for my complexion.

[Yes. Because the winter here is so much different from eternal Snowdin cold right now.]

You call this warmth? [Flowey blinked. If he had eyebrows he'd be arching them.] Yeah okay. Wait-- how'd you get here?

Her grip falls loose in his, her eyebrow shoot high. She wants to trust what he's saying, but she deep down she doesn't. A side effect of the lifestyle. Nothing ever felt truly safe. Not without them. "Okay," she says again, softly. "No lies."

She looks at him, tries to smile in turn to soften her disbelief. To keep him from seeing how uncomfortable she was. "Is anyone else around?" It isn't a dislike for his company, she hopes he knows that. There were just other hands she wants to be holding, that would make her settle in her skin. She tightens her grip again in reassurance.

[Sans looks entirely nonchalant, even as he admits to to Flowey that...]

And I came off some train. I thought I'd chill a little longer on there than you, since I'm not in a rush to get places.
