Test Drive Meme!
That's right! A test drive meme! This meme serves several purpsoes!
- Test drive a new muse! -- If you are considering apping a new character to Ruby City, you can comment with them here to try their voice out. Others (currently played characters and other potential characters) can respond. The same deal as usual. Post ICly. Your character can be newly arrived, or you can treat the thread as though they've been in the city for a long while. It's up to you!
- Test drive DreamWidth! -- We realize DreamWidth is new, so feel free to jump in, even with your current RC characters to start a thread and get accustomed to how DreamWidth feels to RP on. But please remember, any interaction from this meme will not count towards in-game CR. What happens in memes stays in memes.
- Stop the withdrawal! -- We anticipate that the move will slow down posting between our announcement of moving and the opening of the DreamWidth communities. So if you need your fix of your RC characters, toss 'em here for fun and games.
Anne Boleyn | The Tudors
[She had expected to wake in her room in the Tower, on the last morning of her life. Instead, she wakes in a strange little room that seems to be moving. There's a window, and yes, she's moving. It's like a carriage, except... She can't explain it.]
This is some kind of dream, or delusion. Something to help me cope with what is about to happen to me. It cannot be real.
[So she treats it as a dream, leaving the strange conveyance and finding herself in what she knows is a city, but not like any real one she knows. But it's not real.]
Is this your last revenge on me, Henry? For not giving you the son we both longed for, for not being that little blonde wench you adore? You will drive me mad as well as have me executed, as well as bastardize our daughter?
[She laughs, a wild, broken sound, and falls to her knees. Dream or delusion, it does not ease her pain on this day. For it will fade, and she will still have to face the scaffold.]
I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
...Excuse me, Miss, but may I assist you in any way? [He attempts his best English, though he can't be for certain if she even speaks any language that he knows]
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
I... I don't understand, the Tower... I was to die today, Henry sentenced me to...
[No. She had to calm herself - she would not fall apart still further with a witness. So Anne took a deep breath and stood, her movements still carrying some her usual grace, learned in France and perfected as England's - Henry's - Queen.]
This place cannot be real, and yet I don't understand how my mind could invent such a strange delusion. Anything you can tell me would be appreciated.
(OOC: Can't edit here. so repost.)
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
This place...is hard to explain. Even I do not understand it, for I have only been here a month or so myself. I am afraid that it is far from a delusion, however.
[He offers her his coat; the cold hardly bothers him, after all]
Here, Miss, please take this. It is quite cold today.
This place is called Ruby City, and we are all captives here, brought from many different places.
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
Thank you, good sir. It's odd - it's May 19th, but I would swear it was the dead of winter...
[It actually seems to be so, here. How strange. And whatever he says, she is not yet convinced that it isn't a delusion, but if it is... It's strange, but anything is better than the cruel reality of her life. So she almost doesn't care.]
Ruby City? And, you say there are many people here? Do you know why?
[She glances around again, still trying to make sense of such an unfamiliar setting.]
Though a captivity here seems better than my own in the Tower of London. I was to be executed today; my own husband signed the warrant, and the charges... I'm sorry, I shouldn't say such things of the King.
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
As for why..I can't say. Our captors choose to remain anonymous, and their motives unknown. There are some who know who they are and why, but refuse to give us the information.
[Ah, he was right about execution, but when she mentions the Tower of London, Henry being not only her husband, but the King...he stops. Something in his mind is hardwired to handle royalty and imperials, and he immediately stiffens, a bit flustered]
Ah. You are Queen, forgive me, Your Majesty, I did not mean to show you any disrespect. [Even a condemned Queen demanded respect, especially from a nation, though he found it odd that a royal would be sent to die by her own husband]
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
[January. When Katherine died, when she lost her boy. But, no, she did not want to think of that.]
Well, whatever the reason, I for one have a cause to be grateful that I'm here, I suppose...
[She laughs bitterly when he calls her a queen and apologizes for disrespect.] Half of Europe thinks I'm just the King's whore, and he annulled our marriage, so technically I'm not really Queen anymore. I'm just Anne Boleyn, really.
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
Miss Boleyn, I will refer to you by whatever you wish me to. Here, you will find no King Henry, though I can't guarantee your stay will be as pleasant. You may call me Roderich.
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
Well, Roderich, just call me Anne, it's simpler. And I'm sure anything is better than being hours from the scaffold.
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
Well, then, Miss Anne, royalty to not, a lady still deserves respect, and a warm place to stay. It's not much, but I live in a theatre not far from here. If you would like to follow me, I can give you something warm to drink, or something to eat, and attempt to explain this madness to you further.
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
Thank you, I'd like that. This is all quite... baffling.
Re: I hope you don't mind a familiar face~
Miss Anne, if you would follow me. The theatre is not far from here, but I must warn you. There are many things that you will see that you will be...unaccustomed to. Here, there are many technologies and the like that you will be unfamiliar with, and I do not want to startle you.
