First-First, regarding the event: You all did SUCH a great job, and this event was a real hit! Please give your thanks to
Second-Mod for heading the efforts for the booths. Remember, booth-things that have already started will be continued into the week! Scavenger hunt things involving
Wrath, Greed, Pride, Lust, or Ikaros can be handwaved. Remember, you have until Wednesday to finish your Scavenger hunts!
Second-First, (or rather, on topic with this announcement) I'd like to elaborate on something, because I feel like we may have been a little vague at first. I'm addressing you personally because in the future, I will almost never be making Mod posts for the community, unless they are plot related! In fact, I don't do much of anything on the administrative side at all.
So, just so you all remember, I'm only acting as Ruby City's
Creative Director. What does that mean? Well, it means that all of those shiny little plot things you're getting are a result of the work myself and my creative team have put into the game. In fact, together, we've devised an entirely new story connected to RC's history to engage you.
This means that any
administrative questions should be differed to
Fiona, Kitten, or Second. I won't be able to answer any of your application or game related questions; I can only elaborate on plot and game mechanics!
With that out of the way, I'd like to move on to a very special announcement. As you all have noticed, new NPCs and a new character have entered the city to interact. These are all a part of a cast of 15 members, including the 7 you know and love, that create the updated story of Ruby City.
Now that our new plot is underway, I'd like to present to you a new premise for the city-- but first, I'd like to clear things up about it! (I know, I'm talking a lot. I promise it's worth it!)
First of all,
the premise will be updated periodically as new portions of the story are uncovered. You won't miss any premise updates, because I'll be announcing them publicly and linking you to where you can read them each time a new chapter in our story is unlocked.
Don't worry; mini plots, player plots, and other such things won't be pushed out of the way! If there's something you'd really like to incorporate, we'd all love for you to let the mod-team know. We want to incorporate your ideas and our current plot is the perfect opportunity to do so.
Without further ado, I'd like to present the new, ever-unfolding premise of Ruby City!
An island in the center of an unknown body of water is all that the landmass on which Ruby City lays would appear to be at first sight. Of course, things are not nearly so simple.
Once a Victorian-style metropolis, for a long while, Ruby City was at peace. Though history remains unclear, arrivals over the years have discovered two things: at some point, a pair called The Watcher and The Interloper inherited the city, and the city did not fare well under their rule. Evidence of these hardships litter the city; the rubble of a wall at the city's perimeter has never been repaired,
Luckily for those who reside here, the Watcher and the Interloper have long since been entrapped within the city's center, never to reign again. However, their interference had long lasting effects; seven guardians, or 'Overseers', were created to manage the city, and something within the city itself awoke.
For some time, the city seemed to plateau, as though it were asleep. The dangers of the city only scratched the surface, and the mysteries beneath it lay dormant.
With what seemed to the residents like little provocation, however; a new group of so-called Overseers began to appear alongside a red-haired, dark-skinned child by the name of Ikaros Kinnabari. Ikaros told residents that he was the city, and referred to the new Overseers by the names of the deadly sins.
Still more mysteries await the residents: Why is the city appearing to be a human? Who or what are the old and new overseers, and what influence do they have on the city?
The future and shape of the city lays in the balance; join the city as it grows and evolves, and strive to solve the mysteries under the city's surface.
In the coming year, events and other game mechanics will begin to change and reflect the secrets players and characters will discover through the unfolding story. Please stay tuned to premise and Game Mechanic updates to fully enjoy a more interactive City experience!
