G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.


5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.


6. The Coffee Joint: Run by James Potter and Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.


7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.


2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.


3. Inclimate weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?

[She scowls.]

...That definitely sucks. That's the worst type of Master.

So how did he end your battle? Mock the other Master to death?

There were several servants and masters around during our last battle. He forced me via command spell to attack someone dishonorably. The other servants said they would work together to kill me if he did not pull me back and withdrawal since they would have rather seen me dead than further dishonored. Rider was one of those who were there. I think you can understand why he would react in such a way.

So to answer your question. How do our battles end? We run.

[Diarmuid shakes his head and returns her scowl with one of his own.]

I hate running.

Coward.

[She falls silent for a moment. The word isn't enough to describe the utter disdain she's feeling for that Master.]

Asshole.

[Now that feels right.]

What right does he had to contend for the glory of the Grail?

[Diarmuid can't help but smile slightly. He agrees with her opinions, but his honor and loyalty keep him from saying that out loud. He has tread the line of disloyalty too closely already today.]

As I said before, I do not believe he has the right to, but I am starting to suspect this war of theirs is less about who has the right and more about who has the power.

He has no right. Nor does he have power. If he did he would display it.

[Diarmuid shrugs.]

He believes himself powerful and words and belief are a power of their own. Different from physical strength, but still a power.

[She snorts.]

More like the power of self-delusion.

[A slight smirk curls the corner of Diarmuid's mouth.]

Well, I was never specific about what kind of power those words and beliefs gave...

...A good thing he is not here alongside you. Or is he?

He is not as far as I can tell.

[Diarmuid shuts his eyes and reaches out for where the bond to his master should be. As before when he had searched, he finds nothing.]

I am not sure what magic is keeping me alive now, but it is certainly nothing connected to him.

Neither is mine. But you already know because he is not at my side.

[Her Master had the guts to stand beside his Servant.]

This is a strange place. Apparently we Servants are allowed exist without being obligated to any magi.

Yes, it is very strange. It makes me wonder and perhaps worry a bit as well. Whatever runs this place must have a great deal of power if it can change things like master and servant contracts and pull us all here as it has.

[He pauses, frowning slightly.]

I don't know if I like owning so much to something that powerful. Not when I know so little about it.

[It is tempting, so very tempting, to relax and try to enjoy the city when prana is not a worry. Diarmuid's words remind her why she shouldn't be too quick to loosen her guard.]

The rulers are powerful indeed, which is why they must be taught what a mistake it was to leave the Heroic Spirits with their powers intact and prana to last them perpetually.

[Diarmuid doesn't respond to her right away. He expects that many people would agree with her. That those in change should be forced to answer for what they have done.

Unfortunately, he can't agree with her.]

It might be tempting to many to do that, but we have to be responsible. We have no idea if our actions would hurt others. Might the administrators take the fight to those who cannot protect themselves like we can? We have no reason to believe they would only attack us especially if we are a threat to them.

Also, what if there are people who want to stay here? Who have nothing waiting for them if they go back? Do we have the right to take that from them?

You yourself said the people who govern this place are horribly strong. Why would anyone wish to live here?

[oathshackledbird]

Perhaps they have found friends and family here? Perhaps they have chances and freedom here they didn't have back home?

[He doesn't seem to realize that his voice is raising as he talks.]

Or perhaps they just want a chance to avoid being erased from existence? Are those good enough reasons?

[She can notice his voice rising.]

So you wish to stay here to stave off death.

[Her face curves into a cruel smirk.]

And you call yourself the best warrior in your land.

[Diarmuid's eyes narrow and his voice becomes harsh as the rage that he is only just starting to know bubbles to the surface.]

You were not there! You have no idea what happened. Assume you have the right to judge me again, and I will show you just how mistaken you are!

...And now you're just yelping and whimpering.

[She makes a dismissive motion with her hand.]

Can you? You, a man who fears death so much he would take a coward's way out?

I did no such thing!

[His voice is a snarl.]

I was fighting King Arthur! It was a battle I had ever intention and every chance of winning. If nothing else we would have fallen together and I would have died bringing my master that much closer to what he wished! Instead, my master chose to run yet again and forced me to kill myself right in the middle of that battle!

I am no coward. It is he who was the coward. I only wish the chance to serve a worthwhile master! If death is the result that is fine, but I do not wish to go out like that! There must be more!

Against...King Arthur?

[Her Father...is that how he had known her face? She is distracted as she hears the rest of his rant. It incites her to rage and pity and frustration.]

Fool.

[That is all she can say, given her jumble of feelings.]

You would throw yourself into that mess all over again? Die fighting for another person's desires?

Yes, I would! I am a knight. It is my duty and my honor to help others, but if you think that I think so little of myself that I would be satisfied with a death like I just suffered in the war than you are wrong!

[Diarmuid gives he a steady and confident look.]

That is why I want to stay here. It has nothing to do with cowardice and everything to do with making sure I do everything possible and use every skill I have before I leave the world again! I do the world a dishonor if I do not!

[She has to swallow down her embarrassment.]

I was wrong in my original assessment. You're a dumbass, but that spirit of yours is certainly praiseworthy.

[Diarmuid is quiet for a few moments letting his anger be reduced by her 'apology.' When he speaks, his voice is calmer, though still somewhat tense.]

I will accept that. You are not the first to see my loyal nature and hear my beliefs who has called me an idiot or dumb for having them. If words like that bothered me, then I really would be the coward you just tried to name me.

What are you, if not a fool, if you continue to follow an idea that has failed you? I'd expect those words from a man who hasn't be betrayed. Not you.
