NOV. TEST DRIVE

G'day, Ruby City!
Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- Choose a location and prompt or wait for someone else to tag.
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations:
- Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.
- Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?
- The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!
- The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.
- The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.
- The Coffee Joint: A lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.
- Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.
Scenarios
- Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.
- Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.
- Bad weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?
- Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!
Have fun, guys!

[ Before he knows what he's doing, he reaches towards the man and lays a hand on his shoulder. Something about him is intriguing, and he knows things that are more than probably useful information. There's a pause as Dick wracks his brain for something to say and internally curses his impulsivity. He just has so many questions. ]
Who calls the shots. . . and how long have you been here, anyway?
no subject
[ The answer is clipped as Jason shrugs his shoulder out of Dick's hold. Please, no touching. ]
A couple months, at least.
[ This was a spectacularly bad idea. ]
no subject
[ Dick puts a little more space between them and sits on the railing. He's not sure what he's supposed to think and much less does he know what he's supposed to do. ]
Let me get this straight. We're all here against our will, held by god knows who, for reasons unknown. It just doesn't make sense.
no subject
Lots of things don't make sense, this ain't that special. Like costumed vigilantes. And here I thought you guys only existed in floppies.
[ Or at least, that's where he'd been told he was from. Batman was a comic book character, who knew. ]
no subject
[ He huffs. ]
Hell, costumes are basically all that I know.
So, where were you pulled from?
no subject
He was actually offended. His eyes narrowed. Okay, prepared or not, he was doing this. ]
Gotham City.
no subject
Then perhaps you know who I am already, then.
no subject
Who the hell wouldn't know who you are? Everybody knows Nightwing.
[ He circles a little, like a predator. ]
How's Bludhaven? Still a little crispy around the edges, or have you not gotten to that part yet?
no subject
The last I remember, before this, I was - I.
[ Clearing his throat, he tries again. His voice cracks again anyway. ]
I was doing what I could.
Who are you? It seems to me a little unfair that I don't know anything about you.
no subject
[ Jason smiles, sharp and raw. Placing a hand on his chest in his act of false cheer. ]
I'd hate to ruin the surprise.
no subject
I'm not sure I like surprises.
[ Although, He's pretty sure he has no choice. ]
no subject
[ Jason draws his knife. ]
You might just like this one.
[ But he doubts it. ]
no subject
What I'd like at this moment is some answers.
[ Dick's reflexes have his escrima sticks out before he can even think about them. His mind is busy racing with even more questions. Why is this man attacking him? Dick is pretty sure he's been singled out, but he doesn't recognize the man at all. ]
Who the hell are you?
no subject
[ At this point, Jason's smirk is practically feral. He flips the knife around in his hand, not yet attacking. In fact, it almost looks like he's playing. ]
I'm supposed to be 6 feet under. Guess we can't always get what we want, hm?
[ Almost. After all, Jason was never very good at play. Always took it too personal. ]
no subject
Jason?!
[ Dick's shoulders immediately slump, but his eyes don't leave Jason's face. He wants to close the space between them, but unfortunately there's a knife between them so he keeps his feet planted.
He opens his mouth as if he wants to say something, but doesn't know what to say. It's not easy for him to process the situation properly. His brain and his emotions are currently overloaded. ]
no subject
Surprise! Got it in one. Maybe you were trained by the world's greatest detective after all.
[ Jason is morbidly curious to see how Dick would respond. So far, not enough of a reaction in his opinion. ]
no subject
Dick isn't sure if he believes in a heaven or a hell, but what ifs are always a possibilty. . . As far as he knows, this could be some ridiculous afterlife, which would explain the dead man standing in front of him. The last thing he remembers is dragging bodies out of Blüdhaven's fallout and he could have easily succumbed to it himself.]
How. . . ? Are we dead?
no subject
Dick, use your head for something that isn't looking pretty.
[ Jason motions to himself. ]
Is this the body of a dumb 15 year old?
no subject
Well, no. I just. . .
[ He isn't going to say that he hoped he'd die in Blüdhaven out loud. It was in his head that he'd help his city as much as he could and then just peace out. A little part of him was disappointed. ]
Given some circumstances, it could be a logical conclusion. I don't know. You've been here longer than I have, you've gotta have a better idea than I do.
no subject
[ God, get with the program, Dick! ]
The story is not going to change, we are not dead, and even if we were the city brings people back.
It's fucked up.
no subject
[ He reaches out towards Jason, but doesn't make contact - just holds his hand near to his chest. ]
. . . alive?
no subject
Fuck if I know. One day I'm dead, the next I'm waking up in a coffin.
[ He's still pretty fucked up about that, actually. ]
no subject
[ Dick has a strong urge to touch, for proof that this was real, confirmation that he hasn't simply gone crazy. But it's obvious contact is unwanted and he balls his hand into a fist, bringing it back to his own chest.
He doesn't know how to feel, and so he's basically just feeling everything at once. ]
Bruce broke down because of you, you know. We all did.
no subject
God, he'd probably kill someone. ]
Not enough to do the right thing! Not enough to get rid of that fucking trash.
no subject
[ Both of his hands are in fists now, at his sides. He can see the pain in Jason's body, and empathetically feels it in his own. It kind of pains him that a hug is not an option here; it's how he processes things and the only way he knows how to soothe others. They've both been through a lot and Dick only wishes he knew Jason's half. ]
Even now, he's not the same.
[ "And neither am I," he leaves out. ]
