*He scrambles away from the dumpster on all fours. He's the size and rough shape of a human, but his skin is dark purple, except for his goat-like legs covered in black fur and the black bat wings with a matching devil's tail. Each of his elbow has a spike sticking out of it and his large, almost childlike, eyes are glowing brightly and wide with fear. He growls something in some demonic language, but his voice is tense rather than angry.*

[The teenager smirks. Look at what he found.]

Well look at you, crawling out of the woodwork all over these days, aren't you? Lucky for you I'm not busy, so I guess I've got a little time to play with you.

[That smirk turns positively vicious as he twirls his gun idly.]

Well, what are you waiting for?

*He can't understand a word of this, but he knows a threat when he sees it. He stands up on two legs, baring his fangs and flaring his wings even as his tail tucks between his legs and he backs away, glancing around for a way to escape. Not enough wind in this alley to fly and he hasn't mastered magic well enough to use that for a boost. And he can't climb fast enough to escape...maybe he can negotiate? Telepathically, he reaches out to try to tap into the other demon's language center to at least be able to communicate with him.*

You don't want to eat me...

[Briefly his eyes widen in surprise, he hasn't really heard any demons speak to him in his mind before (yet). Can't say that he likes it too much. The surprise is quickly masked behind a fierce glare, eyes narrowed and his own teeth bared in a near-snarl.]

Nice trick, but I'm not buying it. Eat you? You've got to be kidding.

*It doesn't take long for him to learn English well enough to speak out loud, flapping his wings in an attempt to look more intimidating.*

Right, it's a dumb idea. My master, he wouldn't be happy if you ate me. No demon wants to steal from him.

Look at that, I knew you could talk. Playing coy with me isn't very polite you know. Your master you say?

[Maybe he'll just pin this one down and twist the sword in a bit until he gets some answers, then. That might be more fun than this pleading whelp.]

And just who might that be?

[Dante please put the scary face away.]

*He catches sight of a fire escape and jumps up to it, climbing over the rail to claim the high ground...for what good it does.*

I needed to learn the language first.

*He crouches down, changing tactics now that he has distance and trying to make himself as small a target as possible.*

My master, my father...Lord Chronos. I'm his, he'll be mad if you kill me. Even if he'll already be mad at me for getting lost...he'll be madder if you take from him!

[Making a break for it, huh? It doesn't do much good, as Dante promptly jump kicks off the wall to land on the fire escape ledge with the little demon. You might be able to fly, but Dante's quick on his feet. Keep running, that just makes the hunt more fun.]

Chronos? Never heard of him. Sounds like a loser if you ask me, especially with such a cowardly little minion.

[He pokes vaguely at Alastor with his gun, finger not even on the trigger anymore. Honestly you're pathetic and he almost feels bad picking at you. But a demon's a demon, and he's a devil hunter. It's nothing personal, except yes it is.]

So you're, what, picking up the flowers for his banquet? Getting a father's day card? Gonna get him a nice tie, maybe?

I'm young, still learning. I know when I'm out of my league. But he's powerful. No demon challenges him and lives.

*He backs up again, baring his teeth and swiping at the gun with his claws. Not that they're hard enough to rend metal at this point, he's probably just going to end up dulling them.*

I said I'm lost. I'm not supposed to be here. But...but take me back to his palace, and he might reward you for finding me.

Great, I go looking for a good time and they send me a kid? What the hell is this.

[Dante pulls back anyway, not feeling particularly like dealing with cat scratches on his gloves, thank you very much. You're not even worth his time, runt. He just kind of gives the demon a flat look, propping his gun up on his shoulder.]

Man. What kind of demon are you, anyway? This is pathetic.

[The pathetically lost kind, apparently.]

Take you back? Pfeh, like hell I'd want a reward from a devil.

*He starts breathing more heavily, panic setting in. He can't win, he can't escape, he can't barter...he's dead, isn't he? He bumps into the rail behind him, wings arched up as he eyes the next level of the fire escape. Does he have a chance?*

I know I'm weak, but you still don't want to kill me. There are things you can eat without stealing from Lord Chronos.

[Okaaayy... he's seen demons back down, even whimper, but this one looks like he's about to have a full on panic attack. That's new, and kind of surprising, what the hell?

Oh, and then he moves again, but this time Dante just stays put, regarding him with a disinterested sort of expression. Suddenly he really can't bring himself to kill this one, even though he knows he should. A demon's a demon, right?]

Didn't I already tell you I wasn't going to eat you?

[He sighs, exasperated. No. He can't do it. God damn it all it's just a kid.]

Go on, get lost. I just remembered I'm late for something.

[Bull shit you are you're just making an excuse to let him go.]

*He jumps and scrambles up to the next floor in front of the ladder, then lurks there with just his eyes peeking through the hole. He's watching, wary. What's the trick? This guy could kill him in a matter of seconds, it wouldn't make him any later than he already is...*

[He lingers a moment longer, before making an indignant 'hnph' sound and hopping back down to street level, holstering his gun.

The night's still young, surely the real demons are out somewhere, right?

And no he actually doesn't have anywhere to be, he just couldn't shoot someone cowering like that.

It felt kind of dirty.]

*Once Dante's that far away, he feels safe to speak up again, now peeking over the side of the ledge.*

W-wait! If you're letting me live...um...is there anything I can offer for you to tell me where I am?

[oncedevil]

[He stops again and only turns enough to look at the demon past his shoulder.]

You've gotta be kidding me.

[Really. Please say you are. Please? No? Dante just kind of stares flatly like Alastor's completely insane. Maybe he is.]

You're in the human world, goat-boy. Try not to make a mess of things, huh?

The human world?

*Eep! His eyes go wide again and he flattens himself against the floor.*

I shouldn't...this is too far from the palace. Where's the nearest pathway...?

[He puts his hands on his hips and just kind of stares at the weirdo clinging to the fire escape. Are you for real?]

How the hell am I supposed to know? Shouldn't you be the one who knows the answer to that?

I told you, I'm lost. I don't know how I got here.

[oncedevil]

You keep saying that, but how the hell does a demon get this lost?

[He was pretty sure the demon world was sealed up fairly tight, making 'accidental' breaches nearly impossible? Certainly this kid couldn't have gotten out on his own intentionally. Not unless he's a really good actor, and he's never met a devil that keeps up an act this long.

Another exasperated sigh. He's got things to do, man!]

Whatever, I don't know how you got out or how you'll get back, dude. Not my problem.

I don't know.

*His tail waves above him, tense.*

Probably a trick, to make Lord Chronos think I've disobeyed him. Then he'll eat me and won't know he's been attacked.

Well, he's not gonna find you up here. Door's shut, key's tossed out. Don't pass go, don't collect $200.

[Shrug.]

The gate's...locked? Then I'm safe here? Um...mostly.

*Eyeing the hilt of Rebellion warily...*

I guess you could say that.

[Safe enough, and don't worry Rebellion's sleeping. Rebellion doesn't care about you. Dante's still going to give you the suspicious eye, though.]
