You keep saying that, but how the hell does a demon get this lost?

[He was pretty sure the demon world was sealed up fairly tight, making 'accidental' breaches nearly impossible? Certainly this kid couldn't have gotten out on his own intentionally. Not unless he's a really good actor, and he's never met a devil that keeps up an act this long.

Another exasperated sigh. He's got things to do, man!]

Whatever, I don't know how you got out or how you'll get back, dude. Not my problem.

*His tail waves above him, tense.*

Probably a trick, to make Lord Chronos think I've disobeyed him. Then he'll eat me and won't know he's been attacked.

Well, he's not gonna find you up here. Door's shut, key's tossed out. Don't pass go, don't collect $200.

The gate's...locked? Then I'm safe here? Um...mostly.

*Eyeing the hilt of Rebellion warily...*

[Safe enough, and don't worry Rebellion's sleeping. Rebellion doesn't care about you. Dante's still going to give you the suspicious eye, though.]

*It's still a big magical sword being wielded by someone who shot at him.*

What does this world have that I can get away with eating?

*Priority number one is always a full stomach.*

[You startled him. Though you have to wonder how a 'human' is wielding a magic sword, don't you?]

I don't know, animals I guess? I'd head out to the desert if I were you, no one's gonna bug you there.

[But if he hears about you going after humans...]

This is a dry area?

Yeah? What, you're going to complain about the weather now?

[He can't take you seriously anymore goat devil.

But there's something else creeping up that would be happy to change the tone of the conversation. A couple Enigmas have gathered around the roof tops and were beginning to spin up some arrows while the two talked.

Alastor wasn't the target of this impending barrage though, it's his strange red-clad acquaintance there. His shoot first ask questions later attitude make a little more sense now?]

*Of course, from Alastor's vantage point, he can easily see the Enigmas. He stands up, sparking with purple electricity...and then suddenly shoots a bolt of lightning from each hand, aimed right at the archers.*

I'm a lightning demon. I like storms.

[Oh shit what is he--!?

Dante ducks down, bracing for impact from the lightning, only for it to go soaring above his head shattering the archers' shots as they fell. Well, most of them. A few made it through but those landed harmlessly around Dante. He spared Alastor a wary glance before leaping into action, using the narrow alley to his advantage, the walls acting as springboards to reach the roof in no time.

More beams tore through his coat, but mostly missed as he charged in with Rebellion to start cutting the things down.

So that's where they were hiding!]

*By the time the Enigmas fall, Alastor has climbed up to the rooftops and is perching on the edge of one roof with his wings spread. Here he feels more comfortable. He has the advantage of height and enough wind to take to the skies if he feels threatened. But he doesn't take off just yet, instead watching in fascination at the way Dante handles his weapon.*

[Much like an extension of himself, even though the blade is dormant, definitely nothing traditional about his swordplay. This teenager just seemed to do whatever came to mind at the time, and it worked well enough for him. It didn't take long to cut the Enigmas down, he just had to break through their defenses first.

A few scrapes and a lot of bullets later, they're all dealt with and Dante's spinning his sword while he idly scans for another ambush.

Content that it isn't coming he starts to back towards Alastor, still keeping an eye out for other threats instead of the demon he had been treating like a threat.]

...I guess I owe you one.

[You didn't have to cover him...]

*He shakes his head, also on the lookout for other threats. He even sniffs the air to see if he can smell something coming.*

You gave me advice. We're even now.

[oncedevil]

[Another uncertain look, but he'll take it. He'd rather not be in debt to a devil, harmless as this one seems to be...]

[So unsure. Alright well, you haven't been so bad so far...]

Come on, mister lightning devil, this way.

[And without any proper explanation he's off, bouncing over rooftops. Surely you can keep up with those wings of yours, right?]

*He can keep up fine, soaring over the rooftops with ease and grace that put his clumsy attempts at climbing to shame.*

Where to?

You're hungry aren't you?

[Ah, definitely not a land-dweller. Well, you haven't seen anything until you've seen a lightning storm in the desert. And here you thought dry areas were bad.

You just have to wait for monsoon season to really enjoy it is all.]

*He's a winged lightning demon, of course he's better in the sky.*

Yeah...you said to look outside the city, right?

[oncedevil]

[You say this like he's met much in the way of variety? That will change before long, of course, but for now he's fairly unversed in demons.]

That's where we're goin'.

[Just follow. Although once the buildings run out he's stuck to walking again. He could run, sure, but it's less fun without buildings.]

[Don't say it like he's doing something nice because he's totally not. He's just making up for you saving his hide. And besides, he thought you were going to kill him, too.]

Not far now.

[Past a few ugly warehouses and whatnot, and bam... desolate and ugly. But there's food out there somewhere, you just have to really look for it.]

*He lands and sniffs the air, looking for the scent of anything that could be prey.*

The wind's good, at least.

[He looks up at the sky, squinting at the moon, then gives a shrug. He wouldn't know?]

Is it? Well, out in those bluffs I'd imagine there'd be something. Don't ask me what, I don't have any idea.

[But he's just going to sit here and wait for you to do whatever you're going to do, because he's got nothing better to do despite his lies earlier.]

*He sniffs for a few moments longer, then bares his teeth in an excited grin and takes off to the sky and out of sight...*
