[January] Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:
  • Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.

  • Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

  • If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.

  • Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.

Locations

1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.

Scenarios

1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

Severus Snape | Harry Potter | Multi-prompts

[1.1]
The fact he was capable of waking up was surprising enough to briefly eclipse the fact that where he woke up was not the building in which he died. Sitting up, one hand immediately sought to touch his neck despite the lack of pain that his memories told him should be present. It left him wondering if perhaps this might be some strange form of an afterlife. There was one obviously, perhaps this was merely the form it had taken for him.

When the train came to a halt and he stepped off the train, that notion was disabused. He walked over to where one of the poster's hung and wondered just what in the world was going on here as he read it.

[6.2]
[He manages to find what appeared to be a cafe, and after acquiring a cup of tea from the person behind the counter, he settles at one of the tables off to the side, out of the way, yet with a decent window view. Time to turn his attention to the strange watch he'd been given upon arrival.

He took a couple minutes to familiarize himself with the controls before actually using the device.]

Who can tell me just why and how I've arrived here in this... Ruby City?

[He'd like to know just what is in store for him here, surely he had to be saved from death for something. The question is if that something is good or bad for his continued well-being. Mentally or physically.]

Amelia had been waiting at the station, as she often did, in case the Raggedy Doctor arrived. She looked up when the man stepped off the train, and she took in his outfit, and his hair. She got off of her seat, and dragging her suitcase walked over to him.

"Are you an undertaker?" she asked, peering up at the man. He was tall, whatever he was.

She glanced away from the poster to the other newcomer, suddenly glad that her keyblade was to hand. Something about him reminded her of danger. She wasn't sure why, and she wasn't the sort to attack without provocation. But it helped to be prepared, and calling in her Keyblade in front of him would have marked her as a Mutant, even more reliably than the X badge on her uniform or her blue hair.

Since the city sought to only bring in new arrivals on the weekend, Henry only hung out at the train station on the weekend. With the amount of cool people who had appeared, there was always the possibility that more could arrive. Including those from Henry's own home world. Sadly, that latter wasn't the case today. But it was someone he recognised somewhat.

Severus Snape was slightly smaller in the flesh than in the movies but Henry attributed that towards Alan Rickman being slightly too tall for the character. He was, however, still quite an impressive man. And Henry had to remember his abilities at a time like this. He kept himself on guard, ready to defend himself with his Keyblade or apparate elsewhere if needed.

Then he called out to him, trying to look non-threatening. He was only a fourteen year old boy after all. But then again, he'd done quite a lot in the past few years. As had Harry Potter at that age.

"Hi. You must be new. I'm Henry. If you want, I could answer some of the questions you no doubt have." He was glad he left Mister Spots in the house. He would have wanted to say his own hello.

Snape turned at the greeting, silently observing the boy. Given the manner of dress it was entirely possible the lad was a muggle, but best not to make such snap judgments until he knew more. He left the wall to walk toward Henry, coming to a halt just beyond arms reach.

"Yes... I would appreciate that. Perhaps you can tell me how it is I've come to end up here and why?"

In Snape's world's terms, yes, Henry was a muggle. But he didn't not have magic. Not that Snape knew that and Henry wasn't planning on showing it yet. He was here to helpful. And curious. Mostly curious.

"The best way to explain it is a polite kidnapping. There's these people here who take you from wherever you were before you ended up on the train and bring you here. I'm not entirely sure why but it's not as bad as it looks. Eventually, they send you back to exactly the point in time in which you came from but without your memories of being here." Not the best explanation but really, the how and why of it all is really confusing.

Lovely. Given that the only thing he had to go back to was death, that left him little incentive to desire a return home. Though no doubt those responsible would realize that and thus would provide incentive to do whatever they wished via letting him remain.

"I see." The tone the words were delivered in was such it was obvious the statement was more of an acknowledgement of the explanation than anything else. He didn't understand how he'd arrived, nor why, but if the boy was to be believed, he was here until the responsible parties chose to send him back.

"Just who are these people doing the...kidnapping?"

[personal profile] truestsweeper 2016-01-12 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Henry gave a shrug at that. "There's quite a few. I think I've met two of them." For once, he wasn't interested. He was torn between going and staying for different reasons and while talking to Chari was usually nice, that couldn't be said for all of them. For every Snow White, you had a Zelena or Pan after all.

"Try a different question?" He offered.
sternrebuke: (pic#9900199)

[personal profile] sternrebuke 2016-01-13 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
"Then tell me of the two you have met." He replied, unwilling just yet to let this particular line of questioning go without some further answer.
truestsweeper: (S4 - Lightbulb moment)

[personal profile] truestsweeper 2016-01-13 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
"That's technically not a question." Henry couldn't help but reply. It was more of an order and Henry didn't like being ordered around, even by his family.

He didn't care for the cheeky answer. The subtle frown and the slight narrowing of his eyes quietly revealed his displeasure.

"Correct. It was a request. Now are you going to tell me of them or not?"

Henry simply rolled his eyes. Why did adults assume that age was everything? He was half tempted to ask what was in it for him, but since he'd come here to be helpful, he decided to just lay out the terms of the deal.

"How about you give me your name and then I'll tell you. I've already given you mine." Henry might have been cheeky, but Snape was being downright rude.

That earned a slight eyebrow rise and for a minute an observer might have thought the older man was disinclined to continue the conversation due to the silence that had descended between him and Henry.

Then the man finally spoke again and broke it. "Severus Snape."

It was just a confirmation of what Henry had expected so he gave no reaction apart from his own reply. "Nice to meet you."

Then he gave a brief description of the two he'd met as requested. "I met Chari for the first time last year. She's really nice and kind and gives out Christmas presents. Alexa is just a typical teenager. She enjoyed looking at my comics and meeting my dog." There wasn't much else two them. He hadn't seen Alexa since, and had only seen Chari again when Christmas was close.

Just the same way as everyone else, I'd suppose. You should know better than to click your heels when you're wearing red shoes, Dorothy.

[There's an easy smile on the blonde's face, amiable if it weren't for the faint hint of mockery in her tone. She saunters over lazily, making a big show of tucking away her watch.]

May I? [She nods at the chair across from him, but doesn't wait for a reply before she slides onto it.]

[He feels the small hairs on the back of his neck rise up the instant he hears that voice. There's no way to mistake it, not in any scenario, and it's with a small twist of his stomach that he reaches for his watch and answers.]

.. Severus.

[Merlin, he shouldn't feel so anxious about this.]

That's a more complicated question than you might think.

Remus.

[Give him a moment, it's not every day one is greeted by a teenager from the past. At least it is Lupin. Out of that particular bunch he'd rather have to deal with him than either Potter or Black.]

You're looking rather ...young. By all means, please explain why it is so complicated.

You just pointed out one of the reasons, yourself.

[Remus rubs two fingers under one of his eyes, giving a small shake of his head. At least it's easier to explain this kind of thing to someone more accustomed to magic in the way that he is.]

The 'why' and 'how' of it are questions we're all still trying to find answers for.
