[January] Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!

3.6 - Version 2
1.1 1/2
[Guess who was nearby and saw you do the thing with the helmet]
Sofia-chan!! You have a techno-awesome helmet!!!
... more importantly, you're back!
2/2
[ANd she's running in for a hug. Did she ever hug Sofia? Who cares, she's doing it now]
no subject
Oof-
[Sofia laughs wryly once Ibuki wrapped her arms around Sofia's armored self. Good thing it's not actually made of metal, or it would be really cold. Sofia gives Ibuki a pat on the shoulder]
Yes, I am. This is the third time this city took me from my timeline... How long has it been, Ibuki?
no subject
Three times, huh? This is still Ibuki's first time! It's been... woww, it's been like forever! Since May! And now it's January!! Too long!!
no subject
[Sofia wasn't sure what to do after the pat on the shoulder, so she glances around with a puzzled expression and sneaks some pats on Ibuki some more. Not that she minds. She really did miss Ibuki's energetic personality, and she's glad to see her again]
But that is quite a while. So many months have passed by here but it felt like yesterday since I was here last. I don't even see anything that has changed... What happened while I was away? Tell me everything on the way to some shelter. I don't want you to freeze out here.
no subject
[She releases her hug on Sofia finally, but goes for her hand to drag her along to the nearest shelter]
Ibuki got turned into a little kid, and people kept disappearing but other people appeared, and Ibuki was forced into a crappy wonderland full of crappy stuff, and pokemons showed up but there weren't enough around to catch 'em all, and a big monster flattened Ibuki's house but then a tiny magical girl fixed it!
And Ibuki got married to a landshark and a nurse!!
[...]
no subject
Sofia listened to Ibuki summarize what happened the past few months, not too fazed by all the strange events that took place until Ibuki mentioned getting married, to something that made her frown and lit a brow]
A... landshark? And how did you get married?
[Her instincts as a big sister kicked in when she hears Ibuki getting hitched, and she wasn't sure she'd approve of it so far. Not until she knows more about this nurse and this landshark]
no subject
Also, landshark is actually a dude with pointy shark teeth.
no subject
[Sofia's still not sure what to think of it, but she'll just leave it alone. She doesn't really want to get into the politics of what's acceptable and what's not in this city.]
I'd like to meet them someday. I don't think I'll be going anywhere anytime soon, so... I might as well have something to look forward to.
no subject
Sure! Ibuki can introduce you and stuff! And Ibuki has a karaoke setup that we can all have fun with, too!!
[She still remembers the karaoke you promised...]
no subject
Oh, right! Yes. Karaoke is fun... But wait, how did you get that? The most advanced item in the city I've seen are batteries. The city-wide powerlines never came to be.
no subject
Oh wait, you don't believe in magic...
no subject
Well... That's not entirely true. Not anymore.
[She's still not the one to jump to conclusions and say it's magic until every other possibility is out, but now? Magic may be something she'll finally accept]
I was in my world for more than a year. You could say a lot of things happened.
no subject
no subject
Y-You could say that... Yes. I still find it difficult to wrap my head around. But I have to accept that not everything can be explained. For someone who travels to other worlds, I should have learned this truth a lot sooner...
[She sighs]
Very well, let's see this magical karaoke machine you've gotten. I did promise you that we'll do that, right?
[She hopes she's gotten better at singing by now. All those Friday night trips to karaoke bars in the last year with her wife should have given her enough practice. As if fate wanted her to sing the karaoke with Ibuki,,,]
3.6
The other half was in disbelief.]
Sofia..?
[It had been a long time since he'd seen her - both since she left the city and the six years he'd spent back home - but he was sure he recognized her. He only lingered in the door for a moment before walking in, leaning against his crutch, his right pant leg pinned up at the knee.]
That's exactly what it looks like you're doing.
no subject
Well, I suppose this would be stealing back in our home worlds...
[She shrugs, just doing her thing and cook herself something to eat. She poured a light amount of cooking oil before carefully placing the patty on the metal surface of the flat grill. Normally she would wait to heat the oil even just a little, but she doesn't care right now]
Or has things changed a lot since I was gone?
no subject
I don't think too much has changed, then again I only just came back a few days ago myself. [He pauses for a moment, then gives a shrug.] Though admittedly it was apparently only a week here.
[He's just still adjusting.]
It's nice to see you again.
no subject
Likewise.
[She responds ever so casually, but she is curious about what has been going on in the city and Afonso himself. She should get him a drink at least. The food though, that's all her's. No touching]
Time flows differently for different universes. Even at different planets. It feels like I just took a long sleep and somehow ended up on the train this morning. It made me wonder just what this city saw in me to bring me back a third time.
[She pauses, lazily just using her own hand to flip the patty instead of taking the time to grab a spatula that's just right there]
How is everything, then? Your time away, and your return.
3.6 - 2 OOPS
... Don't I know you?
[ She feels oddly solid, for someone who's pretty sure her body should have ceased to be. How long has it been? Not since the city, since before that. The girl - Margaretha Sorin - feels as if she just woke up from a long, dreamless sleep and all the way back in this hole. And she's just so many things right now: tired, aching and most of all so hungry and that's what landed her here. Answers might come next. ]
I just need... Water. [ And food. ] I don't care what you do.
no subject
...Margaretha? What ha-
[There was a pause as Sofia observes how... odd Margaretha appears to her now. She didn't know if it was her eyes playing tricks on her, but Margaretha definitely looks strange. But the state of her clothing and how she carried herself is what made Sofia spring into action]
W-Wait, let me get you a glass first.
[Sofia chucks the contents of her hands aside, deactivating her armor as she gets her weary friend a glass of water from the bar. She was in a rush that she forgot to turn the tap off. She hurries with the water in a rocks glass, and hands it over to Margaretha.]
Here-- Wait, why are you?
["Translucent", is what she meant to say. But her surprise now that she's seen it up close and was sure it wasn't the light messing with her eyes stopped her from saying anything more. Still, she didn't show any fear around Margaretha. She wasn't sure whether or not she's just seen stranger things, or if it's just genuine concern for others that caused her not to be afraid.]
no subject
Thank yo– ah!
[ When she'd moved to take the glass from Sofia, it had slipped right through one of her hands, toppling enough to spill some water between them before she managed to grab it firmly with her other. Was it a trick of the eye? Had she missed it by that much? Her hands were holding it firmly, but it felt as if they hadn't the first time. ]
[ The same thing had happened with some papers at the train station. The pocket watch was fine but she seemed to be having a hard time with most things at first. Was this... Was this really happening? She hadn't been like this for long, but it shouldn't be like this, right? Shouldn't it come to her naturally? ]
I'm... [ She glanced at the glass, almost too scared to take a sip– she only did because it would be far more embarrassing to reject Sofia's help now, but found that she drank it normally, no drink spilling onto the floor or visible through her throat. She was still shaken up. What had she become? ]
Thank you... Sofia. I'm- I'm sorry I don't know what's happening to me...
[ Well, besides the obvious. She was dead, that much she knew. ]
no subject
Sofia could only watch Margaretha, still shaking and badly beaten. She didn't know what to do or say next, and could only do what she felt she should. She leaves her hand open to take the glass from Margaretha, while her other hand moved to touch the other woman on the shoulder. She doesn't know if it will phase through, or if it would feel unnatural if it manage not to. But she wanted to show a sign of reassurance]
You don't have to apologize. Tell me, did the city do this? Some of their twisted "events"?
[Sofia tensed her words as her brows furrowed a little tighter. She doesn't always show concern and compassion for others, but she does feel it for Margaretha right now. She isn't aware that Margaretha just arrived here like she did, or any of the city's events are on-going. Neither of those matter much right now. Sofia only wants to help Margaretha out.]
