THE RAINBOW MOON HEARTS MEME ATTACK
1. You have to post a blank comment for your character to play. 2. Reply to others with the hearts that represent how your character feels about their character. This can be IC or OOC. 3. There's no hovertext in this version because fuck that. So customize the text included in the code if you wish instead! 4. Have fun and be yourself, my special snowflakes!!!!! |

But magic still has to obey the laws of physics. If I conjure up fire, it still acts like real fire.

Yes! Finally a world where physics isn't thrown out the window because of magic! Has anyone figured out why technology and magic interfere like they do? Does it have to do something with magic possibly altering subatomic particles, and as electricity is still kind of a wild card, it's more easily affected than say, a proton?
[Clearly, she has been waiting for this day to come.]

Butters says it has something to do with altering probabilities. Some kind of subtle thing that makes whatever can go wrong, go wrong. The newer something is, the more delicate it is, so the more likely it goes boom.
no subject
I guess that could be it. A lot of machinery can be damaged by electricity, the stuff that powers it. There is only so much you can do to a rock that is a few million years old.
[Or a star that is even older.]
So, magic is basically manipulating probability? Or is that just one aspect of it?
no subject
Yes and no. Magic's basically about gathering power, focusing and believing in what you want to happen, and then pushing your will out into the universe to make it happen. So I guess probability manipulation explains it as much as anything.
no subject
At least belief seems to be a common factor in a lot of universes.
Do spells backfire in your world? Are the results only affected by belief?
no subject
Yeah, sometimes. In those cases, it's mostly a matter of putting too much or too little power into the spell, not having the concentration you need, or hell, just getting distracted shaping it.

Trust me, that is the tamest I have ever been!
What's your most badass moment? I'll let you know if you've beaten me or not. And you can't use riding on Sue!
no subject
Hmmm. Killed a vampire with a frozen turkey once.
no subject
But okay, you win. I just ran over a demi-god with my jeep.
no subject
Demigod, eh?
no subject
Yeah. Turns out, all of the Norse gods were aliens from another planet-realm called Asgard. As you can imagine, people were really impressed with their technology and magics, so, stories got embellished over the years.
Thor and Loki a lot nicer than some stories would have you believe.

I've come across Odin once, and he called me a goat.
no subject
Huh. Wouldn't have expected that. Thought Odin was supposed to be fond of mortals.
no subject
[She says that a bit wryly now, with more amusement than bitterness, because she and Thor had already broken up some time ago.]
no subject
Wait, you're that Jane Foster?

[And it would still be a science.]

No, he got turned mortal and then was sent down to Earth to redeem himself, I guess. That was when I ran him over first. I was chasing the cosmic storm his arrival made.
[Now she knows that it was Odin making a wormhole. She never got a chance to ask him about how all that worked, but he likely wouldn't even humor her.]
