I don't really have a fitting picture for this.

G'day, Ruby City! It's time for a meme for both testdrivers and denizens.

Been itching to test out some CR but haven't had the posts to do it? Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?

Have no fear, a meme for you is here.

Directions:

• Post with your character with their name and canon on top!

1. Train Station: New arrival, or waiting to welcome people? Either way, the train comes in, but you still can't ride it out.


2. Cathedral: Looking for redemption? Just doing a little sight-seeing? Or just getting a little shelter?


3. The Clocktower: You can see the whole city from here!


4. The Black Stallion Saloon: You were told the burgers were great here-- but maybe you just came for the beer.


5. The Library: You came to do a little research, but it looks like all of the information's just out of your reach. Though, you can always find a way to pass the time here.


6. The Coffee Joint: Run by James Potter and Lukas, a lovely place to have a chat and a bite to eat.


7. Le Cafe Anglais: A Parisian-British fusion that's as charming as it sounds and serves the best tea around.

Scenarios

1. Just walked in: You intended to get here, and you made your way in; but now someone's caught your eye and you'd like to have a chat.


2. Been here all day: You've been sitting around minding the time. Maybe you didn't notice them at first or maybe you were just working up the courage to talk-- either way, they know you're here and you know it too.


3. Inclimate weather: You're here because you've gotten rained in. This wasn't your choice, but at least it's dry-- right?


4. Wild card: Got something better in mind? Well screw these prompts, try it out yourself!

[Diarmuid takes a long drink off his bottle. In fact, he empties it before responding.]

It doesn't matter if time stops or not back home. I'm...done with the war.

...Saber told me you died in there. Is that...what happened to you before you came here?

[Diarmuid gazes into his empty bottle.]

Yes. The last things I remember are red and black, rage and hatred. Then I was here...

[He turns his head his head to look at the other Lancer.]

How much did she tell you?

Just that you died.

[He moves his chair to sit close to Diarmuid.]

Sounds like it wasn't a good death.

Betrayal rarely leads to a good death.

[Diarmuid sighs, setting his bottle onto the top of the counter with more force than he should. He's lucky it doesn't break.]

Especially when it is unexpected and in the middle of...

[The alcohol in him is probably making him more affectionate than he should be, but Lancer reaches out and places his hand on the other Lancer's shoulder in a comforting gesture.]

...Sounds like whoever you were working with was a real ass. At least they're not here?

[And if they were, well, Lancer did hate traitors.]

[When Diarmuid had first lived, gestures like the one the other servant has just made were common. However, during his time as a servant he had forgotten how such brotherly gestures felt and as a result he looks at the other Lancer's hand for a few moments before smiling slightly.]

As far as I know, he is not here. I do not feel his presence and Saber did not mention him being here. I expect she would have told me if he had been.

[He closes his eyes a moment and laughs lightly.]

Who knows. This might be a second chance for me...if I am not sent away the moment I begin to find myself.

I won't let them send you back.

[He doesn't know how he'd fight the administrators on that, but he's going to try to find a way.]

[Diarmuid smiles gratefully at the other servant and reaches over to clap his hand over the one on his shoulder.]

While I appreciate the sentiment, please don't make a promise you cannot keep for my sake. Some things we can't control no matter now much we may want to and it is a waste of time to try. Instead of wasting time on that, why don't you tell me some more about this place? Or better yet, shall we start that tour you offered to take me on?

[Lancer jumps out of his chair.]

Let's go over to the lake first. I'll show you how to catch a few fish.

[Diarmuid laughs, also rising to his feet.]

It's been a long time since I have been able to take the time to fish. Is it really all right for us to do such a thing? Isn't there something else we should be doing?

[Surprisingly enough after everything with the war, Diarmuid finds himself not particularly wanting to do something serious for a little while even though his strong sense of duty and responsibility makes him feel like he should be.]

[puppy_lancer]

It's not as if there's many jobs you can get here. And sticking around in the Church or the infirmary or a store all day isn't my style.

Besides, don't you need to cut loose? Celebrate you finally being free of that mess of a Grail War?

I won't argue your point.

[He smiles sheepishly.]

I am just not used to having time to do whatever it is I want. Neither my first life nor the war left much time for that, though my friends from my first life did try to get me to relax more often.

[Diarmuid laughs and then motions toward the door.]

Lead the way. Lets see if you can't get me to relax a little tonight. Tomorrow will be soon enough to start learning the details of this place.

[puppy_lancer]

[And so he'll lead the way until they're at the lake. It looks nice and serene, though a little cloudy.]

Well, there it is. How'd you like it?

It's beautiful.

[He gazes out over the water, silent for a long time before speaking again.]

Do you come out here often? To get away?

[puppy_lancer]

Of course. You can say that I'm more in tune with this place than the city itself.

[oathshackledbird]

I can understand that. Even in the parts of the city that seem perfectly normal, something feels off. That doesn't seem to be the case here.

[Diarmuid continues to gaze out over the water.]

I wonder if that means anything?

I've heard people say this place is some sort of Reality Marble, which is why it feels unnatural. Or maybe it's because the people who rule the city have more sway in the place itself than in the surroundings.

[He plops down on the bank of the lake and motions for Diarmuid to dit by him.]

But don't worry too much about it. You'll go gray.

A Reality Marble. Like what Rider had. I...could almost see that.

[The words are muttered mostly to himself, though Lancer can probably hear them clearly. Diarmuid settles onto the ground next to the other servant before speaking again.]

Was it Saber who described it like that to you?

[puppy_lancer]

Actually, no. It was my Master.

Your master has experience with Reality Marbles?

[And suddenly Diarmuid can't help but wonder where he got that experience from. Was it Rider or had there been another who he had known who had such an ability?]

[puppy_lancer]

Some theoretical experience, I guess. He never told me the details of how he came to know.

Of course he didn't. Even though we are suppose to be their hands in battle, so many masters seem to think we need to know nothing. Forgive me for asking. It is just that there was a servant in my war who had such a Noble Phantasm, though I didn't know that was what it was called until I asked my master about it afterward.

[Diarmuid looks over at the other servant out of the corners of his eyes.]

Considering what you have told me of his identity, I cannot help but wonder just how much of a role he had in my war after I left it. He was quiet during the first part, but it seems like that must have changed.

Again, I'm not sure. All I know is that Kiritsugu Emiya wished for the end of the world and then tried to kill him.

I may not know much about Kiritsugu Emiya other than he was Saber's master, but I would not be surprised if what your master says is true. From his actions in the war I could tell he was a driven man who cared nothing about who he hurt to reach his goal. Innocent or not was irrelevant to him.

[Diarmuid looks back out over the lake, anger shimmering in his eyes.]

He was an effective and brutal killer. Your master probably has every right to be worried. However, considering how your master tricked you, the fact that he has another servant just hanging around--especially that one--and how he is treating his wife lead me to believe that supervisor or not, he is not a good man either. Have you asked why Kiritsugu Emiya wishes him dead?
