[January] Test Drive

Thinking of apping a character but not sure they'll fit in the city walls?
Have no fear, a meme for you is here.
Directions:
- Use an RNG to choose a location and prompt, or wait for someone else to tag.
- Post with your character with their name and canon on top!
- If you'd like, leave contact info for people to get in contact for plotting and other such shenans.
- Tag around! Make friends. Don't be afraid to chat OOC while tagging.
Locations
1.TRAIN STATION - The place where everyone gets dumped off at. Your first view of Ruby City, complete with informational posters telling you all about where you've ended up.
2. THE BEACH - Lovely year-round, though in the winter months, you're probably not likely to dip your toes in.
3. THE BLACK STALLION - A rather quaint bar. Supposedly, the burgers are great, but you don't see anyone immediately who's willing to serve you. Maybe you're meant to get it yourself.
4. THE OBELISK - The tall monolith in the center of the city marks the gathering place of many events, though right now it seems to be cold and dark.
5. THE CLOCKTOWER - Offering an impressive view of the city, several residents come here to clear their heads, if they don't mind braving the narrow staircase.
6. THE COFFEE JOINT - the front windows are warm and welcoming, and it seems there's always someone friendly enough to fix you a cup when you wander through.
7. THE CATACOMBS - Intrepid, aren't you? Those weird holes may beg exploring, but go too deep and you're going to be in a lot of trouble, considering the viciousness of the creatures held within.
8. THE CITY STREETS - All told, Ruby City is a lovely place, once you get past the fact that several of the buildings look derelict and on the verge of falling down. There's no harm in doing a little sightseeing.
9. THE PARK - You thought it'd be a lovely stroll, but the park is anything but friendly, if those approaching wolf-like creatures are any indication.
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like what we've come up with? Feel like picking your own place? There's a whole host of lovely locations to choose from in the City.
Scenarios
1. NEW ARRIVAL - Step off that train, walk down the street. People usually latch on to newcomers to try and help them out. Even if you look shy, the other residents probably won't be!
2. WATCH TALK - Feeling lost? Disoriented? Don't worry, everyone feels that way on their first day. Fortunately - if the signs at the station are to believed - the watch in your pocket can be used to talk to whoever else might be here.
3. BAD WEATHER - Aw, man. Whether it's snow, or rain, or just plain cold, today was definitely the wrong day to get dumped off in a City in the middle of nowhere.
4. A RUN-IN - Maybe you weren't watching. Maybe they weren't. Either way, you just bumped into someone. Perhaps apologies are in order?
5. HELP, IT HURTS - Clumsy, aren't you? Perhaps wherever the train brought you from wasn't so friendly, or you just tripped and twisted your ankle. Either way, you're in a bit of pain. Hopefully someone will notice your booboos and help patch you up.
6. HUNGRY - It isn't very obvious sometimes that restaurants are what they are, especially in a place like Ruby City. Where can a person go to get a bite to eat around here?
7. MISTAKEN IDENTITY - Hey, there's someone you know! --Or maybe not.
8. BEING FOLLOWED - Maybe you're just being paranoid, or maybe you've got a reason to be afraid. Whatever it is, it feels like there's eyes on you...
9. EVENTS - Feel free to look through our event tag!
10. CHOOSE YOUR OWN - Don't like any of these ideas? Feel free to come up with your own!
The Girl | DD: True Live of the Fabulous Killjoys
[She was literally just curled up like a tiny child rock looking for little creatures on the beach. With the amount of dirt already smeared all over her, its no wonder she managed to trip someone. Doesn't mean she likes falling over into the lose sand.]
Ow, ow! What are you doing? I saw a leggy thing and now it's getting away! [She points at a crab that's high tailing it. She tries to follow on hands and knees, slow on the unsteady ground.] Help me catch it!
(8.1)
She hated being alone. Though she ran that day, she didn't like being away from people. She liked being in a city, even full of people, even less. There was too much color for it to be Bat City, she figured, but it was still making her skin crawl. She just didn't know where else to go.
There was no desert here. It was not the Zones. It's green and buzzing with well fed people and the smell was mildly pleasant rather than the stench of sweat, blood and the aftermath of acid rain. The girl was scared.
She tucked herself into the space between two buildings and started singing, off-key, one of the last songs she'd heard on the radio before she'd left. She waited, for the first person who looked the least like they might shoot her, and reached out for their arm as they walked by.
"Hey. You. Um. Where is this?"
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee | 2.4
[Perplexed, Cola's gaze tracks over the sand until he finds what she's so excited about. Not wanting to steal the victory of her catching it for herself, he instead moves to block its escape and chase it back towards her.]
It's called a crab, tumbleweed.
C: C:
>3<;
[Said gently, absently as he crouches by her and eyes the struggling creature in her hands. He smiles up at her and nods.]
Mm, just here. Seen ones that crawl right outta their homes and go into another one.
it's exciting there's a killjoys cast around
[Still, she adjusts her grip accordingly. She glances between him and the claws.]
Whoa. They got all kinds of dotty creatures around here, huh? I wonder if you can even eat these things. Betcha it's better than lizards.
Yesss <3 There are not many of us. I personally have a lot of feelings about CC.
[He brings one finger dangerously close for the crab to try and grab, but not too close.]
Bettin' most things are better than lizards. Not known anyone what could make lizard taste good.
who didn't come out of the comics loving Cherri?
[She pulls the crab back, just a hair. She doesn't want it to snap him.]
Not the puppy chow. I'd take the lizard anyday over more PowerPup. [A pause. She holds the crab up again.] Any good at cookin' Cherri?

He stares at her, for a long time, just confused and surprised. But a smile soon creeps into his lips, and it doesn't even hit him right away that he might look too different for her to recognize him.
"--sunshine?"
XD (not wearing his helmet, I presume?)
"Yeah?" The endearment was a comfort, at least, a reminder of Dr. D and mornings spent crowed around the radio listening to the Zone reports. She relaxed, just a little, eyes still searching him out for some clue to where she'd heard him before. "You one of the DJs?"
no helmet, no makeup, different clothes, longer hair... :v he's been around for a while
He leans a bit, one hand on his knee and another held out for hers.
"S' Show Pony, lil' bee. Don't recognize me?"
gotcha!
"No," she finally answers, "You look.... different. Very different. I don't understand. I just saw you a while ago."
Re: gotcha!
He grips her hand, gently, helping her out of hiding.
"S' complicated. Tell you all about it, but let's get ya outta this cold first."

She lets him pull her away from the buildings, squeezing his hand a little tighter once she's out on the sidewalk.
"You have a place close by?"

Oh my, fancy running into you here too! Also 8.1
It's because he's so on edge that his free hand moves to where his raygun is tucked into the back of his jeans the moment he feels someone touch his arm, but it's years of practice that keeps him from drawing it.
He feels his heart leap into his throat as he turns his head, eyes wide.
"Kiddo?"
Looks like we're all popping out of the woodwork XD
"Ghoul," she says, pitched in a mix of relief and nerves. She swallows heavily to try to combat the shaky tone, squeezing his arm. "I thought I was the only one here in this freaky place. How are you eve- when did you get here?"
We all just pop up whenever we see fellow kjs lolz XD
"Been here just a bit, maybe a couple days. Did you just get here?" That seemed like the case. "You hurt? Jet isn't with you?"
Because the last thing he remembered before waking up on that train was shutting the door to give her and Jet Star cover.
wooo XD
"Today," she spoke against his sleeve. "Just me."
The idea of hurt makes her pull away a little and rather reluctantly. She rakes her eyes over him, pressing a hand to his chest to just as much to try to feel out his heartbeat as it was to check for injuries. "What about you? I don't see nothin'. But." She looks up at him anxiously. "Tell me you're good, Ghoul."
So you're thinking of joining us here?
Ghoul doesn't need her to say anything. He's got a good enough idea and later on when he's alone he'll curse and scream himself hoarse. For now though he keeps his attention on her.
"I'm good, donno how I am but I'm good." There are still a few scrapes, and bandages under his shirt, but his hearts still beating. He's alive somehow. "C'mon, let's get someplace less open, I'll try fillin' you in on this place. 'least what I know about it."
yup! fingers crossed
"Okay," she agrees, less frantic now that she's assured he won't be falling at any second. She jerks her head towards the street, gesturing for him to lead the way. "Don't leave nothin' out."
/peers at, 8.1
She was caught up enough that she missed the hand reaching out for her. The girl will feel warm fur under her fingers and it was enough to stop the monster in her tracks to look-
Oh.
A child.
"Hello little one." She started gently. "From what I have read, it is called Ruby City." Which... didn't help either of them very much but a name was a start.
yo
Ruby City, they said. "Not Battery City, then." She tried to let that relax her. It didn't. "Do you know how far to the Zones?"
Ruby City is very fun you should totally join
"I do not know. I have never heard of the 'Zones' or of 'Battery City' before." The Surface must have changed much more than she realized. But then, it had been many many years since the war.
just sent the app ;) you play here?
"You don't know either." She parroted, lips pressing together grimly. She could have guessed, from the abundance of wildlife and the colors present through the streets that she wasn't even close to home. It still hurt to have it confirmed. "What...what do you know about this place?"
I do! :)
"I only know the name and that we are on the Surface. Perhaps if we explore, we might learn more together?"
cool cool cool
But she was tired, and getting cold. "We'll stay out in the open?"
Sadly no goatmom though, just an elf and some rich kid with a demon butler
lotr and black butler?
Yep!
cool!
